wok is a utility pan. you can boil, fry. pan fry. basiclaly anytrhing you need to do. the shape makes it easy to shake and stir the contents. I just got a 14 inch cast iron version made my lodge. it is great.
I just turn it over when it cools off to dump the ashes out. Once you get to use it, and get used to it, it works really well. It is very efficient and burns really clean. I would feel comfortable using this in the house as long as you could vent it through a window, or the vent on the stove. Hope this helps, J
I ordered this unit online. But I received such terrible customer service from Todd. It’s amazing he’s still in business considering the way he treats his paying customers.
I just ordered mine John because of your good review....Looks like a great addition to my Silver fire rocket stove that I also just ordered because of your review....Thanks John and looking forward to using all three....Oh I got the silver fire scout also...Take care my brother and God Bless....
Very Impressive little unit there, Thanks for warning us with the Flame ups. I'll make sure to wear a depends when I cook on it so I don't soil my shorts.
made me hungry I'm gonna fry up some chicken strips and okra for supper good job..love the look of the new stove(and how it makes good use of bits and pieces of fuel) will have to have hubby look into getting one
Nice video man. I would have never considered using a wok to deep fry. Screw the 3 haters of the video, they wanted you to cook up chicken in 90 seconds in the wok (which you can without the oil).
That looks like a great stove! I like that you can burn lots of different things. Back in the old days, people rolled up old newspapers and tied them with string, soaked them in water, and dried them in the sun. Then they burned them like logs in their wood stove. I wonder how they would burn in that little stove?
Wow. Watching your video from 8 years ago, it is still relevant! Thank you. That chicken looked amazing. We bought our Silverfire Hunter a couple of years ago, but haven’t given it a test drive. The time is now! Question, as we bought an extender to go up our chimney to use in the interior of our house, does it throw out much heat? We are hoping it might throw out enough heat to warm our living room. Our fireplace doesn’t warm anything. Stay safe.
I love that friendly goat, and that pig that looks for attention like Mable. Boy, they all love you. When I was 6 years old, my sister [a year older] told me our grandfathers goat was just a dog. She told me to go in the pen and pet it. I went in the pen, and yep...I got butted by that "dog". Been a lifetime of goat fear...lol...but I like how friendly yours is. Glad your not gonna eat him.
With the difference of the two models, which do you prefer now? Also what is the main difference between the two models? Thanks Jon for reviewing these great stoves and showing us how you work with them.
It will not fit in a bucket, but I bet it will fit in a rubbermaid tub easily. Honestly I just leave mine out...lol. Hope this helps, thanks for watching. J
What a great item to have! I'd love to have one but don't have a spare $150 to throw at one. Would be great if it was a contest. :) I'll keep a lookout for that one! Great video and impressive too!
Ok if you haven't figured it out by now it's for stir fry p.s keep up the awesome work more videos would be awesome I really enjoy your video thanks again
Dont know for sure, but it was at least 45 minutes until the heat stopped coming. I probably would have put more fuel in at about 35 mins or so. Hope this helps Autumn, Thanks, J
Great! Now I'm undecided between Survivor & Hunter models. Upgraded Survivor due this month. Stir Fry: Great way to make a little meat go a long ways & feed a crowd. Google Stir Fry Cooking or Stir Fry recipes for lots of info. I have a couple carbon steel woks & have been doing stir fry for a long time. Thin strips of meat, assorted veggies, + ingredients for sauce. 1 chicken breast can feed several if stir fried with veggies + some rice on the side. There's more to a wok than just frying. !
You know at the end, when the coals are still red, you could wrap some taters in foil and bake them. Then, put a grill of some kind over the top of the opening grill yourself some burgers and hot dogs. Maybe some ears of corn. Oh my. Getting hungry! (:
Thanks for this vid. - I'm wondering, if you were to use this indoors, how do you safely deal with the open fire and flame during the lighting process?
For seasoning a carbon steel wok heat bottom all over until it turns bluish inside then you have a nonstick surface. Most people miss this step and get discouraged.
Good video. I watched one of your other videos on how to make charcoal. I was wondering if I could use this stove with a paint can stuffed with hard woods to do the same thing but on a much smaller scale. I don't have the privacy that you do and could not get away this a big bonfire but I could get away with a silverfire stove. Do you think it would work? Thanks!
I find it kind of funny. You've got oodles of vids on youtube describing how to do things and yet didn't look on youtube to learn how to use a wok. LOL. Good video by the way on the SilverFire.
Not everyone knows every thing I thought everyone knew what a wok was for and how to use it as its a multi purpose cooking tool that can be used as a sauce pan and a frying pan . . good video
Gee I need that wok and stove. I have given up looking for a decent wok here and the forced air flame, forget it. It costs a fortune. This looks like it would get really hot for wok frying verges.
It is still working just as it did when I made this video. I am very happy with it, and it is holding up great. I still use it a lot...............................J

I like that design! and woks are great for small wood cooking .... super efficient. Thanks for posting this

A wok is great it can be a frying pan, a deep fryer a soup pot they're very versatile. I've spent a lot of time in South East Asian i love them.

I plan coming up there in the spring when I get some personal time at work and I am coming hungry. So don't break the stove in till I get there.

This would be an ideal solution for a small woodstove in a cabin. Just install it on a concrete board & vent it outside.
What a great item to have! I'd love to have one but don't have a spare $150 to throw at one. Would be great if it was a contest. :) I'll keep a lookout for that one! Great video and impressive too!
Great video! I like your sense of humor..it's refreshing! Got yourself a new subscriber! Keep up the good work!

J
Hey J, for storage, I know they sell the carrying bag for it, but, will it fit in a 5 or 6 gallon bucket with a gamma lid on top?
Awesome,great video and great cooker.Thanks.Godbless.
I was wondering about that, thanks
J
that's a beautiful stove
The little silver fire will do the same thing with that wok :)
I love the Silver Fire Hunter stove. May I ask how much it costs. I would like to have it in my house or send it back home.
Dont know for sure, but it was at least 45 minutes until the heat stopped coming. I probably would have put more fuel in at about 35 mins or so. Hope this helps Autumn, Thanks,
J
I bought a picnic table top charcoal grill brand new at a garage sale for $10 and a $8 bag of matchlight : )
you mentioned venting it thru the stove. do you think the flames may damage the vent or plastic on the range hood??
man that's an efficient stove

J
Nice job on the chicken.... Love the videos .... Keep up the good work :)
you have freakin awesome tie-dye on!!!
I love this thing man, it is nice not to have to babysit the fire while you are cooking. Thanks bro.
J
You can use a wok for deep frying. That is if you want to!
lol...I will be doing that demonstration very soon..lol. Thanks bro.
J
Make sure to look into how to clean your wok properly. When done right like with an iron skillet you get more flavor out of your food. Happy eating!
Hey jnull0, I was wondering how that solar light system by,( what was it, EEC? ) was holding up, specifically how the 6v batteries were holding up.
Thanks for this vid. - I'm wondering, if you were to use this indoors, how do you safely deal with the open fire and flame during the lighting process?
Kent Heinke fire extinguisher

i would have used a part of a Fire Patty to start it..lol.. grate vid brother!!!!!!!

This is the unit I am most interested in...how long does it burn before you need to add more fuel?
Great Job!!!!
"Staten Island Prepper"
Actually, that was not the intended use of a Wok, but WTH, it worked just fine.
I find it kind of funny. You've got oodles of vids on youtube describing how to do things and yet didn't look on youtube to learn how to use a wok. LOL.

7:14 Perfectly legal to fry chicken in a wok, lol. It’s just a deep frying pan. We call it kadhai in India!
LOL...the chicken was fantastic bro. See what you will be having when you come for a visit..lol..(hint hint)
J
Was the chicken any good
Dare I say, I feel a slight bit of regret that I didn't keep this thing? JK, I knew you would use the hell out of it. Great job brother!
Can you tell me how can I order this wok. Thanks for the video.
What oil do you use for frying?
Did an awesome job! lol @ telling the goat to do some push ups :D
I think I am going to be having one for my subsciber contest here in the near future, so stay tuned..lol. Thanks,
J

How do you clean it out?
Can it also heat up a small room?
So, is this a gasified stove?
How much? I loveit
I would like to have one of them bad boys..
it sounds like youtube and trolls go together like things that go together
Jnull0, now that you've owned it for over 1.5 years, how has it held up? Have you experienced anything to praise it less than originally you did?
It is still working just as it did when I made this video. I am very happy with it, and it is holding up great. I still use it a lot...............................J
