This is a great tutorial. I'm currently at Photoshop World 2017 Orlando, and I heard about this technique, and I couldn't wait to search for a video that showed more about the technique. Thanks Otis
cool thank you! i totally forgot about this and you remainded me. what i didn't know was about the copying from one layer and pasting it and get it in in the right position. i mean what you did with the flag was awesome and new for me! thank you very much! Greetings from Chicago!
Great tutorial! I especially enjoy your presentation with zooming to the relevant controls and the red under- or out-lining animations--it all works to impart the lesson very clearly.
Thanks for tutorial. I like using stack mode. There is one more trick with this mode. If you need make picture in a night but don't have tripod use highest ISO and make series of pictures with high speed shutter. Then by using stack mode kill noise ))
Question: Would it be better to edit RAW files in LR before stacking? Or is it the same quality as the process that you showed in this vid? I ask because I haven't done this kind of edit before and if you could shed light on the learning curve, it would be great :)
Thank you for a very useful tutorial. I couldn't get perfect result, but I guess that having only three photos of the same place were not enough, I will definitely go back to the place I liked and try to improve the result. Thank you!
Marian, yes, that was the problem. I would say no less than 8 photos. But it really depends on how many people are moving through the scene. I've used as many as 30.
Thanks - I have seem a couple of tutorials using 'mean' as stacking mode, now I understand why 'median' has the potential of making a cleaner image :-)
wow i just found this video and your channel, this is so cool and useful for me! and i have a funny feeling that i'll find heaps of value in your other videos too! gonna be checking them out. thank you!
Well, another good day, I learned something new. Well presented. Now that I know that this is possible, I can envision situations where I could create the photo sets. PS has some amazing features. Thank you for this video.
Wow!!! That was awesome! One question though。 Instead of cropping errors out, can u bring one of the image in and use masking to fix the errors? Or use the copy and paste method you showed us here
I have no idea how to use PS but your tutorial i very helpful. How ever,i hate short keys and you just did that at the at the end of the video WITH MAC which i dont have. I dont know if it is the same in PC,but anyway i will try this out. Thank for the effort!!!
I knew that one for a while... but honestly It never really worked for me. Probably because the places i really wanted to use it on were alot more busy. I did see that i took enough shot to have every square meter in the image empty at one time or another. But I think if any given place is empty only in a few shots. E.g. one tourists leaves another comes in etc. It fails. So in other words... helpful for a few tourists but not really for a tourist hotspots. At least I havent had any luck with stack modes... came closer with manually masking it. But of cause that is just the technique. You presentation was great as always.
Hi Jesus, This tutorial taught me so much. Linking this tutorial with your recent 'button mode action' tutorial, would it be feasible to create an action for the statistics method? I think not, as there will need to be a pause for selecting the images? Keep up the fantastic work. Mark
Mark, I guess you could do one. Just off the top of my head though, I'm not sure how much time an Action would save if all you are doing is running the Statistics script.
OK, here it is. drive.google.com/open?id=0B0TE6UhgqshZTzRVSzVvOUdlMU0 The left one is yours. What I did: I took only 3 pics (with rather similar positions) and copied the empty spaces into the ones with persons. Put some clouds in it an mirrored the clouds in the building on the LHS. I don't have to stack or crop. I left the dark (shadowed) parts as is, it works more natural for me. Everything stays in position as is. My editing software is PhotoLine. I quess, my appraoch is much faster. Best regards from Stuttgart, Germany.
Guys, I remember seeing this stack feature, on a smartphone, that promised to "eliminate crowds" in photos of tourists attractions, but I don't remember which phone it was, do any of you know which phone was that? PS.: I remember it was like 1-2 years ago, and the test was made in the Athens Acropolis, or a place similar.
I couldn't do this step "Apply The Median Stack Mode To The Smart Object", when i go to the layer option and to smart object, the stack mode option is available but i can't click on it.I made sure that the smart object i made is selected. Please help me!!!

If you have raw files, I would process them first in Lr or Camera RAW, then do the stacking.
This was great. My only question is what happened to the flag in the final image?
Woopsy Daisy! lol
lol I logged in to like and subscribe. Instructions were very clear and there's no bullshit promotion at the start
Thank you, phoenixtian!

Yeah, you can do that. Better yet, use a tripod!
In this example I wanted to show the worst case scenario.
Outstanding. Thank you very much for that video.

Jens, yeah, on areas with heavy traffic you need to make sure that people move and reveal different areas. It can be tricky and you need a good eye.
Excellent and understandable tutorial. Thanks

Great tutorial, Jesus. Thanks.
You're welcome, Eric!
Wanted to know whether you have a video to prevent banding while editing images in PS.
I do not, unfortunately.
Is there a big difference between mean and median? This is also good for reducing noise :)
They're very similar, but median tends to work better for removing objects.
and, yes it is!!!
it's amazing tutorial and good narator :)
Thank you!
The picture you cropped at the end and the final pic are not the same (check the flag you talked about).
Anyway it is a good tutorial! Thank you!
Good eye ;)

Try the Statistics method shown at 6:09.
I still keep seeing people vaguely in the smart object I've created, what can I do to really see only the buildings ?
why doesnt my stack mode appear? i see it in the dropdown tab but it doesnt highlight itself so i am unable to click it
Did you load all the photos?
I also am having this problem... what am I doing wrong?

Omg is amazing
Thank you!

Ayyy that's Oakland
That's right!
Hi, in my PS 2015 I havent buttton: "creat smart object after loading layers" . (2:32 in this video)
What to do?!
You should have it in CC 2015. Are you clicking in the right area? Also, try the Layers > Smart Object > Convert to Smart Object.
I downloaded the files. When I pressed shift+command+v the flag was not pasted but I added a vector smart object. What gives?
Eric, when you copied, where you on the correct layer? I'm not sure why it would do that otherwise.
Ok, I know this is 5 years old, so you may not see this question but what happened to the flag in the final image?
my stack option is greyed out :(
my stack mode on PS CC14 grey out...
is there anyone know how to fix it
Are the files loaded?
