    The irony about the war weariness thing is that Alexander had to stop his invasion of India because his army was so sick of fighting after 11 years of warfare that they stopped and demanded he turn around. Alexander, ever the level-headed and wise, sulked in his tent for 3 days.

    I don't understand how this guy is so good. Every game I play makes me start next to three barbarians, which one always scouts me and produces like 5 warriors and they just destroy my capital and capture my settler

    • @anabolicchicken4115
      @anabolicchicken4115 3 года назад +7

      For real, that barbarian spam in the first two eras is very fucking annoying.

    • @Ceannadach
      @Ceannadach 2 года назад +12

      Restart your game then. Find a spot till you have some space. If you are close to barbarians, queue up this setup:
      Slinger, Warrior, Warrior, Builder and Slinger. Go into the archery tree once animal husbandry is completed. From there, if your archery doesn’t come in yet, kill a scout and get your archers (upgrade your slingers). Once you have at least two archers and three warriors, leave one Warrior behind and attack the nearest settlement of barbarians with your other groups. Once you have made your set up, your best bet would be to do bronze working and then iron working. I have found that horse back riding is meh. It’s not bad or great, it’s meh. If you want to move faster, then do horsemen and then bronze working. But the only reason I say be careful with horsemen is because most barbarians have spearmen and they reek havoc on your horsemen.
      Also, this setup starts you out pretty well to take care of city-states, too. But you probably need to have archers before you attempt to attack a city-state. You can get away with slingers on barbarian camps, but not city-states or capitals.
      If the barbarians are coming to you very early in the game (within the first 10 turns), do not go explore with your warrior. Or at least, not very far.
      Note: this setup is specifically for early conquest and for a domination pathway. (Don’t forget to put your +5 combat strength card in your military slot for your policies.).

      @@Ceannadachthanks for that share bud, i know your comment was over 2 years old, but I wanna scrape off some of your knowledge bro, when it comes to war, do you keep it to the 10 turns, go to peace and then war again when build up and ready to kill (in early game) I've found when I war to take down a 2-3 city civ, i often find myself stuck getting archers, then getting batering rams and then cats because the enemy cities tech up and get harder to conquer as I move forward. I feel it stunts me having to do it hardway like that with tech and keeping up with the joneses or the world civs in technology, your advice or a suggested video would be greatly appreciated.

      He was fortunate with the terrain because his capital was surrounded by mountains and small chokepoints. Even if he was attacked it was likely to fail.
      On the other hand it makes domination harder for him because it's also hard for him to get units through that terrain. That's why the encampment in Methone was put in a great spot - it blocked Brazil and feeds new units directly into their nearest city.

    Potato - I'm sorry: I'm one of the 80%
    Normally, I only subscribe to the people who I watch daily.
    I will say ... every time I watch your videos (only a small handful so far as I just found your channel - basically just started with your Japanese play-through) ... I learn a lot!
    What the heck, you seem like a good guy, and the way you describe the abysmal 80% non-subscription viewers does make it seem a bit harsh for you ... so here's to a new subscriber 🥃 (I dunno what that emoji is: pretend it's a shot glass)
    I may not watch every video of yours, but this Macedon series looks like it'll be a good one.
    (edit was to remove the extra line-spaces ... I dunno why when I comment on the actual youtube website and hit hit for a new line, it adds an additional empty line ... it doesn't do that in the mobile app ...)

    Does anybody know do the mods turn off the steam achievements like it was in Civ 5?
    Really like this one with turn HUD off but don’t want my achievements to be turned off.

    Potato, choose the next Civic before policies so you would know for how many turns you choose these policies. Several times, you plugged the policies without benefits, i.e. four turns of unit production boost while having five-ten turns of building production in your cities.

    In retrospect, I think trading with Brazil would have been a better move to have a road between your capital, 2nd city, and 2 Brazilian cities. Easier to move your units over there for war.
