This is one of your best guests yet!!! One big take away is you can recover your joy or finally find it which gambling destroys. Wish this woman continued joy. ❤️

This is where I find myself.. I just can’t stop.. I’ve been repeating these cycles last 2 and a half years.. I’m scared I won’t be able to stop.. so I restarted journaling.. and writing down my recent losses to remind myself all this stuff a lie.. -$700.00 past 9 days.. after I counted the losses.. Permanent no gambling zone from here on out.

You gotta let that go I gambled my entire bank account away that I spent years saving and then just went on to gamble away everything right as I earned it , no win will be enough to stop even if you get your money back , trust me I know. I am actively living in hell my weeks consist of winning and feeling a little better and then losing it all again a. Few days later. It’s a miserable existence.

Thanks for this feedback. I'm always nervous when telling my story and maybe that comes across as insincerity. Seeing people be criticized for how they told their story held me back from speaking for a long time. Now I'm grateful for it as it gives me an opportunity to reflect on how I showed up and try to improve. You're right we need more women represented in these spaces. I've got a few friends who are older than my 48 years who I can introduce to Rob. What a great suggestion!

The comments about books remind me of something funny - There is a BlackJack book out there that is titled something like "How to win at BlackJack without card counting" - and basically the very first thing it says is "You can't actually win at BlackJack without card counting - this book just helps you play the right general strategy so you can have some good sessions" or something like that.

It's been proven that gambling has the same addictive properties as p*rn and drugs. It's also highly detrimental. And it makes sense. Many drugs work by replicating chemicals already in your brain, just in insane quantities. Basically you're becoming addicted to your own brain chemicals. It would make sense that if you could somehow get your brain to produce those chemicals, instead of by using drugs, but by stimuli, I don't see why you can't become addicted.
I'm glad you were able to just stop, but that's not everyone. I've been able to just stop things that are highly addictive too. I was able to just stop using opioids. But that doesn't mean I look down on those who become addicted.
