I knew someone who played Pac-Man once.
True story.
Relatable
I kinda am one of those people.
Stop lying
I do too
@@char7403 ikr, liars, you know no one who played Pac-Man, a game available in almost every form factor, and that no body needs to play once in their sad lifes
Here's the review I was looking forward to! Love your reviews on this stuff.
"nice and clicky" is not how the original joystick feels as the original has leaf switches, not micro switches. All in all though seems to be a nice little piece!
Sweet!!! Great review Shane
#Respect You've done a great job at reviewing the quarter-scaled Pac-Man, Rerez. Keep up the great work!
Love your videos Rerez!
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Really good video thanks for showing us, love to have one for my collection :)
hi im your fan
For not including dip switches (soft or physical), they miss the mark. Don't mean to be harsh, but if your goal is to duplicate the original arcade machine in a smaller form factor, then all the functions of the full-size machine should be present. Especially considering the obviously painstaking effort made in duplicating the machine's appearance in such exacting detail.
Do love the 1/4 size though. Would look great next to my Vectrex!
Rerez,
I've been loving mine, but after having it for awhile, it has been slowing down more and more. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen. Now I have experienced the way you've described the slowdown, but I've also had four occasions where my slowdown experience was way more pronounced. These pronounced slowdown times continued well into the game the more I played it, and getting up to the first cut scene, it would slow waaaaaay down. We're talking almost 2 to 3 frames per second with the sound slowing down too.
The first time this happened, I rebooted it several times, but the gameplay remained painfully slow. I was going to reach out to the company, but after letting it sit for an hour, it started working again. I still get a slight slowdown at the beginning of the game like you described, but on occasion, I get this long slowdown. It seems letting the unit sit for around an hour clears it up for me every time. I have tried coming back in 15 to 30 minutes to see if a shorter time would stop the slowdown, but no go. It seems like an hour is the magic number.
Still, I love this Pac-Man machine! I heard from Numskull and they said their next release is going to be Ms. Pac-Man. I hope they iron out the bug present in the Pac-Man machine before releasing it (upgrading the internal components, tweaking the rom, etc.). I'd really like to own more of their machines like this. If they can get this fixed, I think they'll have a real hit on their hands!
vgv
Sounds like somethings heating up too much (battery, bad capacitor, cpu?) and the machine is throttling to protect itself. Leaving it off for a while cools the faulty component down again. Just a guess.
The detail thou is so great amazing
It's cool to see that you're still making videos dude (I think your name was Shane?) You've come a long way since those times in shitty chat.
Probably one of the coolest things I've seen, I really want it now.
Really detailed functional replica,I like it
I would love to have one.
now the million dollar question
does it have the 256 glitch???
Since it's an emulator of the arcade version I'd assume so, I mean you still have to insert coins to use it
Yes
That looks cool af
But will they ever make a quarter scale recreation of Polybius?😂
Joke aside, cool video.
You have predicted the future
They are just working on it
And somehow it’s a kickstarter project
But I don’t think you can play it and I think it’s some charging thing
And it comes I think February 2021
@@pixelplayer140 it came out a few weeks ago. It's only a charging station but it's still a thing :D
@@renefigueroa6309 yea I knew it
It would be nice for some people to have it as a souvenir or something but for me ill pass but it does look cool though
Cool little toy. But for $200 I dont see the value. That tiny clicky stick seems like it'd be unplayable. This looks like something you'd stumble upon in Walmart for 20-50 if it wasn't for the build quality and attention to detail. Maybe some shelf collectors would really love this. I'm a huge retro collector with several hundred games but I cant justify this. I think the review should have mentioned the price. Huge black eye on a product that I was interested in until finding out it costs so much.
I think the same way. Sure the details and build quality is amazing but if they made the whole thing out of plastic I would see that selling at Walmart for 50$ too. Maybe more because of the size but cetainly not 200$. It's getting close to the price of the 1Up arcade and those are 3/4 scale with real arcade sticks and buttons.
I like this but I feel the same way regarding price (although it's leaps and bounds above what you'd find at Walmart for 20-50 dollars). Personally I collect both arcade machines as well as consoles from the 70's to early 2000's... amongst the thousands of games that I have I do own an original full size Pac-Man cabinet. I do have other "mini" versions of this machine and I would be interested to have 1/4 scale replicas of this detail for all of my machines but again I think the price is just a bit high still. Who knows? Maybe I'll break down and buy this at some point anyway lol.
Wow man I wish I had that!
Also that's a really nice shirt you have. Where did you get it?
Might be cool to start seeing table-top products like this at bars and restaurants
If this was $100 and Ms. Pac-Man I'd have bought one for my mom. It's was her favorite game. The joystick needs to be a little larger though.
It's a scaled down replica, which is why it's so small. They are making Ms Pac-Man later this year, though.
I have to agree $100 to $130 is the max I would pay for one of these when the Pacman Plug N' Play consoles go for about $20 - $25.
Terrance S ikr
Shame the price is so high. $200 for just a mini arcade that plays one game is too much. Even as a collectible its too much, if they knock it down to $100 or under im in. For $300 and sometimes $200 you can get a 4ft arcade from Arcade1UP.
that arcade stick makes the switch joycons analog sticks look massive!
Now we have to make a 1/2 scale model too.
Take a sip every time he says “Pac-Man “
Having a scaled model version of the original pac-man cab is perfect for retro arcade fans with limited space. This is definitely something I’ll be buying.
I must get this, still attempting to beat the high score
I would like to see Adam in next "Worst Ever"
C:
I really love to have this Pac-Man Arcade Machine for my collection.
Seeing this video wanted it even more HAhahahaha.....
I actually just purchased a mini Pac Man arcade machine last month that is the size of a key chain trinket. It's fully functional too! Only costed $25.
Link?
I didn't grow up playing Pac-Man, but I did grow up playing Ms. Pac-Man
Nice video
What is the music on 4:40 and after that? I clearly remember it, but not the name.
I know this is off topic, but where can I find that T-shirt?
wonder if you can open it up and solder in a switch to get all the games.
If you're looking for something to review in another video, try retro-systems.co.uk they boast a lot about their products and I would love to know if it was the real deal. Just an idea and I love your vids!
Cool
Have you seen the giant Pac-Man arcade machines they’re selling at Walmart’s now?
Wasnt this the arcade machine things you were just talking about on Hot Take.
Does this machine feature high score backup?
Just buy the Arcade1up Pacman for $200.
tbh
Absolutely worth it for the 1 up, and I hear you can find it on clearance in some Wal-Mart's because of over stock
I have that one, too, and it's great for what it is ($299.99 price point, though). Numskull's machine, however, is meant to preserve classic arcade art as seen in those old, vintage arcade cabinets. In that sense, Numskull is serving a higher purpose.
Can you review donkey Kong made by Coleco, I have it and it is solid
Please tell me this is on Amazon and it's somewhere between 30 and 50 dollars
Hey Shane! Love your vids. Been watching since the worst ever series began. Keep up the great work!
ok now they need to re release full sized arcade games and put them in arcades and with the help of stranger things and 80s revival tv shows and movies to make it popular again with new levels and new games made by companies exclusively for arcades to recreate and make another golden age
I kinda wish this thing had DIP switches
I want one
If only I could use V. R. and link it to a mini robot to play this like a 1 to 1 scale.
Imagine being shrunk down to this was life sized, it would be awesome!
There is a game for Vive called New Retro Arcade Neon. You basically have a full arcade that you can put roms in different machines and use PNG images to change the sides and front. It look super realistic. I loaded my game with all the oldies like Pacman, Donkey Kong, Galaga but also put "newer" stuff like Streetfighter 2, Mortal Kombat, Alien VS Predator and Turtles in time. The downside is that the Vive controllers don't have joysticks or regular ABXY buttons so actually playing using the weird giant touch circle is not ideal.
I wish they would make a Vs. Super Mario Bros machine
At that size, they could have put a mini CRT in there for a really authentic experience...
great
Thank you Shane! 🕹
Yo I want one sooooo bad
Pac Man is pretty ok
ill pass on playing on a machine this small but if this was reasonably priced I would love it as a collectible.
Pac man is best game
Pacman and tetris for me never get old.
@@NerdDrops Tetris should have been included on the NES Classic Edition mini console. I am still baffled as to why Tetris wasn't included on that system.
@@koryandrews1665 i agree
"quarter size" get it? 😂
Yes lol
I heard the review units had the original arcade ROM but the actual release was the NES/later console ports. Has anyone been able to confirm which version is actually shipping?
Probably late, but I've seen store displays with the arcade version
@@SlinkyX115 Thanks! yea actually looks like the units did ship with the arcade ROM and still do! The only difference is the 5 lives vs the 3 lives and 15k for first life instead of 10k. I picked one up and LOVE IT.
Sad. I wanted a mini CRT!
Is the real game only 4x larger than that?
From other reviews I've seen, this version has sound issues
$100 more you can get the 1up version and it has more than just one game, just my 2 cents
I have both, and although the Arcade1UP machine is a little more playable due to its larger size, Numskull's cab works better as a true display, iconic art piece (that still plays surprisingly well). But like I said, I have both!
@@pacario9625 I have both as well. The Arcade1Up is more of a practical way to play the game, and is more for people who just want a Pac-Man machine. The Numskull cabinet is more of a collectors display piece, that is also playable, not as a flat out Pac-Man Machine.
The Arcade1Up machines use awful materials and controls. I wish this was as big as a 1Up.
@@michaeljordan6008 I hear yah, but something like that would definitely cost more than $300.00.
I love the attention to detail but I wish it was Ms.Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man is coming later this year. Can't wait, myself!
@@pacario9625 Galaga is coming in April, which is soon! I'm hoping to have enough cash together to be able to snag one, this is a really cool lineup, and I can't wait to see what comes next from them.
It looks great, especially with the marquis lighting, but it's just not worth $200. I'm a sucker for limited edition gaming items, but I don't know if I'd even pay $100.
Arcade1Up has left the chat
I have the smaller Pacman my arcade
Make vids more often
U are the best ;)
please make Frogger I love Frogger the arcade
Pacman - the game played by the very first version of MAME!
It is Tiny, you're just very small. How else would you fit inside the computer screen?
also, the defaults are wrong.
you don't start with 5 men, and extra at 15k.
it's supposed to be 3 men, and extra at 10k.

It's $200.. it doesn't have an audience.
Its audience are those looking for the ultimate Pac-Man collectible, and those enamored by iconic, pop arcade cabinet art. If you're in one of these two camps, Numskull is your only refuge.
$200 is still too much for a miniature arcade cabinet. Just buy the even smaller My Arcade Pac-Man cabinet for like $25-$30.
@@pacario9625 Even a year ago when this comment was posted there were far better and more affordable options for both camps, though. $200 for something of this scale is really high. $100 would be justifiable by collectors for the build quality, though those looking at it for the cabinet art as a display piece would likely not spend more than $75 for it.
@@Dargonhuman There are no 1/4 scale replicas on the market, then or now. And the machines now go for around $150.00.
@@pacario9625 "There are no 1/4 scale replicas on the market, then or now."
Right, they're called "quarter sized replicas", which is the same thing. A quarter size/1/4 scale is too small for an authentic arcade experience and still too large for table or desk top playing, and even at $150 is still too expensive for what they're selling. 3/4 scale uprights go for about the same price and are better for capturing the authentic arcade feel and there are a slew of table top sized machines that mostly run for less than $100 and offer the same experience as these quarter sized cabinets.
So, again, there's not a market for overpriced, undersized replicas when there are better options that cater to both camps.
Someone got this for their bjd at some point
Where are the quarter sized quarters?
I thought by quarter size they meant the size of a coin
there we go thats more like it. but kinda close to the original.
Open it!
Video number 7000 about this thing
RUclips glitches. It said it’s 2440:40:10 long
I don't know maple man, the plug and okay seemed more enjoyable and also had Galaga, it was like 50 toys in one.
Love u rerez
Congrats you are truly first
Woahhh. Nice job my man!
That's gay
No homo
I'll wait for it to get cheaper
The cabinets are limited to 10,000 cabinets world-wide and they've already sold almost all of them. Chances are, in a year or so you'll only be able to find them on ebay for 300+, unfortunately. I do hope you get one though, it is a really cool little collectible.
Gonna pac the men
"Just like the original release"
Allcontroller news?
a nice effort, but overpriced. and the distortion from screen scaling is disappointing.
There is also a World’sSmallest version.
hi
Okay
It might be 200 bucks but its better than the ps1 mini for sure
I have a keychain that plays Pac Man
Donkey Kong plz :'(
Souljagame
that drop shadow is so bad and unnecessary, what were they thinking?
I'm not too sure on this, but I think these machines run on 50 Hz and not 60 Hz.
So they might be coming in from Europe or China or something? I guess I never considered the possibility, but if they do come from a country that uses a 50Hz mains supply, and this unit is directly mirroring what those did, maybe it is the European arcade version. I just haven't really thought of 50/60 Hz in arcade games, only console games, so it's kind of fuzzy to think about.
It runs at 60hz. European Pacmans used NTSC CRTs anyway, so they were all 60hz.
I have smaller ways to play the pacster
