  • The Labrador Retriever, also Labrador, is a type of retriever-gun dog.The Labrador is one of the most popular breeds of dog in the United Kingdom and the United States.
A favourite disability assistance breed in many countries, Labradors are frequently trained to aid the blind, those who have autism, to act as a therapy dog and perform screening and detection work for law enforcement and other official agencies. They are prized as sporting and hunting dogs.
Nature: The ideal family dog. Its patience, intelligence and gentleness, liveliness, sensitivity and love of children, mixed with a pinch of mischief make the Labrador the perfect pet.
Particularity: The majority of researchers think that the Labrador came to Great Britain in large numbers from 1830 with fishing boat crews. According to this theory the dogs embarked with the Newfoundland fishermen. -

I love labs so much. I have one laying against me right now. I'm not dependent on him but I generally don't go anywhere for long that I can't bring him besides work. I built a bed for him that's the same height as mine so he's right next to my head when we sleep. Every morning he insists I rub his belly as he lays his head on my face. By 'insist' I mean he grabs my hand and forces it to his belly and lays on my head. I keep whispering "should we go get some food?" until he decides he'd rather have food than belly rubs. He gets his bowl for me to fill. He gets my hat and gives it to me as I leave for work and he goes out after work and brings in my lunch box, takes my hat off and brings me my shoes, slippers, phone, tv remote or what ever I ask him to. He is so intuned to me that I have to be careful not to get angry at anyone at all or he gets weird, trying to make me relax which can get dangerous if you're driving. If I make any aggressive moves to anything he lunges after it One time I woke in the middle of the night and passed a kidney stone. As I lie on the hallway floor, in excruciating pain, he figured he could make me better by laying on my head. I had our boy pull him away from me and take him to the living room where they sat on the couch together and he moaned and groaned excessively and loudly for about a half hour or so until I had the boy let him go. He ran to me, sniffed me all over and tried to snuggle up to me to the point he was trying to climb on or under me.
He goes out in the yard, no leash or fence, by himself and never leaves the yard. Not even when chasing a squirrel. When the main door is closed, he politely asks to go in or out. If only the screen door is closed he pushes or pulls the door himself to go in or out but will usually still ask first. He has many friends that will stop by when walking their dogs, one even hangs out with him for 10 minutes or so. I don't even know this girls name. He's so kind and gentle but he doesn't hesitate to jump on and latch on to 800lbs cattle if they look at me wrong when we're at our farm. He loves showing off by climbing ladders (search 'bear the lab climbs a ladder' to see for yourself) , riding on the 4 wheeler and helps herd the cattle (he definitely helps and really tries but you can tell he wasn't bred for it. Don't tell him I said that)
He knows so many words that's its amazing. Directions like Up or down, back. The names of animals like cows, horse, dog, squirrel, bunny, bird. Rooms like bedroom, potty room, kitchen. The names of my friends and their dogs. He realizes that everything we say means something and he listens to conversations intently, trying to figure out what is being said. He seems to understand the concept of sentences in that he understands words and when I string them into a sentence, he gets it. "If you want a treat, go get your bowl. You left it in the bedroom. " or " I have to go work, you go stay with jay" he turns and walks over to Jay and watches me leave.
I have multiple vehicles and he watches me grab keys off the rack and runs to the appropriate vehicle and waits for me. He knows the way to my friends house, he has a lab too that mine is in love with, he stands up through the sunroof and points out the turns, getting more excited as we approach each one. As we approach their house, he calls out her name "ruby" on, he doesn't say it exactly but when ru-by he mimics me with this weird 2 part bark/howl that sounds a lot closer than I would ever expect. It's the only time he does this double bark. He also had a chicken friend at the farm and as soon as we got there they would run to each other and play all day, taking turns chasing each other. That chicken is another story of it's own. Any time we were around, it hung out with us instead of the other chickens.
I can't imagine anyone is still reading so I'll just stop here.

i recently rescued a black lab, i already have a female malinois x staffy.. a real fire cracker of a guard dog.. i didnt have to do any training with the black lab because the dog is amazingly smart, he simply followed my females lead and picked up quickly on my commands. that alone told me alot about this breed, i have much respect for labradors, theyre true gentledogs. soon expecting puppies from my dogs and im so glad its the lab thats going to be the father of these pups compared to a malinois or staffy.

Exactly. What a poorly-researched documentary. Canada's political history began with the British North America Act, 1867 (currently officially called the Constitution Act, 1867). This act created the modern state of Canada by combining the Province of Canada (now Ontario and Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a dominion within the British Empire. Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday this year, 2017. And Labrador only became part of Canada when Newfoundland joined Confederation in 1949. The province officially changes its name to Newfoundland and Labrador by a constitutional amendment in 2001.
