Imagine being roped in to a chain of 6 people in full winter gear and breathing apparatus, slowly and safely trudging up the cold sides of mount everest feeling a great sense of self acomplishment for the hardships you have faced so far.... Then this guy runs past you in short shorts waves hello and zooms up the mountain :)

He needed to do it "again" because he didn't do it the first time. He felt guilty. He knew that the job was not done. Then even the second time he can't show any convincing proof. Very bad style. Jornet is an extraordinary athlete, a legend, but he is lousy at documenting his achievement in the case of mont everest. Really disappointing. Ruins a lot.

Climbing Everest without oxygen twice in the same week has been done once before, in 2007 by Pemba Dorje Sherpa, whose ascents were seven days apart.

Kilian was largely my inspiration to travel to chamonix mont blanc several years ago and sprint up some of the mountains in the valley. At this point in my life, I had been running about 10km a day in Montreal. Unlike Kilian, however, my lungs were not as adapted to the mountains as my legs were. By the time I would reach 3000 m, I would experience vertigo and oxygen deprivation, the was a scuba diver would if they ascend from low depths too quickly. What I consider to be personal feats that I may never surpass would be to him nothing more than a morning routine.

Also him later on "So after I climbed Everest like a superhero, I had to wait at base camp for a week.....And just sit there....And talk.....about nothing......With a bunch of ppl.....Soooo after 2 min I was like 'Ok bro, this is enough, I'm going back to the summit, see u guys later on!"
Thanks Kilian finally someone who understands me!!!😁

But we can't really find our physical limits though, because the argument can be made that you can always go faster and harder, if you just train hard enough. The same can be said for our mental limits. If there's a limit you have to train to overcome it.

On the 27th of November, Killian will attempt to break the world record for the 24 hour ultra marathon, he needs to run more than 303.5 kilometers in 24 hours to break the record.

I'd not say that. Killian won the Hardrock 100. I've seen tourists' lips turn blue just in Colorado at 13,000ft. This guy has some weird adaptations going on, he's a beast.

This guy grow up playing in the mountain & snow. He is as good as the sherpa if not better and for sure better skills in the mountain then those sherpa. I'm not surprised he can do that, as soon as he get familiar with the surrounding mountain and gain his confidence.

No man no one can beat the Sherpas in alpinism. Just lookup on the internet and you will know for sure. The Sherpas are not portrayed much in the western world. All the insane records in mountaineering are mostly by the Sherpas.

@@1414Adety Yeah he is a beast. I have also seen his performance on youtube. I am a trekking guide in Nepal and most of my European friends tell me about this guy. But if the Sherpas are trained professionally like him they can exceed more than anyone on the planet. Even without professional training, the Sherpas are on a pro-level. For example, Babu Chiri Sherpa stayed on the Everest summit for 21 hours without supplementary oxygen and he doesn't train like Kilian.

@@Martss_. Yeah I have seen his videos and he is awesome. But in Nepal, we live in places higher than the Pyrenees above 5000m. We play football above 4000m. As a teenager myself, I used to take my sheeps carrying heavyweight to places above 4000m and stay there for 3 months then descend down in winter. I used to carry 100 pounds for 3/4 months and cross numerous passes above 5000m when I was a porter in the 1990s without proper clothes. My point is that the Himalayan people are more habitual to high altitudes. With proper training and facilities like the Western people, we can do much better.
