I’m five minutes into your video and I want to make it clear: never once have I thought “pick a better man” or “why didn’t you just leave?” It makes me sick that there are people who blame the survivors and excuse the perpetrators. I’m here, I hear you, I’m sending you all the love. If anyone disagrees with me, respectfully shut up.

agreed. I had to pause the video and was going to say the same thing. You can't blame yourself for bad people in the world. It sucks that they are there, but that reality. It's not the fault of the victim for them to find themselves in the situation. Alot of the time , we love bombed and think things will be different or the person is different. unfortunately, people like these never change and, in turn, change us into a shell of a person.

Just found your channel. Whew! DV survivor here. I made it through the process, had kids, too, with the help of friends and family. In my area, there are DV support groups now. There weren't any back when I went through it. My advice...empower yourself...take a self defense class, have ways to protect yourself, have a "safe room", have an extra phone, and make alternate plans like a safe house to go to if you need it. My neighbors were great and watched out for me for years.

Please continue to be careful. Too many of us have learned the hard way that a protective order is just a piece of paper. I would highly suggest an alarm system and cameras because the multiple times that my protection order was violated, my ex could not be arrested because it was my word against his. Not being able to prove the violations made him more arrogant & culminated in him being able to burn down my home in the middle of the night knowing my child was asleep inside (she is an amazing, strong, loving 31 yo woman now). Domestic violence laws are in the dark ages still and heavily favor the abusers rights. My heart breaks just thinking of all the men and women who were not lucky enough to walk away.

They start nice and kind and likeable and wait till everyone in your life thinks they are great so when they abuse you they can convince everyone your the problem. Then they have the power of everyone else turning against you too. Its evil.
My ex convinced the cops he was a good guy by talking nice and calm. Just could change personality in the snap of a finger to keep up face. So scary. I use to have to post on fb and tell people if I disappear he did it. Dont let him have my baby. 😢

List the house with a realtor and explain the situation, I think there are handyman groups that can help and get things fixed for the sale. You need to get out of there and tell no one where you are. Keep moving. Take this very seriously. Your safety is all that matters. Go to a woman’s shelter, whatever it takes. I don’t feel like you are safe where you are. People have got to start understanding children don’t cut off parents easily. The “you only have 1 mother” comments are ridiculous. Mothers do better. You don’t have to be perfect but you do need to be loving to your damn kids.
As for “picking better men” that’s not on you either. When you’ve been in survival mode your whole life (I understand because I have been myself) we don’t see people the way undamaged people do. I’ve only realized this myself. We don’t realize what “normal” is. No amount of therapy can help that. It’s ingrained in us. I was an abused child. I became used to people I love hurting me mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I’m so proud of you for getting out and recognizing what your next steps need to be so you can get to a happy and healthy place. It isn’t easy to break the cycle, and well-adjusted people don’t go around telling victims to make better choices. You can do this, Mal. You survived, you’re here, and you can do this. 💜

Hey, im not a member, but i can see that you posted that you were making this video members only -- but i can still see it. Just letting you know, since you obviously wanted to keep this a little more intimate with your membership. Im a survivor also, and i didnt have a support system either (moms a diagnosed narcissist), so your message resonates so hard for me. 🫂 setting boundaries with her changed my life. I hope so much that you're doing a little more okay today than you were last week... sometimes thats all we can aim for.

Also, be kind to yourself. Being raised by a narcissist sets us up to be exponentially easier for others to latch onto and victimize. It is SO. HARD. to break through that brainwashing, but you can do it. I believe in you.

Oh Mallory… I am SO so sorry to hear you went through this 😞 I’ve been there and it’s beyond angering to hear people say “why didn’t you just leave???” Abusers are SMART and know how to manipulate and emotionally abuse first so you feel it’s you and not them. It’s not easy to just leave also when your life is in danger
Please stay hidden from him in any way possible and heal ❤ Sending you the biggest hugs and all the love. Xoxoxoxo

It’s a yak snack. Once it gets really chewed down, throw it in the microwave for about 10 sec or so and it turns into a “cheese puff”. Two snacks in one. I can absolutely relate to your trauma. When you have no idea what a healthy relationship is, and you have no personal agency because of how you were raised, “choosing” the right one is near impossible. Be well Sister.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I went through something very similar 20 years ago, but in my case my abuser committed suicide. The aftermath of my situation was an extremely difficult time. Even the ability to concentrate seemed like too much at the start - precisely because of the things you mentioned, about being expected to navigate the mess you're left with, not feeling certain about almost everything, and really needing help. A tremendous burden could be lifted if there was someone or something that could help in guiding victims of interpersonal violence in taking the necessary steps to recover their life (and sanity). So, I love your idea of creating a social service with that framework in mind! I believe a LOT of people would benefit from that.
Wishing you peace and well-deserved moments of joy in your future. 💕

Go into hiding - do not disclose where you are living - take a self defense course - get protection for yourself and have an instructor teach you how to use/handle.

Yes! 💯 This is very serious and terrifying and I agree with everything you said. I am very scared for her.
I really want to set up a network of women to come together to provide protection for women going through abuse. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it. And it might even exist, I just don't know if any besides at a women's shelter maybe? I just know how terrifying it is to be alone in a situation like this. No one should have to do this alone.

Yes, Women's Shelters do offer Shelter in this situation BUT we (the Women) can still be found by the Assailant. An "underground" system is the best - established by Women for Women and their Children in a Fleeing Situation.

And also there are many situations where a shelter can't really help. What are you going to do if you have more than one pet? I just think there are so many women all over the world who have either gone through it or are currently going through it that need help but also can help at different stages. And women who have gone through it know and understand the difficulties of life after abuse. Women helping women is the way to go. I have ADHD so my thoughts are all coming out at once and I'm rambling lol. But I appreciate you and your comment ❤️😊

I am so sorry this happened to you.
I love that you are thinking of turning this into an “advocacy project” to help others in your position. As someone in a “security related” job, I think including some sort of home surveillance recommendations would be helpful too. Having a person come to your home and tell you where cameras and lightning could be added to capture things on camera.
