For Christopher Johnson, who worked for two decades as a China analyst at the CIA, the truth is in the messy middle. Today, Johnson is president and CEO of China Strategies Group and a senior fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis. He argues that a better U.S.-China policy requires a more nuanced understanding of Xi and his power.

It is WILD to me to listen to these people spend all this time talking about how poorly the Chinese government handled their COVID policy while sitting in…the United States of America. I’m no shill for the CCP but come on.
I thought that was quite strange. The only real criticism he had for China was this? The rest of the points were arguing for their side or even apologetic for China.
A policy of ignoring covid turns out to have been the best policy.
