      DWS Outdoors yep, I do have a question though, did you cut the supports at a angle so they fit more snug? Or did you just cut them straight?

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Sorry just seen this now! I cut everything straight except the ones under the front deck I matched the angles needed to have them flush with the bench! But looking back at it I probably should have cut the floor supports to match the angles of the boats so as not to have pressure points!

      Go to your local big box store that sells big TVs or Refrigerators and ask if you can get a giant box to use the cardboard and make a template where you want the floor and trace it out and cut it down till you have what you want than build from there! If you have Facebook Tinyboatnation is your best friend for ideas and "how to's" on builds!

    There is not that many videos on mirrocraft boats that ive noticed. I have a 1966 14ft mirrocraft that I've been slowly restoring \ building. Its my first boat. Mine is exactly like yours but I don't have the very front shelf in mine or the anchor buddy. I'm gonna try and restore my bench seats. I haven't seen anyone yet try to restore the bench seats. The wood under them is pretty rotten and the metal sides have some bad rust spots through them. The best part I think about my boat is that I've actually found most of my materials for free out of construction dumpsters. Metal, foam blocks and wood creates. I really look forward to getting it finished for me and my 8 year old son to fish out of it hopefully this summer. I've been subed to your channel for awhile now cause of your boat but the other night I looked through your videos and it looks like I'm gonna have to start binge watching your channel! I really like how you get into detail and take the time to explain everything. Most RUclipsrs don't do that. They just fish and not really tell you how to find the fish and what works best. I'm surprised you don't have 100k - million subs! Oh and if you want to clean up your wires where they are out of the way better the top rail is hollow. The back corners come off pretty easy to give ya a little more wiggle room for running wires through the top channel. Thanks for the videos!

    I love the fact that you take the time to explain what you did and how you did it! I have an 80's Mirrocraft as well that I'm planning on putting a casting desk on as well so this helps! Keep getting better, can't wait to see you out on the water! 🙂

    Thanks. You're giving me some good ideas. I'll fill in the hull with 2x6's as a base. then I'll build the platform (framed out) and just lay it over the middle and front seat. What was your plywood thickness? I'm thinking of going with 3/4 inch. Easily removable and I won't have to remove any bench seats as you did. I like the battery idea. I would like you to do a video on your front electric mounting if you ever have the time though. Your ideas were very helpful.

    Great video, I’ve got the same boat. Could you tell me the length/width of your bottom floor? I have a very slim gap under my benches so it seems like it will be difficult to squeeze a 3/8 sheet under there.

      Its actually a 8x4ft piece of plywood just trimmed down to match the curve up front!

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  Месяц назад

      I just remembered you also need another piece of plywood to cut down and fill in the gap from the back seat to where the 8ft piece ends from the front!

    Does the boat move alot when using the casting deck?

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  3 года назад

      I have pretty good balance so I do not notice it but if you were super heavy or tall it would probably be best to find yourself a good flat bottom so you have more stability!

  • @PatrickDickson-hj3bu
    @PatrickDickson-hj3bu Год назад +1

    Nice and easy. I just picked up a 1970 mirro craft and when I took out the middle seat I noticed the 3 peices of wood slat were rotted. Just something to watch out for if someones got an older boat. Slats should be easy to replace which I am getting ready to do.
    I did not strap and may not put the middle seat back in. Do you think this can hinder the boats action or safety. My thinking is I have 2 boys 4 and 5. I want to give them room to feel comfterble standing, fishing, etc. Do you think this is ok?

      Thiago A. I ended up just using outdoor treated wood but was told later on that I should have just spent the money on marine grade plywood! But I have had this boat for about 4-5 years now and everything is holding up! But I have always stored it in a garage!

    I have a 14 ft Aluminum Lowes boat that has a 582 pound capacity for people motor and equipment. I am concerned that the amount of wood being added is 300-400 pounds, which significantly decreases the capacity. If you fish alone then great but if not, be cautious of capacity. You could be liable.

      Otherwise its kinda wedge fit if you get what I mean? Thats why I took out the middle bench and made the deck to fit under it tight as well as the back bench and front... so I didn't have to actually attach any of that to the boat!
