I lost my 13 year old yellow lab a week ago. Most devastating thing I've ever gone through. I miss him so much. Was such an amazing dog and so in tune to me and I to him.
I am really! So very sorry for your loss 😢💔 even though it was a long time ago and also I know exactly what it feels like to lose a Labrador retriever we lost our Labrador retriever Pitbull mix named Maggie we had her from June 22nd 2013 she was 9 years old until August 20th 2018 when she passed away from cancer she was 14 years old 😢💔
I’m very sorry for your loss! Time helps a little, I lost a black lab female 2yrs and 7 days ago. Devastating is the word I’d use too! Labs are a blessing from Heaven!
I had a black lab that lived to be 15 years old but sadly had to be put down after he developed cancer. We did treatments and we always said if he was ever in pain we knew we had to let him go and one day he woke up crying in pain and couldn’t move at all. We took him to the vet they did all they could for him but we had to let him go. That was years ago but I still have his collar as a reminder of him and always will!
I’ve had to do this three times and you never recover. You leave a bit of your life on that cold, cold exam table, where the vet injects venom into your lifeblood for how ever many years. It’s painful, regretting, alienating, and life-draining. If grief is the price we pay for love, you shouldn’t get a lab
I have an English lab, he’s a bit older (12 years) I got him from the shelter on his 10th birthday. He was a breeding dog and his name is Nancy. He actually looks exactly like the yellow one in this video. He is the sweetest best dog I’ve ever encountered. Always by my side and guarding my bed. When I’m in the kitchen he just lays there, and whenever I go somewhere else outside he never runs off and is glued to me. These dogs are absolutely amazing. I wish everyone would have the pleasure to have one of these amazing dogs in their lives.
My black lab is my best friend. He's 7.5 and Doc says he has a "mass" in his abdomen and might live another week or two. She said this a week before xmas. I rejected that like she was Satan himself saying it. Probably 20 people prayed in ernest for my dog and right now he's hassling my daughter for her leftovers. Took him off grains and give him a chinese herb twice a day and other than his distinguished grey beard, he's like a 2 year old again. He gets picked up by our cops occasionally and they know/love him and can't believe he's an "old guy". Happiest soul I've ever known. Omg I LOVE MY DOG.
My parents got me a chocolate lab for my birthday & he’s been my best friend ever since. He’s now 12 & still going strong even though he’s an old man now. That boy keeps it real in the emotional support department, he just knows, I love him
Princess the black lab lived to be 13. She was the happiest dog I've ever met and everyone who met her said the same of her. She would've ran through a hundred yards of fire to be with me and still be wagging her tail and want to lick my face! She was the runt of the pack, I could've picked any of the 9 pups, but she actually picked me. All the other puppies were following their dad around the yard but Princess kept coming over to me and followed me everywhere that day. We had to put her down she was in so much pain that she couldn't even stand in the end. This is my tribute to Princess - I'll never forget her. If there is a dog heaven then she made it for sure!
I rarely comment on YT, but man you have the best dog channel. Very informative. Your videos are produced with so much attention to detail. These videos have really helped to spark my career path in dog training. I knew I loved dogs, animals in general but really dogs. But being introduced to this page has been the best thing to happen to me. Big ups, bro. Keep doing great work.
i know it sounds like - "poor me" but it's not that bad as it sounds. my both parents are narcissists and my sister is 4 years younger than me....it's different now
p.s. I had my dog in an apartment and I work from home and I walked him 4 30 minute intervals a day and I gave him food puzzles to solve as well as took him to the park - I lost 25 lbs exercising with my lab!!!
You're absolutely right, it depends on the owner. Making some blanket statement like you can't have a lab if you don't have a yard is like any other blanket statement. I had a lab in a one BR apartment but we were within a stone's throw of a park system with trails and lakes. We did walks around the lake, biking, swimming, retrieving work, frisbee, play with other dogs and people, etc. Any good lab won't let you just sit around no matter where you live :)
I understand... you can still love her after she's gone. On that fateful day I send you my prayers and know you are not alone. Get another lab ASAP, it will help the pain of losing Olive subside. I think you'll find your new pup will quickly find its way into your heart!
This is exactly what I needed to watch. Thank you so much for this video. Alexandra Flanigan was a wonderful guest, very insightful, this was a great video. Our lab is exactly 6 months and we just started training ours, so I know we are on track. Thanks again!!!
My chocolate lab is about to turn 13, I grew up with her and I have a feeling it's really going to suck when she's gone. Labs are amazing dogs, I get excited every time one comes into the store I work at. Very loyal breed, love em so much
Our first family dog was a yellow lad. We named her Duchess of Dale. She was my best friend ever! We bred her three times and we kept one puppy from each litter. She was my best companion and hunting dog. She developed tumor on her leg that blew up and it smelled very bad. The Vet told us that her vitals were bad and we needed to put her down. I refused to let her go. My wife and I told the Vet that we would need to tell the kids and she gave us instruction on how to care for the wound. After telling the kids we waited a week before returning to the Vet’s to put her down. The technician came in and took her vitals then left. When the Vet came in as we said our last goodbyes she was smiling and told us duchess’s vitals had improved but she would have to loose her leg. Our tears turned into smiles and the Vet took her to surgery right away. Her hunting days were over. Duchess was scheduled to stay with the Vet for two days but she wouldn’t let no one near her. They called me and asked if I would come get her. When she saw me she got up running to me ignoring the pain. She lived another 5 years but lost a tremendous amount of weight but was still able to do the things she’s always done like help carry lite groceries into the house, go up and down the stairs and give hugs and kisses. In 2015 we brought the pack to the vets for their yearly checkup and doc told us it was time. It broke our hearts but we had to end her suffering. On September 15, 2015 the whole family said our goodbyes. We had her cremated and she sits on our mantle above our fireplace with a statue of a Labrador hold a retrieved duck in her mouth. As I’m writing this I have tears in my eyes and tears rolling down the side of my face. I miss her so much and everyday her remaining offspring remind me her especially the youngest,Ranger, who looks and acts just like her. Labrador’s are the best dog in the world by far!
I understand. My 13 year old yellow lab passed away six days ago. Im beyond devastated and barely functioning. I miss my Kippy so much. He had Mast Cell Carcinoma.... terrible cancer.
FYI I had a black lab female that got a cancer about the size of a silver dollar on her front knee at 2 yrs old the vet said it was very unusual she had cancer that young. Thankfully had it removed and she lived almost to 9. I think the cause of the cancer may have been caused by large pork bones from WalMart. Supposedly the marrow in pig bones are full of cancer cells. Could be why so many people don’t eat pork and it’s considered unclean. After I found that out I never gave her another pork bone
All of the Labs I have had never made it past 12 years old. All wonderful dogs and those years are very memorable. My last one Rikki-Bobby was 12 when it was his time. It's only been a month and it's been very difficult without him. He was my hunting partner and Jeep ride partner for many years. I will be getting another Lab when it's time or one comes along that I have to go and see. They are the most wonderful dogs on earth.
Damn I see it’s common for labs to pass at 12-13 years😢 that’s a short time I was thinking of getting a lab also I haven’t had another dog since my last dog that passed away 8 years ago. I been dying to get another dog I own a 14 year old cat that I’ve had for 7 years I love her but cats are just different and I grew up with dogs as a kid. I want to do outdoor activities that you just can’t do with a cat. Like hiking, beach, lake, parks road trips. I want road dog I can take with me everywhere explore.
I love labs♡ My yellow lab is Carole, 8 years old, and black lab is Alma, 5 years old. I really love to watch my 2 labs are playing with my 2 little girls :)
I had a labrador back then she was 3 months old, and I learned that whatever I do my dog loves long walks and play outside she doesnt care if its hot or what she just loves to be outside
My younger brother Patrick and I got a black Labrador retriever pitbull mix named Maggie from the Oregon humane society back on June 22nd 2013 she was 9 years old we had her for 5 wonderful years until August 20th 2018 when she passed away from cancer she was 14 years old 😢💔 She was our first dog ever
I had my Figo.. A female golden passed away at 14+ years.. She was an Australian import.. I cried my eyes out when she passed away and I was away in Caracas for work
@@illustryfe5354 While that is true many of the conformation Labs who do show do in fact have a natural more barrel shaped body they still are overweight. I know many show line Labs who are extremely fit and while they still have the typical barrel chest and body they still have a noticeable tuck, muscle without excess weight and ribs can be slightly seen (not to much to be underweight but enough to show they're VERY active). It's extremely important to remember just because they have a certain body type it doesn't excuse the excess weight factor and it needs to stop being normalized not just in this breed but many others as well.
@@illustryfe5354 working field labs dont look like these guys. The fat body and short legs are unfortunately favored in show dogs. 7:21 is a better example of a working dog yet still too stout.
mcnameva They have now what is called the English lab and the American field trial lab. Actually the Americans been around for a while. If you look it up you’ll see there is a difference the American is taller and leant. It’s really meant to work the field not so much water. They typically have more energy and a little more excitable and than the English lab. They do well in the water. I definitely like the look of the American lot better. Maybe that’s what I’m used to seeing. It is too bad they don’t mention the difference. I don’t know maybe they’re not actually an AKC.
I had a chocolate lab/golden retriever mix. He was the smartest, most athletic and well behaved dog i have ever seen. He only lived to 12 years old but i made his life completely fulfilled. He was amazing to watch catching his frisbee a freak athlete.
I lost my Lab Hanna at 16 years old and I’m so glad the day I buried her behind my land it was raining cus u couldn’t tell the difference between my tears n the rain drops , it’s been 5 years n still miss my baby girl , I now have a black lab named Chase . Love this breed of dogs .
We had a Chocolate Lab, male, and we were joined at the hip for 15 years! Diesel Train was his name! Smart! Understood every word I spoke and knew hand signals like a pro! I never had to say a word to ask or command what I wanted from him. We miss his love, so another lab is coming here in September. A little black male puppy, a challenge to teach and learn for me and the puppy! His name… Archie!
it really makes me sad that the standard look for a lab nowadays is overweight. they're supposed to be fit, athletic, hunting dogs and these all look like couch potatoes.
First, I love the videos. Thank you so much. Second, I don’t think her ideas are old school. I think the average people never bothered to learn about all the stuff she’s talking about. She is absolutely correct for this breed. So I guess I would say there’s no school like the old school.
Great video. I wish more people would understand dogs like she does. Don’t let dogs jump off the sofa or over except die them! So many dogs come in to the hospital because someone’s puppy jumped off the sofa
Great videos very high quality. I have a request for a future one of these videos. You should do the St. Bernard. They seem like such interesting dogs.
I was told they hit puberty at about 8 months. My pup started running about 11 months. 15 months now and she hasn’t grown at all since she was 12 months!
My experience is anecdotal, and technically my dog Sidney is not a pure breed, but she is the sweetest most well natured dog I have ever had. The thing about labs, is that they love food, so you have to be careful about not "loving" them by over feeding them. Also, if Sid is any example, while active in youth, they love to sleep more and more as they get older. Which is fine. Just be prepared for that.
I just rescued a pure bred yellow lab. I’ve been learning a lot about the breed recently and I believe she is an American Lab because she’s a little learner and her nose is slightly longer so I doubt she would win any show. I can’t get over these “breed standards” and how crazy some people can be. These show dogs look overweight and unhealthy.
I really want a lab but I work a full time job. I got my first lab when I was 12 and I trained him to go off leash in a field and on our lawn in just 3 weeks at the age of 15 weeks. I work a full time job and I am going to give him 1 hour of field exercise in the morning and 1-2 hours when I come home. I will also be paying a neighbourhood kid to walk my dog around the block and play with him in my backyard for a bit. Do you think my dog will be ok.
“The true fun is takin ‘em out and workin ‘em in the field.” 👏 Yes! They were designed for this! Well actually they were designed for the water but the first and foremost point is They Need To Be Worked!
Im a first time lab owner. Right now my lab is 6 months old , 51 punds . What do you guys feed your labs with. I would like to find a natural diet ( thinking more like raw chiken,) , . Any help or recommendations? Please and thanks.
Its so sad seeing how fat/obese these dogs are. I understand the breed standard calls for that "shape" but that doesnt make it healthy for the dog.. such a shame..
Ezziee10 Could also be that they look like the English version. There are two versions of the breed: English and American. American is better for work. English better for show. English are stockier and bigger. Americans are smaller, thinner, better at working, and have more energy.
Kameo Hosley But the bone structure of the dog has nothing to do with the amount of fat the dog has. A greyhound can be obese in the same way an english bulldog can.
Hello Dogumentary TV, with you permission, can I used a few seconds of your of your video here please to my Tiktok? I will acknowledge your RUclips Channel on my post. Thank you.
It was nice to see your passion for your dogs. Though I don’t think not exercising or not letting your puppy run or jump is the right thing to do , My yellow lab has been hiking and running with me in the mountains since he was 4 months old and he still runs 10 kms with me and does not show any signs of any damage. Is this a myth or have I damaged his ligaments.
I have a black lab but she has grey on her paws, back legs and by her ear. She also don’t want dog food anymore since she found a nest of baby rabbits 😔
I lost my 13 year old yellow lab a week ago. Most devastating thing I've ever gone through. I miss him so much. Was such an amazing dog and so in tune to me and I to him.

you loved him more than your family, or no one in your family loved him more than you?
no.like i said-i loved him more than...

Have an 11 year old black lab named Olive who unfortunately is on her way out. She's the best damn dog ever

Labs are just the best! Such sweet, loyal, and energetic doggies😍🤗!
Very informative! Thanks Zeke! The breeder not only is knowledgeable, she truly loves Labs!
I cant skip ur videos... i totally melt away by Dogs. Thnak u.
This is the best, most informative video about the breed that I have seen on RUclips. Definitely subscribing
I used to have a dog named Rizzo. She died of cancer when she was 7. She was a beautiful black lab. I'd love to get another one some day.

As a life long English Lab parent, I just thought the St John's water dog should say hello. The St. John's is the reason we have Labradors and Newfies

A little black male puppy, a challenge to teach and learn for me and the puppy! His name… Archie!
it really makes me sad that the standard look for a lab nowadays is overweight. they're supposed to be fit, athletic, hunting dogs and these all look like couch potatoes.
Sorry but my dog doesn't follow diets well
I know, right?
First, I love the videos. Thank you so much. Second, I don’t think her ideas are old school. I think the average people never bothered to learn about all the stuff she’s talking about. She is absolutely correct for this breed. So I guess I would say there’s no school like the old school.
Best breed ever,labrodor😍
Thank you for your videos. They are beautifully done and very informative too!
I love labby's🐶🐶🐶
Great video. I wish more people would understand dogs like she does. Don’t let dogs jump off the sofa or over except die them! So many dogs come in to the hospital because someone’s puppy jumped off the sofa
Great content! We love Labs!❤️
Lab video coming this weekend!
My new lab Coco is killing me and I fxxxxxg love her
Labs are awesome😁😁💕💕
Great videos very high quality. I have a request for a future one of these videos. You should do the St. Bernard. They seem like such interesting dogs.
SPARI IKR!! Sorry I just love that breed a lot.
I was told they hit puberty at about 8 months. My pup started running about 11 months. 15 months now and she hasn’t grown at all since she was 12 months!
I love all dogs.
I am personally trying to get a labrador but dont know the essentials on taking care of them while young
So so lovely 💞💝💘
I love your videos!
you are 100% best all around dog breed channel .. please do a video for a gull terrier . congrats on 200k man been watching your vids for a while
My black lab is 9 month old and she had her first heat and 19 inches tall. Will she still grow up?
Would like to see a video of a German Short Haired pointer. Love your videos
me too!! Favorite'n
They already uploaded one
I had both. My short hair did not like water. But was a great pointer.
Exercise doesn’t cause problems it just exposes the problem
Glad I found this page subscribe instantly
Awesome video. Keep them coming. Any plans for English springer spaniel?
Dad is only one ting to know about Labrador they are great dogs 🐕
I really want a lab but I work a full time job. I got my first lab when I was 12 and I trained him to go off leash in a field and on our lawn in just 3 weeks at the age of 15 weeks. I work a full time job and I am going to give him 1 hour of field exercise in the morning and 1-2 hours when I come home. I will also be paying a neighbourhood kid to walk my dog around the block and play with him in my backyard for a bit. Do you think my dog will be ok.
The king 😂 of suburban breeds. I've never encountered a working lab in my 40+ years
“The true fun is takin ‘em out and workin ‘em in the field.” 👏 Yes! They were designed for this! Well actually they were designed for the water but the first and foremost point is They Need To Be Worked!
I also take care of a labrador retriever.🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🧡💛💚💙
Im a first time lab owner. Right now my lab is 6 months old , 51 punds . What do you guys feed your labs with. I would like to find a natural diet ( thinking more like raw chiken,) , . Any help or recommendations? Please and thanks.
I have a lab mix who is in training to be a service dog and he's wonderful :) He does not have a knack for retrieving, though
This channel deserves a MILLION!! subs!! 🙋hi5 from New Zealand!!TWO!!!👍👍 up 10/10 ««{{🏆}}»»
Please do dogue de bordeaux (french mastiff) and samoyed videos! I'm really interested in adopting one of those or both.
Dogue de Bordeaux
What is a good weight for labs and should I walk him on a treadmill?
I have a springer spaniel, weimeriner mix and for some reason him and his siblings came our looking like black or brown labs.
Thank you.
NO.
I have a labrador named Luna we got her this summer on August 1st
It was nice to see your passion for your dogs. Though I don’t think not exercising or not letting your puppy run or jump is the right thing to do , My yellow lab has been hiking and running with me in the mountains since he was 4 months old and he still runs 10 kms with me and does not show any signs of any damage. Is this a myth or have I damaged his ligaments.
I would definitely like to see one about the Belgium Sheepdog a little bit more.
I have a black lab but she has grey on her paws, back legs and by her ear. She also don’t want dog food anymore since she found a nest of baby rabbits 😔
great vid
We got a school for blind people here and Labs are a very common sight on the streets. Awesome, who they do their work
Davi they are some of the world’s best guide dogs!
These dogs are little bit on the chunky side. I like American labs because they look more fit than the English ones.
my dog was over 27 inches tall and 97 lbs - not fat at all
Charlie And Lola and Hazel too! Are you dumb? Those are the same types of breeds
Charlie And Lola and Hazel too! Just stfu honestly
I agree that American labs are more fit cause I have both and my American lab is just a bundle of energy
Tooo good
you should do one on nova scotia duck tolling retrievers!
I’m getting my very first lab 😆 she’s a yellow we are thinking of the name moxie, Alice, clover and something else I forgot but what do u guys think?
Wolf_ Girl_03 if it is a girl I think Bailey, or if it is a boy I think Chester. :)
Every dog is a good dog, but Lab's are my favorite breed.
Dogumentary crew I m wish u r document do the video of rare alano espanol or Spanish bulldog
Those Some thick puppers specially that black one.
