@@m.s682my trip went really great. Best trip I ever did in my life tbh. I went for 6-7 days and was able to visit areas like Shibuya, shinjuku, okubo (Korea town), asakusa, sumida, ueno, roppongi, nakano and I did end up going to koenji as well!
Loved all these recommendation! Are a lot of these foreigner friendly? My friend and I live for these more lowkey experiences ,but most of these smaller, local places we tried going to last time we were in Tokyo turned us away, even though we studied up on our basic Japanese.
I am sorry that happened to you. It's depending on the izakaya, izakaya you went to might have trouble about cover charge, ordering ,or something. And some want to just focus on only regular customer. I think it would not happen in Ueno! they are super friendly and welcome especially izayakas on the street
Out In America, we don’t really eat heart, intestines… it’s almost taboo. You couldn’t find it on 99% of American menus. But I see it’s popular in Japan. Can you tell us how it compares to chicken thighs, legs, wings, or breast?
the reason why we eat intestines is during the post-war period of food shortages, a practice of consuming all parts of animals, including offal, became widespread to reduce waste. Specifically, beef and pork intestines (motsu) were valued for their high nutritional content and affordability. yes, it has more texture and soft not smell at all haha

@ShoMeJapan I live in Melbourne, Australia. Even a bowl of ramen costs anywhere between ¥2500 to ¥3500 and gyoza is normally ¥1500 for 5 pieces 🥲 I'm coming to Tokyo next month to look at some neighborhoods and remind myself what Japan summer feels like 😅might have to book a tour!
