      That sucks. Did they prescribe anything stronger than Tylenol? I’m feeling ok the day after getting all three but have some bleeding in one nostril. Also, did they use the balloon/scope process or the older one that involved some cutting?

      Things are the same surgery didn’t help. I still have headaches or sinus pain, but my ent referred me to a neurologist because she thinks My sinus pain might be related to migraines.I haven’t had no progress, recently I had a MRI with them and according to my neurologist i still have sinus problem😪. Now I’m going back with my ENT and with COVID things take a while.

    I know this surgery has helped a lot of people. But they should know the risks and the doctors are not telling people about Empty Nose Syndrome. I had this surgery and it caused severe breathing problems. It is an absolute living Hell. I cannot feel air because my mucosa dried up. It feels like I am suffocating. My sleep is horrible and I am so tired during the day. I just want to go to sleep and never wake up. Know the risks before you do anything to you nose.

    • @JamesMcAllister

      Mike Smallwood Hey Mike, thanks for talking about this. I do remember seeing someone talk about this on RUclips when I started considering this surgery, it may have even been you if you’ve commented on other videos like this one!
      I know there’s not really a whole lot of information about ENS online but I did this bring this up with my ENT before confirming the surgery and he said that he’s never experienced this issue with any patients before. Because I voiced my concern he did reduce my turbinates more conservatively than he otherwise would have. In my case I was absolutely fine, but I agree that it’s important to be aware about Empty Nose Syndrome (and only get the minimum amount of work done that’s necessary!)

    • @mikes.4863
      @mikes.4863 4 года назад

      @@JamesMcAllister I think any work on the turbinates is a bad idea. Not just because it went badly for me---but the surgery itself is very fishy. I only had a ten percent reduction and I ended up with ENS. Ten percent--that's the smallest they will do. I asked an ENT why they do the turbinates---he said the turbinates get irritated because the septum is rubbing up against them. I said So if you fix the septum, then the turbinates should go back to normal, right? He looked like a deer in the headlights. They are not expecting that question. With the septum no longer irritating them,. the turbs should go back to normal. But they don't tell you that---unless you ask.

      What are you most afraid of? Maybe I can explain something better. I was a little fearful also beforehand, but that's because I didn't have much experience with surgery beforehand. @JamesMcAllister  4 года назад +1

      @@stunt_double You don't need to worry about this, trust me. For this procedure they give you anesthesia so you are completely asleep during the procedure. An anesthesiologist will be monitoring you the entire time to make sure you don't wake up or feel anything. During the surgery you will not even dream, you are completely asleep and will not be able to see, hear, or feel anything at all.

    • @JamesMcAllister
      @JamesMcAllister  4 года назад +1

      @@stunt_double Absolutely, most people are able to walk just fine in 20 minutes or so after the surgery. The first day you might want to lay down, you might feel exhausted, but there isn't that much pain. It's mostly just feeling really tired. After the first day you should be able to walk anywhere just fine. Sleep wise, there may be some trouble, the surgeon may advise you to sleep sitting in a chair or as vertical as possible. It can be a little uncomfortable - not because of pain, just because it's hard to fall asleep like that.

    Turbinate reduction by any method can cause empty nose syndrome and its an awfull condition to suffer 24/7.it changes your life for the worsed .ents know about ens but most dont mention ens as a risk on these utube videos or tell you when you meet them in person.even if its a conservative turbinate reduction.i made the biggest mistake of my life having my inferior turbinates reduced with the bipolar diathermy and smd debrider.i have suffered with ens for 10 years now never had 1 good day without suffering .mines where reduced about 30 % last ent i saw told me this and looks about 30%on my ct scan aswell.

      @@falloutman1843 Oh I see, from what I understand if there's something physical that's making it hard to prevent or fight off sinus infections (like a deviated septum or small drainage hole) surgery could be a good choice, since the problems will likely continue. That's what I've been told, anyway. I never had a lot of sinus infections myself, in my case it was one full sinus that got worse over the course of a year and a half. My ENT said that the changes made during surgery should prevent issues like that from coming back again, so here's hoping!
