00:00 (Quinten Post is) looking very comfortable shooting the ball from deep. I see a guy, obviously, you're gonna have to find some minutes for. And what does that open up for everybody else?
00:08 STEVE KERR: Just opens up the floor. He picks and pops and that means the other team's big guy has to go with him. And that means that defender's not in the paint. So Steph was the happiest guy in the building tonight, with all that room to work with. The game got a lot easier for all of our guys. So it was really exciting, just watching Quinten and - but it goes beyond the shooting. It's the feel. You saw a pass he made to Lindy at the end for the three, like, he sees and feels the game and he's got some toughness to him too. He's a physical seven-footer. He's not a finesse seven-footer. He's a real seven-footer and likes to mix it up. And really exciting to see him, yeah, playing like that and getting his chance and making the most of it.
01:01 83 points from the second unit tonight, obviously Quinten a part of that, but Brandin, Gui, Moses, what did you like about the way that group moved the ball?
01:09 Yeah, they all played well. It was an incredible performance off the bench. Gui has just continued to shine in his opportunity here, in the way he's cutting and moving. The game really seems to click when he's out there and Moses has found a good groove. So those guys are really, as a kind of a tag team, wing tandem, they're playing great. I thought Dennis was fantastic tonight. And that's the guy who I've watched for years. He is a competitor. He plays with an edge. He got after it defensively tonight. He pushed the ball. I thought Dennis played a huge role in that win.
01:51 On Post, I'm curious how you've seen him evolve since you've had him in camp. I mean, I know even Draymond was talking about seeing a little of that toughness in camp. But what have you seen to the point that you are playing him now?
02:05 Well, first of all, he played five years of college basketball. So he's an old school rookie. Guys 25 years ago came into the league ready to play because they played all that college ball and have that foundation underneath them. And that's Quinten. So you can see, he's got a good feel for the game. I think the biggest thing over the last couple of months in Santa Cruz is the staff there just did a great job with him working defensively. I think that was our biggest concern at the beginning of the season was could he guard pick-and-roll, could he get out on the perimeter, be up to the level of the screen and still get back in the paint. You saw that tonight. He was flying around. So I think the Santa Cruz experience has been great for Quinten. He's made huge strides on the defensive end and you can see how much confidence he's playing with.
02:58 Back to Quinten, that pick-and-pop three at the end of the first half, you said Steph is the happiest person in the building. Was that pretty much like example of that, him screening for Steph and right away no hesitation from the arc?
03:09 Yeah, that's the value of a pick-and-pop big. The floor opens up. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense. And then you can do some different things from that. And Steph was, yeah, Steph was having a lot of fun out there with him.
03:27 And then with Brandin, obviously, it's been kind of an up-and-down second year for him. But it felt like this was kind of reminiscent of his impact last year, the All-Rookie Brandin that we saw. What do you think of him overall, the value that he brought?
03:38 Well, the connection that Brandin brings, similar to Gui, that's what's exciting, is that Quinten has that. Brandin has that. He has that. When the game starts to flow and the ball is really moving and the spacing is good, that's basketball and that's what we've prided ourselves on for years here. So it's really fun to see these young guys picking that up and playing well together.
04:13 I know you always want a base defensive structure and you kind of lean towards defense. You've mentioned it in some of the lineups, given the personnel now and given what's happening, the struggles offensively, do you sometimes have to lean a little more offense? I mean, you don't start GP2 in the second half that sort of thing.
04:30 Yeah. And that's why we're starting Buddy now. We really made the commitment the last two games to start Buddy instead of Dennis and that's what that was about, just trying to get a little better offensive flow. And you're right. I've always leaned on on the defense, but we need to lean offense now, given where we are as a team. And what I like, though, is we've got a really deep roster. We've got a lot of guys who can do a lot of different things and we can get defensive lineups out there as well. So I'm excited. I think we've been through a lot in this early part of the season and experimented a lot, but I know it's just one game, but I love this group and I think there's a lot in them and I think we're coming, but we gotta prove that.
05:22 I just wanted to follow that up. Steve, Steph had said the other day that this could be a make-or-break stretch for you guys of eight and nine games at home, trying to kind of tread water without Draymond and Kuminga. I know this is only really one game and one half probably of these guys showing you something, but do you feel like these guys can give you guys a jolt during this make-or-break session?
05:44 I mean, that's the idea, right? You saw last night we didn't finish the game, but we played pretty well for good stretches and we've had some good moments here the last couple of weeks, but we have to develop the consistency and the confidence that kind of is all tied together with that. So we'll enjoy this one tonight and then take tomorrow off. And we gott a big stretch of home games coming up.
06:15 For Quinten and Gui, they've played well in the past two, three, maybe four games. But for guys like of their experience, how long does it take for them to earn your trust?
06:28 Oh, they have my trust now. It's just a question of once we're healthy and JK and Draymond are back, are there minutes? So that's the question.
06:44 You talk about this, Schroder playing really well. That's the Schroder you've seen, kind of with the opportunity shots you're talking about, kind of create a spot and just kind of flow into it, or defensively, are you talking about?
06:55 For me, it's the defense and the competitive desire. That's Dennis. I mean, I've played against him so many times. He's a world champion from two summers ago with Germany. Coaching against him, I always just felt his defensive pressure and you saw the play where he picked up Zach full court and hounded him the whole possession. That's the impact that Dennis makes. And then when when in that groove and pushing the ball like he did tonight and playing with pace, he adds a really important element to our team.
    -
07:31 BILLY DONOVAN: I mean, just going in looking at their team and looking at numbers and things like that, they about about 44 percent of their total number of shots are threes, right? And they rebound about 27, a little more than 27 percent of their missed shots, okay? Which is basically, if you're going on 100 possessions, they're getting 27 offensive rebounds a game, on average. So the issue is, you have to be able to react. And what I mean by that is, when there's long shots, there's generally long rebounds and those rebounds generally are coming off at the elbows or outside the lane lines and you've gotta be able to react. I thought our reaction in the first half was pretty good. Now, we didn't get them all, but we were pretty good. And I think it led to some fast break opportunities and led to some easy things in the second half, like I said, I think, on both ends of the floor and I saw it early in the third quarter. I could just see a little bit we kind of hung around. They missed some shots. We got fouled a couple of times. But a lot of it is just a reaction to when the shot goes up, you've gotta be able to react and certainly turn, look. It's not so much always about blockouts because sometimes when the shot goes up and it's a long rebound, it's in an area where a lot of people can go get it and you've gotta be able to find a way to come down with it.
08:49 Billy, obviously when you play this team, teams are going to blitz, trap Curry. You did that a lot, especially in the second half. How do you feel that worked out? What did you see in doing that?
09:01 I mean, it was fine. I think that we probably - the communication on the backside needed to be a little bit better. There was a couple of times when the ball went into the middle of the floor. We had two guys come up to it and gave up a dunk. Like, that stuff's gotta be a communication thing. It's gotta be a little bit better. Again, the idea of trying to get the ball out of his hands, you're gonna be playing 3-on-4 on the backside and you really gotta have to scramble and do a good job. I thought we were okay. I thought we did a pretty good job in the first half. They're gonna - they do a good job on the offensive rebounds of throwing the ball back out and getting more threes. They're gonna keep moving and stay with that, to KC (Johnson)'s point. I thought they got great production and great help from their bench tonight. Yep. Thank you.

Kerr is just shitting. Draymond is not a center whereas POST if he can improve his defence, for which he needs minutes, is a solid option. JK is not a PF where Santos can make something happen at that position, plus he can shoot. Kerr should reduce the minutes of all the guards (Shrouder, Hield, GP2, Moody, Pods) he is putting on the floor and give it to players whop can play proper position.

I don't mind folks talking about how the Warriors are undersized, not playing in their right position, etc., but what I think is terrible is the growing talking point that the lack of size at certain positions or overall size is the reason this team under performs.
Size have been an issues in specific possessions, but the lack of talent and skill on the court has been the main issue. I think most Warrior fans don't pay attention to the rest of the league. When Hologram went down, OKC went a month without having a guy taller than 6'8 on the court. They had 6'4 Dort play PF at times. Why were they still winning? Clev and Bost play a lot of 3 guard lineups. Mitchell at 6'2 sometimes plays the 3. Garland at 6'1 sometimes plays the 2. White, Holliday both at 6'4 plays the 3 a lot...
Pay attention to what the other team is doing when they play the Warriors. Most don't play a PF or they sit their Center during the most important parts of the game. You may see 6'7 Wiggs at the 4 and think he's too small, without realizing the other guy playing that position is 6'6. There are numbers that allows us to see if we are too small to compete. It would show up in rebound %, contested shots, blocks, paint point %, and can bleed into other categories. So the Warriors are a top 5 offensive rebounding team. Top 8 overall rebounding team. There isn't a seasonal stat we can point to that even suggest the Warriors are small, let alone too small. What we can find is that the Warriors lack talent/skill, haven't shot the ball very well, can't make freethrows or layups, and commit too many needless fouls. That and a few other factors scream in the numbers, not so much size... Its just a narrative

@@AndYouAre I agree with this to a certain degree. But based on what I myself observed, the lack of size for us is asking for help defense in the paint and that is why the opponets go for a 3 point streak against us. Second thing, we are always only looking for 3pt shot and thus our shooters 90% of times have to take tough shots. (Look at Klay at Dallas, he is getting much easier shots and hence shooting better, whereas last season with us always touch contested shots, Lindy Waters, he is failing because of this IMO), that makes Kuminga and Wiggins at times need to go ISO and they cannot score against proper defense in the paint. Most games we have a proper lead, but these two reasons causes us in having a scoreing drought and the opponent going for a 3 pt mirage. Just my opinion.

"spacing the floor" is a result, not a gameplay. if you always play 4 short guards on the court, there will be little chance you will see such a result. short guards can even hardly pass balls with tall and tough defenders, nevertheless to say creating open shot opportunities.
