  • Alaska pays people to live there. And rural cities in Kansas, Nebraska and Minnesota give new residents free land. Now there’s an effort to offer a financial incentive to Boston-area residents willing to move West. Stephanie Leydon hit the road in search of the would-be pay off.

I’m currently living on the east coast (North Shore), about 65 km north of Boston. In my opinion, maybe this is because I don’t have to commute daily, but the traffic in Boston isn’t that bad, rush hour can get a little hectic, but overall, not as bad as people say. Boston has a lot of nice parts of it, Chinatown, north end, and several Middle Eastern places have amazing food, along with pizzeria Regina’s. It’s a fairly safe city, only having a total crime rate 6% higher than the national average, and 83% higher than MA’s average, it is fairly walkable, lot of activities, people are kind, right by the coast, high wages. The cost of living and housing, I will admit, is atrociously high, so I can understand the senators’ initiative to try to get Western mass more of the success and population to balance out Boston and the rural areas

MA has some of the best stats in the country.
The state has one of the highest GDP per capitas, some of the highest wages, amazing education, beautiful small towns, walkable cities, low crime rate, the lowest incarcerated population per capita in the country, at 97 prisoners for every 100,000 people, amazing healthcare, the only downside is cost of living, and infrastructure

I can understand, not wanting to live in mass if you’re younger and single, because the benefits of education, a low crime rate, and good healthcare are usually more attractive to seniors and people looking to start a family, so maybe Massachusetts, being expensive, and not necessarily giving you the best option if you’re in that 18-24 your old bracket might not be the best option, but it definitely is for the people that know it is
