Owls are spooky birds, I played owl calls to Lear one come to me, no owls but I heard hooting a sign of owls. If it went into defense posture I would run for my life as fast as I can that day when I was trying to make a owl come to me I was wearing running shoes I would be faster than the owl

The more I think about it. The more I come to realize that cats and owls are like two sides of the same coin in the animal kingdom. The difference obviously is that one’s a bird while the other is a mammal, but the way how they are both can be extremely silent and stealthy and both have the predator instinct to hunt or kill any creature that is smaller than them and how they both are mostly active at night while having a similar intimidation stance where they both puff up their fur/feathers once feeling threatened. Not to mention when both encounter each other it’s almost as if they see and alternate version of themselves. Almost as if they are equals Both curious Both unwilling to back off from one another Cat thrashing it’s tail left to right Owl making rapid clicking sounds with it’s beak

Even though these species are from a very different branches of the family tree that is life on Earth, they are both (nu pun intended) Tree dwelling, nocturnal animals. They live and hunt in pretty much the same time and spaces. Being effective in that environment, requires certain specific traits. And it is those traits that make these creatures look and act in such similar fashion.

In fact, its parent(s) is/are probably nearby, watching it. This is actually pretty normal behavior. Owlets (esp. Bubo sp. like this great horned owlet) tend to wander away from their nest and explore as they learn about nature and their environment. I've seen photos and videos of owlets ending up in people's garages, on playgrounds, and in other places. That being said, yes, it was clearly defensive of the cat, and that's why it puffed up like that.

Right...this is a large species owl, stronger than red tailed hawks, large species owls have long sharp talons and huge feet which both pack a crushing power of 300 pounds per square inch, so if the parent were around and that cat tried to mess with their baby, 300 lb per square inch on the cat and its dead, especially if they get it on the head the talons are gonna go right through the skull with ease and plus the cat wont even hear the parent owl coming since they are silent hunters :)
True, ppl like that often talk with no knowledge of what they're talking about. Like I said ive owed many animals including cats and large birds. And those beaks can bite and break through small bones easily. Cat would not have a chance at all.
