    I paid £850 for my Btwin Mach 720 CF in 2014. It was £999 rrp for a full carbon frame with 105. I’ve upgraded the wheels & other touchpoints so the bike is close to 7kg. Fantastic bike. Don’t know why bikes are so expensive.

    So many people try to "buy performance" when the reality is that their fitness level is not such that the bike is pushed hard enough to be in the envelope where the performance differences really make a difference. A simple example is frame rigidity, a way cheaper bike that does not offer the same level of rigidity would not incur an efficiency penalty if the rider was not putting in the power to cause an issue, in fact the bike with less rigidity may even be more comfortable for them to ride.
    If people were honest with themselves and purchased a bike that was adequate for their level of riding many of them would save a considerable amount of money without compromising their performance to any degree. !!!

      Well said! This is why I'm a fan of aluminum bikes w/carbon forks. For the money, you're getting a lot of value, and a really good bike. I recently bought an aluminum Topstone. Would I be significantly faster on one of the premium carbon gravel bikes in the $3500-$5500 range? Honestly-no. More training and dropping weight (fat) is what most of us need to do!

    • @happydays8171
      @happydays8171 Месяц назад

      Brutally honest. But, once you've gotten used to high end components, it's hard to go back to what would be adequate for my level of performance. For example, my sram red axs 12 speed came brand bew in the box for $2k, minus power meter. Waited a year before buying my Zipp 454 NSW's for $1,900 used. I go for rides and don't have to wonder how fast I'd be if I had these components, I know. Now if you'll excuse me, my SL-8 is begging me to ride it.

    I do not understand the false marketing surrounding the Van Rysel brand which consistently states they're more affordable than other top end bikes. Well, you could save yourself a grand and ride away on a Canyon Ultimate/Endurace/Aeroad CFR for around 8k. In fact, quite recently Canyon were offloading some CFR bikes from previous years for £6500. Also, according to google, a Colnago C68 with Dura Ace DI2 is £9500 (£6500 for Ultegra DI2)....which is 500 more than I paid for my brand new Ducati Monster 821 a few years ago. £9000 for what is no better than an Ali Express build is not good value.

      Truth. A bike can only be as cheap as it's parts and sure they have control over the frame price, but the rest is the same as everybody else. And if you pay more for a frame because you want a particular brand like Pinarello, that's your own wasted money decision. People that know facts know that frames can only be so good and beyond that it's just fashion.

    Sitting on the top tube of a carbon bike, bouncing on it a little bit every time he emphasizes a point with his hands. Crack, crack, crack.

      Don't be silly. If carbon was that delicate nobody would ever have made bicycle frames out of it.

    These bikes won't change anything in the industry except they will end in the trash quicker than their aluminum Triban bikes. These are cheaply made carbon frames. Most clients that come to our shop with these bikes is for a cracking bottom bracket. The bottom bracket interface is so loose I don't even need to use a bearing press to put them back in on most. They probably provided the French team with frames with higher QC standards.

    I am nominating Cycling Weekly for the shittiest video title of the year. Cycling changed in 1890s with the launch of the safety cycles. Decathlon aint changing shit, and stop calling a multi billion dollar company making bikes for years like some hipster chumps
