In Australia we have these with a V8 turbo diesel. They are the go to vehicle for towing here. I have one to genuinely take it off-road and they are brilliant at it with a 2 inch lift and proper tyres. I use magnetic panel protectors because I too don’t want to damage the panels.
My sister and brother in law got 400k out of their 1998 LC before selling it last summer. They also live in the sierras and to say it wasn’t babied is an understatement. The motor was still Lexus smooth, super impressive. Original exhaust system. Food for thought, our Durango SRT can get 20+ on the highway if you keep it below 80. Luxury today is about how much crap can you stuff in a vehicle where luxury in the past was all about build quality, simplicity and elegance. Just look at old W126 mercs, Lincolnshire, caddys and even Bentley and Rolls. How times have changed.
I think the amount of tech in this is perfect. Kinda small well integrated screen for some of the deeper stuff and like radio, but a ton of buttons and dials for everything else. Feels like early 2010s, which I've found to be my favorite era for interiors because of that. Not so archaic to be hard to use in modern day, but still all the buttons and dials you'd want.
What's missing in the Yank version is the 4.5 liter turbo diesel V8 you get in other markets, like Australia. In a place that has more speed cameras than kangaroos, all you need is enough get up and go to keep up, and the diesel version does that admirably. It also works well on the minesite.

It's not just Toyota's V8s that are indestructible, it's basically their whole engine line-up since the 1990s!
