Yes, haven’t they heard of birth control? How can a low-income single person possibly support that many children? It’s tough for even affluent, two-working-parent families. The women I grew up with who became single mothers instead of going to college are desperately poor and will be all of their lives. I sacrificed everything else to get six years at university and worked every hour I could during it, and so did my father to help me, it was worth it. It’s not just about money, either, it’s about being able to have a career you really love, and the self-esteem that education gives. It’s extremely easy not to get pregnant, or one can just say NO, we don’t owe sex to any man, no matter what.

Any little impoverished corner of the Bay Area will turn to violence to seek recognition. It's no longer an American problem, just ignorant minorities desperately seeking gratification from a small portion of society obsessed with shock value.
A single mom with five kids? I think it's another form of child abuse. You don't bring them to this world without having the ability to take good care of them.
There are only 2 police that cover that area at a time and so many kids and family's live there and are too afraid of letting their kids out to play and bike ride because of this something needs to be done!

Stop fishing for likes. I go to this area all the time without incident. I live in Marin too and frequent the Target right down the street from this. Lots of low income housing is dangerous. Police, mobile crises, etc will not help. They say they can't do anything no matter how dangerous & crazy the situation is. They don’t push birth control anymore, they push abortion. For some reason low income minorities don’t seem to want to get abortions.

It's Marin City, where the men in the community been trying to out-crime Oakland since the 1980s. Pathetic area!

I know a wonderful mom who lives in this neighborhood and thats an awful thing to say especially when the cost of living anywhere is so high.
@@katherineburrell1196 I am glad you know living anywhere is high. Then don't produce that many babies.

i can tell you grew up super privileged "child abuse". 1/4 kids in America live without there dad that's not "child abuse" thats just reality.
Anyone shocked?
I am. Because it's happening in Marin County, which is rare.
So sad. :( Rip to the victim.
I used to go to that neighborhood pretty regularly to repair copy machines. I'm glad there was never any shooting while I was there.
That's why I don't live in low income housing too dangerous; been there did that. Won't be held prisoner in my own home; safer in jail.
