This is a guide on replacing a screen on a Asus ROG GA401Q
For the replacement process we will need the following tools.
Tweezers
Plastic Pick
To begin turn the laptop off and disconnect the power cord.
Now we can remove the bezel. Start from the left side and go around the
perimeter unsnapping the tabs underneath. Put the bezel aside.
The screen is held in place with two strips of adhesive on the right
and left sides. The strips can be removed by pulling the tabs from
underneath the screen. Using the tweezers pick up the right tab and
pull out adhesive strip from underneath the right side of the screen.
Pick up the left tab and pull out the adhesive strip from the left side.
Place the screen on the keyboard. Using plastic pick and fingers start
peeling off the clear tape from the video connector. Disconnect the video
cable.
Take the new LCD screen and place it on the keyboard. Using both hands
reconnect the video cable. Secure it with a clear tape.
CAUTION! It is very important not to force any of the connectors.
As well you must not twist or slant the connector when plugging it in.
Now we can test the new screen. Lift the screen up and lean the screen
on the back cover. Turn the laptop on and if the start up graphics appear
we can finish the replacement process.
Your new display is likely to come with no adhesive. We offer standard
double-sided tape for such repairs on our site: laptopscreen.com
Use alcohol and a piece of cloth to clean the back side of the LCD and
the inner side of the back cover. Apply adhesive strips on the back of the
new LCD. Lift the screen up and apply some pressure to the display along
its edges to catch the adhesive.
Remove the protective film. Replace the bezel. Start from the bottom corners
and then go around the perimeter snapping the tabs back in place.
Close the laptop and make sure that all the tabs are snapped along the hinge cover.
Turn the laptop on. And we are done!
When the adhesive was reinstalled, it was upside down from the OEM position. Was there a benefit to this or just a mistake?
It's a favor to the next tech who might be working on the computer as it is much easier to pull adhesive from the top. Some laptops point it to the top and some to the bottom, and after working on them, pointing it to the top is a much nicer way to mount an LCD for the next guy who may be dismounting it.
does this work for ga402 (2022) model?
My WiFi stopped working after doing this is their a fix to that and what did I do wrong?
Could have possibly nicked the coax cables that run behind the bezel to WiFi antennas at the top of the display assembly. Could potentially repair the coax cable, or would need to get new one.
Mine has a few scratches from when I accidently dropped my portable monitor on my laptop. There's 2 deep scratches, but I've hardly noticed them.
The screen I found won't come with adhesive for the back. Where would I buy this adhesive from?
Is that new or repaired
Yes
