I don't know how someone hit the dislike, this was amazing, i learned more in 14 minutes than I've learned in probably 3 months of reading information on sonar technology
this is the first video I've watched of fish finders and I'm pretty sure I won't come across anything more detailed than this video. Such an awesome video. Thank you!
Valuable feedback for us content producers (good or bad, just nice to hear what's working too). We appreciate fresh content ideas on anything you'd like to see in the future.
That was the best explanation and demonstration of how to use and understand a fish finder that I've ever seen! As a newbie to these devices, I appreciate and thank you very much!
thank you very much. you don't know how many videos i have watched to learn about down and side imaging. By far the best I have seen. I have learned more from your video than the last 100's I have seen somewhere else. thank you again
THANK YOU, this video has helped me so much..i'm ashamed to say I have been watching sonar type videos for about 2 yrs, your video has made it easy for me to understand. Thank you again
Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. I have 2 new helix units on my boat and this has really help me understand how to better use them.
Awesome video on how to read your fish finder. It really helps me figure out in my mind what I’m looking at on the screen. I am looking forward to getting back out on the water.
Absolutely the best video on how to interpret the different functions on a fish finder. Love the dual shots of the diving cameraman to also help explain. I am a beginner so this video helped me understand so much more. Excited to get out and practice my abilities to interpret my fish finder.
Your wired2fish obviously but I think your also wired to make great educational fishing videos!!! Absolutely top notch production and talking content. Professional all the way around.
Well, we certainly appreciate the kind words. Comments like this motivate us to produce more and better fishing videos in the future. Good fishing to you.
Firstly the thanks and I had to add to the rave reviews. I am looking at the ‘castables’ and came to despair about the fact that none of the reviews actually gave any information about using / reading the device. I can now buy a device with confidence. It is just such awesome content
Scott, I’ve fished with your dad a few times when I still lived near Clewiston and followed him on TV for years. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! . What a great job this piece is for someone who usually ignores the true value of my sonar equipment. Great explanations and repeating it really made it come clear. Keep up the great work and best of luck in your tournament schedule. Larry H
Much appreciated Larry. We're privileged to having fishing in our lives (first and foremost) and even luckier to make educational media with awesome products.
QUALITY content, Wired2Fish. Finally got me to hit that Subscribe button. You also convinced me to go dig up my old sonar manual so I can better understand what it's doing
This us hands down the most informative "how to" fish finder video. You explained it all simply enough for me to understand all aspects of interpreting the information from a fish finder. I have now subscribed to your channel. Thanks again for the great video. -Tight lines
THANK YOU THANK YOU!! This is why I run a bird, this was by far the most informative video i have seen on the unit as a whole and it has answered some side scan questions i had.GREAT VIDEO!!!
Nice! I learned soooooo much from THIS video. Now I feel more confident on using my new fish finder.Muchas gracias amigo.Much love and support from Mexico.
You bet, thanks for the feedback David. We're doing a similar shoot in the near future. Let us know of any questions you may have or general electronics topics of interest.
Awesome video! I now understand what I'm looking at on 2D & Down Imaging. Very cool underwater look and what it looks like on the screen. Keep up the great work W2F!
Absolutely bar none the best video I have ever seen boys. I fish a deep reservoir that has no lake map, but I've been building my own with humminbirds autochart. I cannot wait to get out in this post spawn time frame and check out this new information you have provided. Thank you
Thanks Bradford. This was filmed a few years ago but all of the concepts still apply. The technology is even better today with higher resolution side imaging (MEGA Imaging), for greater detail and at greater ranges.
Nice job, but I’m still having trouble trying to figure out where I am in relation to the information on the screen as it scrolls past. In looking at structure scan I understand I’m seeing straight down on left/right of keel... and the distance out to whatever structure. But where is it on down scan.... and echo. Is subject matter just as the boat passes over and shows on the right coming left across the screen, then out behind the boat as the subject matter disappears from the left side of machine? And then what’s best, make a waypoint, and gps spot lock off to the side and fish.... or throw a marker out , come around and fish toward it? Trying to learn this stuff. Thanks.
I have a older unit that is just down scan. If I would have waited another 4 month the option of both 2d and down scan would have been an option. Dang!! I am still not sure what I am looking at sometimes. And understanding what is a fish and what is just a dot of interference. Thank you Jeff for making this video. Seeing the 2d and down imaging side by side is very helpful. Now I want to get back out there and look at stuff and see if I understand it more.
Thanks for the feedback Gary. Understanding the images takes time on the water. It's nice in clear water when you can see with your naked eye then reference to your unit. Logs, rocks, brush, etc.
Very detailed and informative video! I'm going to be looking into getting a fish finder for a kayak in the joy not too distant future. This video will definitely help me with the learning curve! Gotta add it to my favorites for reference in the future!
great video, I have a less expensive hummingbird but this was a big help. please keep these coming. plus I'm a drone pilot so I like the aerial shots too.
Thanks for the comment Terry. We're happy and fortunate to have the opportunity to deliver content like this to an audience interested in learning more about electronics.
this helped me out big time. thanks a lot... i'm having a hard time understansing what im seeing on my screen. next time i get out on the water im going to do a master reset to start from scratch.. i messed around with it last time i was out, got frustrated and turned it off.. lol
So when you find the fish on the screen ..... Your readings coming from under the boat ?? How do you know where to cast ? Or how far left or right fwd or backward would you know where to cast. Or do you drop it right off the side of the boat ? Soon to buy a fish finder but a little lost there ?
Excellent educational video. Need more like this to maximize technology and land more fish in the boat. User's manual is not as helpful. Thanks a million.
Very informative. I have a Lowrance and an Eagle on my Tracker Targa from 2005 when I got the boat new. I want to get at least one with modern technology but, in 2005 I was able to pay cash for a new boat. Being retired now I am looking at the lower end units. I would like to see videos of some of the lower priced units. I watched this one more then once. Thanks for your effort to put out a very informative video.
Hi Bill, appreciate the comment and we'll cover down on some more of the price point units in the near future. The beauty is 2D, 2D w CHIRP, Down Imaging and Side Imaging technology has been brought down to many entry level units as well from all the major manufacturers. A lot of the cost is associated with big units is screen size and computer processing power, but 5-7'' screens are plenty good for a lot of folks, and price from as low as $350 - $700 and packed with the same technology as seen in this video.
The Humminbird Helix 7 G2 Sonar (goo.gl/4ZhHAz) packs a lot of punch for the money. There's 8 models with various technology combinations with prices ranging from $400 to $800. If you prefer Lowrance, their Elite 5 or 7 Ti Sonar is another good option (goo.gl/hh3U17).
I don't know how someone hit the dislike, this was amazing, i learned more in 14 minutes than I've learned in probably 3 months of reading information on sonar technology
prob a bunch of kids

@@BasilFJ19 or recent 2d sonar purchasers
My guess would be because not everyone can afford electronics of this level....
this is the first video I've watched of fish finders and I'm pretty sure I won't come across anything more detailed than this video. Such an awesome video. Thank you!
I've watched alot of videos about how to read sonar and this video is by far the best I've seen yet

This is by far the best video I've seen to tie the different sonar views together. Great job, guys!
The best video I have found on sonar technologies.
Valuable feedback for us content producers (good or bad, just nice to hear what's working too). We appreciate fresh content ideas on anything you'd like to see in the future.
AvidSportsman ohh wired2fish, we got a Beauty and the Beast fan here! did you edited the answer?
Wired2Fish how about how to fish a mojo rig?
AvidSportsman jjigae
Wired2Fish do you have any videos on saltwater and fluke? How to differentiate fluke from a rock or bottom structure?
That was the best explanation and demonstration of how to use and understand a fish finder that I've ever seen! As a newbie to these devices, I appreciate and thank you very much!
thank you very much. you don't know how many videos i have watched to learn about down and side imaging. By far the best I have seen. I have learned more from your video than the last 100's I have seen somewhere else.

Good deal! Glad it helped and thanks for watching!
THANK YOU, this video has helped me so much..i'm ashamed to say I have been watching sonar type videos for about 2 yrs, your video has made it easy for me to understand. Thank you again
Finally a video that explains what I'm looking at. I had no clue and all the other videos didn't explain a thing
this has been kicking my butt for a year now. thanks for the intro. i will be using this info to try and learn mine the next time i go out.
Good deal Glen and good luck. Hopefully you get it dialed.
absolutely by far the best video explaining sonar and switching between different screens.
Thank you for taking the time to put this video together.
I have 2 new helix units on my boat and this has really help me understand how to better use them.
Awesome video on how to read your fish finder. It really helps me figure out in my mind what I’m looking at on the screen. I am looking forward to getting back out on the water.
This was hands down the most informative video for electronics ive ever seen! Thank you very much for this video!
Thanks for watching! Appreciate the kind words!
Great demonstration on how to use sonar. It's amazing how people buy these expensive units but never take the time to learn how to use them.
This really helped to put a visual on what a fish finder is showing. Great Idea, Thanks!
The best video I have seen on reading down and sonar. Well done!
What a tremendously well-done video! I am back into fishing after several years and this really helped me catch up on the technology.
This is the best video I've seen so far for understanding this technology. Thank you so much! 👍🏻
Best video by far on how to read a fishfinder. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely the best video on how to interpret the different functions on a fish finder. Love the dual shots of the diving cameraman to also help explain. I am a beginner so this video helped me understand so much more. Excited to get out and practice my abilities to interpret my fish finder.
Oblivious and stressed to learn my new Humminbird. Knowledge is Power, thanks guys AWESOME video!
Good deal Gregg. Just keep consuming as much info you can then it's time on the water. You'll be an expert before you know it!
Best video ever on explaining what we see on a fish finder!!!!
Best sonar video!! I've watched so many other ones and this is by far the best! I learned so much! Thank you wired2fish!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
I'm sold. Definitely my next electronics purchase.
Happy to hear it, you'll be happy with the purchase.
Great video. I would love to spend a day with you just understanding my finders and feeling more confident using them. Best I've seen in a long time.

I'm assuming the people who disliked this video didn't speak English. This video was great and very informative.

That side imaging is incredible
QUALITY content, Wired2Fish. Finally got me to hit that Subscribe button. You also convinced me to go dig up my old sonar manual so I can better understand what it's doing
Brilliant. Now I have a starting point of what to look for in a fish finder and why.
This us hands down the most informative "how to" fish finder video. You explained it all simply enough for me to understand all aspects of interpreting the information from a fish finder. I have now subscribed to your channel. Thanks again for the great video.

Awesome and thanks. Good luck on the custom map - Autochart Live is sweet!
One of the best tutorials! Thank you!
Thanks Bradford. This was filmed a few years ago but all of the concepts still apply. The technology is even better today with higher resolution side imaging (MEGA Imaging), for greater detail and at greater ranges.

Happy to hear this. Good luck fishing this year, and using/learning electronics!
Nice job, but I’m still having trouble trying to figure out where I am in relation to the information on the screen as it scrolls past. Wired2Fish off the top of your head, are there any new or used fish finders under $500 that you would recommend?
The Humminbird Helix 7 G2 Sonar (goo.gl/4ZhHAz) packs a lot of punch for the money. There's 8 models with various technology combinations with prices ranging from $400 to $800. If you prefer Lowrance, their Elite 5 or 7 Ti Sonar is another good option (goo.gl/hh3U17).
Wired2Fish I've been looking for a new unit I can't decide lowrance hds7 or Garmin chirp 94sv any other suggestions ?
That is a great rock findeR!! glad it works for fish to
