The big struggle in our house is that my husband and I are ignoring the attention seeking behavior of our middle child, but our oldest child continues to react. We have tried coaching her, but she gets pretty wound up by the behaviors. How can we help her to remain neutral during the attention seeking behaviors of her younger sibling? Thank you!

It is difficult, I think the best thing you can do is have her in a separate room whenever possible in order to not feed into the behaviors.

    Now next LEVEL!!!
Getting past it with the proper parenting
Doing a parenting NAMI class this fall…

If your child does not have a serious mental illness such as bi-polar illness, schizoaffective disorder, etc. I would not suggest a NAMI class. ADHD isn't a mental illness, it's a neurodevelopmental disorder. Parent Training is the evidence-based recommended treatment for kids with ADHD: ruclips.net/video/7ZBwKj_CJRM/видео.htmlsi=CXDzuusqR1C_b7Qg

My son is all about the reactions rn… “I’m dumb… just call me dumb,.. just hurt me… scratch me !! “ when asked to do something . I used to go “ don’t say that ! Stop it” now we ignore. Last night it was over taking a bath.
I told him” you can either get in the bath right now or go in your room and go to bed by yourself with no story and no tv tomorrow “ he complained a while but he did lay down and fall asleep without me. Is that ok to use the “no tv tomorrow”?

My son is almost 6. We are in process of reducing screen time. During school year he is only allowed weekends but summer got out of hand.

My 16yo likes to belittle anything my husband and I like or do. For instance - we like to keep our yard tidy. Anytime i get out the leaf blower to clean off the driveway he will say somthing like "Why are you always doing that? It looks better with all the grass on it. What a waste of time."

I deal with similar behavior and it's hurtful and at times I honestly don't know what to do or how to handle it?
