He needed to do it "again" because he didn't do it the first time. He felt guilty. He knew that the job was not done. Then even the second time he can't show any convincing proof. Very bad style. Jornet is an extraordinary athlete, a legend, but he is lousy at documenting his achievement in the case of mont everest. Really disappointing. Ruins a lot.

The sherpas have genes of superathletes, they climb slow just because they are helping unskillful people to climb, they can reach the pace of this man, there are documentaries of the sherpas abilities in RUclips.

In fact, theres only 1 sherpa who has achieved similar feat in the past. Climbing Everest without oxygen twice in the same week has been done once before, in 2007 by Pemba Dorje Sherpa, whose ascents were seven days apart.

Kilian was largely my inspiration to travel to chamonix mont blanc several years ago and sprint up some of the mountains in the valley. At this point in my life, I had been running about 10km a day in Montreal. Unlike Kilian, however, my lungs were not as adapted to the mountains as my legs were. By the time I would reach 3000 m, I would experience vertigo and oxygen deprivation, the was a scuba diver would if they ascend from low depths too quickly. What I consider to be personal feats that I may never surpass would be to him nothing more than a morning routine.
Since it's been quite a long time I hope you kept at it, just a different perspective to offer: you're not racing Kilian, you're racing yourself :D Keep that in mind!
@@amblincork There is a documentary about this, there is footage. Kilian is widely known as the best ultra runner/trail runner in the world and has been for more than a decade. He has won all of the biggest ultra races several times and has set fastest records on many that still stand today. He's also a mountaineer and grew up in the mountains, so this challenge was perfect for him.

This guy is an example of what humans are capable of doing when the right conditions are checked. We humans, as a species are capable of doing things we thought are impossible if we really put our all into it.

I managed to smoke 192,000 joints before giving up. As each spliff was on average 4" in length it would take 87105 Js end upon end to reach the height of Mt Everest. TLDR; I easily smoked twice the height of Mount Everest. Now that's commitment.

I'd not say that. Killian won the Hardrock 100. I've seen tourists' lips turn blue just in Colorado at 13,000ft. This guy has some weird adaptations going on, he's a beast.
This guy grow up playing in the mountain & snow. He is as good as the sherpa if not better and for sure better skills in the mountain then those sherpa. I'm not surprised he can do that, as soon as he get familiar with the surrounding mountain and gain his confidence.
No man no one can beat the Sherpas in alpinism. Just lookup on the internet and you will know for sure. The Sherpas are not portrayed much in the western world. All the insane records in mountaineering are mostly by the Sherpas.

But if the Sherpas are trained professionally like him they can exceed more than anyone on the planet. Even without professional training, the Sherpas are on a pro-level. For example, Babu Chiri Sherpa stayed on the Everest summit for 21 hours without supplementary oxygen and he doesn't train like Kilian.
@@Martss_. Yeah I have seen his videos and he is awesome. But in Nepal, we live in places higher than the Pyrenees above 5000m. We play football above 4000m. As a teenager myself, I used to take my sheeps carrying heavyweight to places above 4000m and stay there for 3 months then descend down in winter. I used to carry 100 pounds for 3/4 months and cross numerous passes above 5000m when I was a porter in the 1990s without proper clothes. My point is that the Himalayan people are more habitual to high altitudes. With proper training and facilities like the Western people, we can do much better.

I personally find running in the heat the worst. I have run half marathons in higher temperatures and found them harder than a 35 mile ultra I did. The pace and heat dehydrate you quicker. You would need to ask some of the top guys who have done the course and others
