Wanted to tell you a friend and I used your video for a reference and swapped both of his turbos, and it helped us tremedously. Sorry you had that coolant leak at the end, but we made dang sure we got those coolant lines snapped in and everything buttoned down good and started her up to a perfect purr. Thank you thank you thank you, there are not enough of these videos but yours makes a big difference!
I would like add, when the turbos are pulled for coolant leaks it would be a good idea to replace the oil supply filters, there only $40 each, far cheaper than a new turbo. These filters are very seldom mentioned in the turbo repairs.
I just went through replacing both turbos and the vacuum pump (oil leak and gasket leaks) via the shop. They took the whole cab off in order to get to everything. It was a $4500 repair job. I wouldn't recommend someone attempt this unless they are very sure what they are doing. It would be a tough one man job. Great video, glad you were able to make it work.
There are metal oil lines that run to the turbo. You need to replace those to fix the leak. Most people just go and buy upgraded turbos at this point since first gen Ecoboost turbos are pretty maxed out as is. They will be your first "serious" upgrade anyways. I say, get a set of Garretts, call the tuning shop and send it.
Been there with the turbos. I paid $1150.00 to have that done. Worth every penny. I know 3 people that did it themselves, same result you had. I am a master carpenter, not an auto mechanic in todays auto world. That is why I went to the professionals in that profession. one year and 17,000 miles later, no leaking.
you needed to replace the fittings on the block as well, Dorman makes replacement lines for both left and right, they come with the fittings and cost about $56 on Rock Auto.
No issues with head gaskets on the 3.5 v6. It has timing chain and water pump issues for lack of owners using good oil and changing it often and the water pump goes bad from lack of fluid flushes. The 2.3 ecoboost has the head gasket issues and they fixed it.
Reinstalled the same turbo that is past it's life cycle is nuts. Any turbo with more than 70,000 miles should not just be reinstalled. All that labour went in the garbage. For $400 you could have upgraded the center sections and they would last 150,000 miles. Inexperience shows. Ps coolant tubes are known to crack
Have to always replace coolant tubes and also oil tube and other stuff that is related to turbo filter ect since your already there, reason for the o-rings and you did good with the rest. Its BS you cant just buy the o-rings u have to buy whole dam tubes for the o-rings. They made it as a repeat repair money pit / cheapest way for factory to build as well. Its a nightmare to get to rear firewall ones, easiest way i found have a lift and cab removal. But possible either way. Im flat rate and warranty only pays 3.5 hrs and cust pay is 4.5. you will spend that time with a mirror trying and trying some more and possibly dmg new stuff when reinstalling. Takes an hr or lil less and u can have cab off and do everything perfect. With no issues a little more work but so much less stress and can inspect so much more and yea. GL
I recently replaced my coolant fittings on the passenger side turbo. When re-assembling the coolant hose that runs from the back of the engine to the turbo started leaking. I believe this happened when i was re connecting the hoses on the turbo side. seems like a slight movement broke the seal, I was so frustrated. Luckily I was able to reach my arm between the back of the engine and firewall and replace that fitting as well. cost me about $100 with gaskets, coolant, and fittings. Saved myself a $1,500 shop fee.
Nour,,,sorry for asking bro but is it actually coolant leaking??? I'm thinking it's the ac condensing water.... some car leaves puddles like that when it's hot like crazy outside

if your connectors are leaking from the turbo then you can garentee they are going to leak from both connectors on opposite ends of pipe. especially the pipe that you adjust up out of the way to remove the turbos. the old sealing o-rings seal to the pipe and when you move it it tears the o-rings. next step, remove the intake manifold and replace the quick connects at the back of the heads, then remove the turbos again, c.a.c, and the air conditioning pump and replace the coolant quick connect fittings on the side of the heads. sigh..
Open the boot , look at the top , check if that plastic cover is pulled down , if it’s up it won’t allow you to open or close , so open the boot , you’ll feel the cover at the top , make sure it’s pulled open to allow the top to go up and fit in when it’s down

Whats the logic behind the ecoboost being better for towing? Diesels are for towing tbh... Ecoboost is just more economical than V8 F150 models.
Ecoboosts can tow if equipped properly up to 13,200 pounds and the v8 can only tow up to 10,800.
