The only thing I am happy about the PS5 pro.... Is that scalpers who thought they could make a quick buck with the console are stuck with it because there's too much stock on the shelves and not enough demands.
@martineles7369 I can walk into any store local to me in the UK (Argos, Currys, Smyths Toys etc) and pick up the PS5 Pro without any issue. The stand is also available but the disc drive is out of stock in most places.
Like Maximilian Dood said, if you just have a regular PS5, buying an OLED TV (if you don't have one yet) would make a much bigger difference in your gaming experience instead of getting the Pro with a crappy tv
Monitors and TV's in general are really sometimes underrated upgrades. I almost feel like enabling HDR 10+ on my OLED monitor made a bigger difference in quality than going from low to epic setting presets in Halo Infinite on my computer 😂 and HDR 10+ has no additional performance cost it's wild. A good display does so much
it would then be 799 if it had a forced priced point... the price difference is justified with the 2tb ssd and the power difference, and better ram type, wifi etc. just a few hundred more.. definitely a fair price difference.. you could argue they could have just kept with the 1tb ssd to keep costs down... but nobody can argue that the price difference for whagt you get is not fair.
If PS4 Pro came with a 1TB SSD back in the day it would also be considered pricey. It came with a 1TB 5400RPM HDD though instead. Cutting down the price but giving us the same slow load times, hitches and texture streaming issues.
I totally agree with you. This generation has been a joke, ps5, being held back by the ps4 as it has the higher install base, and most of the games we are all playing on ps5 are ps4 games and well xbox is totally held back by the series s your right this is what the console should have been at release ive jumped to pc now wish I had done it sooner
While I agree with you that this is an expensive and mostly unnecessary upgrade, I feel like saying this is the machine we should have had in 2020 isn't quite right. Back in 2020 Zen 2 was still a very strong architecture and getting Zen 3 into the box would either have been too expensive or just impossible due to the time it takes to design and make a console. Then there's the fact that RDNA 2 wasn't even around when the PS5 launched, and is the best GPU line that AMD has made for years, with the only weakspot being the RT performance. Add on what was at the time a blazing fast SSD and a hardware decompression block, the PS5 was a killer deal back in the day. What changed, however, was games. Unreal Engine 5 is an onerous monster of an Engine that the people who made the PS5 were unlikely to have fully seen coming, while other games are now adding ray tracing effects to the core rendering pipeline. There's also the simple and unavoidable point that games are taking longer to make, and publishers are ever greedier, so precious time needed to make games run well just isn't being allocated any more. No previous generation has been left behind by the march of software design quite as hard as the PS5/Series X, and the PS5 pro feels more like a desperate attempt to catch up than a real upgrade people might want.
@@KaNe-007Yeah, what's up with the PS5 game library? It almost feels like a ghost town. This after we're now 4 years into the PS5's release. What in the world is going on?
It's not worth it. The best way to save money on games is sales + used games, but this is digital only. They are FORCING a fee on you to buy a disc drive if you want your physical games again. They are disrespecting your NEED to save money(let's face it, we're at the point where this is true because everything is getting expensive.)
The disc drive is 80 isn’t it? Making it a 330 price hike? And that’s if you don’t want the stand too. So you’re spending close to 800 dollars on a marginally better system at that point. What a bargain lmao
@@arianadonis4099 there were already storage upgrades available for the base model, I have one in mine right now, that’s not a reason to buy an entirely new over priced system. And the upgrades are cool but it doesn’t even matter in like 95 percent of the PS5 collection, and even if they are optimized for the pro, if you don’t have a super nice Monitor or tv you literally can not tell the difference from further than 5 feet away. Like it’s impossible to tell, All that for close to 800 dollars? I’m good thanks
My main issue is that the PS4 to PS4 Pro was a 100% performance increase at the same launch price while PS5 Pro is almost double the price for only 45% higher performance. And we know they can do better. Even in the PC market the RX 7700 XT is nearly 60% better than the RX 5700 XT and at only $50 more. So for such a small upgrade at such a massive price hike, it's a complete waste.
Then don't buy ffs , why always complaining , its like the apple products , everyone complain about them , and between a serie and the previous there is no upgrade , but when we see sales , it always dominate , so don't blame the companies plz , cuz they just follow what consumers do ,
@@alaa341g then don't read the comments ffs, why always complaining about people sharing their opinions about a product under a video talking about said product?
The higher performance on the 4 Pro was mostly wasted on high resolutions at identical graphics settings. The Pro offers 2-3x better RT, , 33% better audio and superior graphics with a sharp image using PSSR upscaling. Not to mention full RDNA 2,3 and some RDNA 4 features. 60fps on PS5 vs Pro is night and day. PSSR is the game changer here, it widens the gap beyond 45%.If Sony had simply increased GPU power the jump would actually be less noticeable, as native rendering would eat up all that extra horsepower, and that is exactly what happened with the 4 Pro.
The Ps4 pro was worth it, I have one it was genuinely better than base ps4 and slim edition and it made sense since it was a transition to 4k tvs, it also keeps getting new games now so all in all a good investment. Plus the Ps4 pro still came with a disk drive. The Ps5 pro? Right now a total rip off. Like you say it should have been a minimum 100% performance increase. They won't do that so atleast package ps5 pro with the disk drive, stand and dual sense controller for that price.
I don't like that the gaming industry is headed towards a blockbuster scenario and getting rid of consumers ability to buy games physically in a store.
@@bassyeywith the only difference on PC You have múltiple digital stores, making prices lower and getting more special discounts. @@YourFriendlyGymRat Point is, not including the disc drive disincentivises people to buy a disc drive, especially at these prices, when they may as well just buy games digitally, which then further disincentivises publishers to stop producing physical games altogether for a console, which will give the go-ahead for the PS6 and further to get rid of the disc drive entirely or even the ability to even get one.
IDC who you are.. $700 isn't chump change to a man taking supporting a family. This thing needed to offer more than some sharper image. PS5 Amateur is capable but the developers are lazy.
The laziness comes from the lack of urgency to optimize anything. With DLSS/FSR/Frame-Gen shit, the excuse is to leeway the task of optimization to "AI" and call it a day. I've never seen this degree of incompetency since PC gaming from the mid 2000's.
@mubarakalhajri582 I mean the games man these cost 70 dollars a piece, which eventually releases on pc and gets cheaper over time .besides, ppl only spend money on live action games to modify their characters. Idk man I might be wrong
A great point was made in this video… if you aren’t doing a side-by-side comparison, you can’t even tell a difference. There is basically no reason to “upgrade” if you already have a regular PS5, especially if it has a disc drive.
By that logic apple would go bunkrupt , man the performance upgrade is there , its just that ps5 games are just too well optimized that you won't feel difference , wait till the end of this generation and you'll see the real difference between the pro and the base

Use it on its side. Didnt need any stand for. Cut some acoustic panel and it sideways on it. Easy. No dosc drive. Well you can buy one. I dont need one ans if i some day want one. Ill get one. It's a tough sell because people know in another 2 or 3 years the machine will become obsolete and Sony will come out PS6 and right now paying $700 for it is simply not worth it.
In all honesty, this generation could go to 2030 easily. If so we're halfway through the generation right now which would track, we still aren't fully utilizing the hardware, especially so with these pro models. Let alone GTA 6 will be the defining game of the entire generation and it won't be out for at least another year.
You CAN get a disc drive for it still though...they just didn't make a version with the drive included, because it probably doesn't make sense to have two different SKUs on a niche, enthusiast item like this.
@@Highlander77 Yeah. That said for an enthusiast item I just think it should be included for this type of customer. Playing any physical games you already had, game sharing, cheaper prices of physical are still meaningful to some people. I can understand what you are saying though. A hard sell is an understatement. The PS5 Slim + 1 controller, a disc drive, and stand is $800 AUD here in Australia. Somewhat reasonable. The PS5 Pro + 1 controller, but without a disc drive or stand, is $1,200 AUD. That's a $400 increase, and if you want an extra controller, a disc drive, and stand it increases to $1,530 AUD. @@WllKiedSnake I doubt it, Pro consoles don’t usually go on sale, and even then a sale that’ll take maybe $150 off of that $1530 price tag still doesn’t change things much if at all for anyone (myself included) balking at something that costs roughly the same as a 7900XTX over here
@Xusies1 But they do go on sale?.... And build a PC then? You won't convince people who want to buy a console. To not buy one and to build a PC. And it's 699.99 for me. I can already knock £14 off it. I don't know that currency.

Concord is the easy scapegoat, the truth is that Sony has been continuously failing to produce any kind of live service game as they were betting on those as their money makers as they aim to retain IP exclusivity. They lost as soon as they failed to offer a service equal to Xbox gamepass.
The result of these continuous failures is to price hike. It will fail monumentally and we're likely to see whole swathes of Sony owned companies made redundant. They are sweating. Or worse, just preparing their own grave. It's an excellent stock to short at the moment.
What I hate most about the pro is that us that were there on day one with the original PS5, have the most expensive upgrade path, because if you have the slim with disc and stand, you can use them with the pro. But if you bought the original PS5 with disc drive, you can’t use it with the pro, neither the stand. It almost feels as if being loyal to Sony got you punished, now I have a library of physical titles (Rebirth among them which is probably the one game that actually shows a noticeable difference) that I can’t use with the pro unless I add another $80 to buy the disc drive. And Sony didn’t even bother to add another Pro model with disc drive included because would why they do that if they can charge you separately
Everytime Sony hikes the price, they just get more people to buy a PC. Part of this is from Xbox not having a pro version of the series x, so Sony is getting greedy. Consoles need to stay a loss leader, the PS4 Pro at launch was $400. The PS5 Pro at $700 is still way above the rate of inflation. Yea def a pass on this one.
You should have stopped buying that plastic junk long time ago. Writing was on the wall for a long time that physical is going away. It will be more and more inconvenient going forward. Now my library is fully digital and I don't need to think twice about legacy nonsense such us bluray drives and discs. Just log in on the new console and all my games are right there waiting to be installed. So convenient.
The backlash on PS3 price was so controversial that Sony had to lower the price of the console much later. Now, they made a 700$ console with slightly better performance + separated disc drive + stand, which comes close to almost 1000$, and yet they're going unpunished? No consequences? The game industry is so freaking screwed.
Bud thinks 700 is close to 1000 🤣 it's more closer to 500 than 1000 and Xbox sold 2tb console at 600$ without the upgraded GPU with that in mind that should easy your concerns about the price and no it's not slightly better it's a 50% performance to visual upgrade
@@Space97. It's $700 without the disc drive and stand. When you add the drive, stand and tax then it is close to 1000. And that's in the US where it's cheaper than elsewhere.
The PS3 price was the price for the base console, that you HAD to buy if you wanted to play on PlayStation. The PS5 Pro is an optional edition of the console, and the digital is still $399 and the base is $499. There's a BIG difference between these two scenarios
I dont think the price is that unreasonable, yes you are only getting minor visual improvements but the graphics performance is significantly improved it's just that Sony games were already very well optimised. The tech itself costs more than on the ps5. Inflationary pressures will mean that Sony will have to increase the price, not to mention the fact they were already not making any money on the physical ps5 itself, they can't really reduce the price any further. They should definitely included the stand though but they may have still have had to price them both together at the same as it is today.

And when you add the CPU, motherboard, PSU, RAM, SSD, and case, you went bankrupt. While console gamers can buy a 4K gaming machine just for $700.
It is a very good device, the problem is the price! Ps5 was released nearly 4-5 years ago, this should have been 500 dollars considering it also loosed the dics drive.
Unfortunately, the price of electronics hasn't really dropped though. The Switch is still $300. The Xbox has remained the same price. I honestly believe this is Sony testing a new strategy. They see how these consoles often sell out and get sold on the secondary market for markups. They are trying to capture that early adopter markup themselves. I predict this will VERY quickly see a the official price drop. Probably shortly after Christmas, and maybe by as much as $200.

Sony shit themselves in the foot multiple times during the PS3 era not having paid subscription to play online, hacked multiple times, less reliable than Xbox live, was just worse overall as a service.
Those were NOT the good old days, did you even play on PSN back then? I remember PSN before it became a subscription service, I'd be lucky to actually connect to a game, and if I did more often than not it would be laggy or the server would shut down mid game. Meanwhile on my Xbox 360, while Xbox Live cost money it worked so well, it was really night and day between the two services. But when Sony started charging for it, all of a sudden, they had to provide a decent experience.

I think one of the biggest problems is, that the price of the original PS5 to this day did not really fall that much. So Sony thinks they can get away with upping the price by 200-300 bucks. If the PS5 would actually cost around 350 bucks now, Sony could easily price the PS5 Pro with a "reasonable" 500-600$ tag. Since the normal PS5 is still almost 500 bucks - basically the same when it released, there is no possibility for it to be priced accordingly. Also: Considering that the majority of hardcore gamers (who would actually have an interest in the pro version) have probably a disc version of the OG PS5, there is even less an argument for those to upgrade from OG to PRO. If I would actually want to upgrade I 'have' to buy a disc drive, cuz all my games (excluding a hand full of indy titles) are on a disc, not digital. They would be useless unless I go all the way with the external disc drive. On a side note: Cheaping out on the stand for a price THAT high, is almost criminal! You can not tell me, that the margins on the console wouldn't allow for a stand to be included. In general I feel like the PS5 Pro just isn't worth it. At all. Its a hard sell for people already owning an OG console and its a hard sell for people wanting to get into PS gaming. If you havent gotten into PlayStation yet, the PS5 Pro "might" be an option though, since you can just ignore the disc drive and wait for digital sales to come up. @-Burb I appreciate PCs aren't necessarily huge grey towers anymore, but still, in a front room, tucked away under the tv and thr blu ray player (etc) it's just gonna be waaay too intrusive. Plus, setting everything up, configuring settings etc etc. To be honest, being able to just pick up a controller and press 'on' is far more preferable. I appreciate that convenience comes at a small price price, but it's one I'd rather pay.
I am not buying any console that doesn’t have a disc drive or some kind of cartridge for the games, I want my games to be playable forever like the original NES
@faaizx Yeah, it is stupid, absolutely. Sony are greedy shits, but I wasn't going to miss out on upgrading because of an extra $80 or whatever. If you really want to stick your middle finger up at Sony, keep physical media alive.
@@AdAstra78 it’s $80 now for a add on that’s should be included in a $700 console, and next time there won’t be a add on option that’s what they’re all pushing for
@Chewyness I hear you, the principle here really sucks. Still, the best way of pissing Sony off is to buy the disc drive and make sure they know there's still a big market for gamers who are against paying their extortionate online prices. It's the best way of saying "F*ck you".
Soooo many Sonyboys here justifying spending $800 of Mom’s money 😂 Yikes. A pc costs more, but you can upgrade it piece by piece and stay current for 3 console generations. Consoles are landfill fodder.
@ lol no. Ps5 had all that shit on the box saying 4k and 8k but it was never rendering games close to 4k. Mostly rendered at 720 or 1080 and upscale to 4k… 5pro can render some games at 1440 and has a much better upscaling to 4k.
I’m absolutely disgusted. It’s still only 32 gbps HDMI port so tv colors at 120hz look washed out. Another disappointment is that the console is still only 1gbe for LAN. On a pro machine that’s not ok. Even your cheap PC motherboards nowadays have 2.5 gbe LAN. Yeah, they can put Wi-Fi 7 which basically nobody has yet and I would argue people would get more use out of a 2.5 gbe LAN port. All I can say is this has been a very mediocre upgrade and an expensive one too, so it’s a hard pass for me.
@@Boss_Fight_Index_muki well just because most people do something doesn’t make them right it just means sometimes all the fools are on one side. I’m OK if they upgrade to Wi-Fi 7, that was actually a really good move, but they shouldn’t just ignore the LAN port, especially not on a pro machine. I excused it on the base PS5 because it wasn’t marketed toward enthusiasts.

This is a perfect example of why PCs are more cost efficient than consoles. You could have bought a $700-$800 PC with a 6700xt a few years back that performed better than a $500 PS5. Now, you could have upgraded that PC to a 6800xt for $400, compared to $700+ for a PS5 Pro. Now add price of PS online services. So for less price, you enjoyed better performance on the PC (barring poor ports), modding support, unlocked fps, with a much wider selection of games, peripherals and ability to do other tasks. And you can upgrade the PC to a PS6 equivalent in the future too for cheaper (maybe a used 7900xtx). Consoles are great for comfort and convenience but I hate it when people recommend them based on their price. If you are strapped for cash, go for PC.
Dude, pc gamer here, i get it's aggravating sony has as much control over 3rd party devs as they do, but it's a bad idea to fudge the numbers. If you are gonna use 2nd hand prices for pc parts, say it, then compare it to a 2nd hand ps5. Also, consolers don't play mobas, mmos, hero shooters, etc at any where near the same ratio as us. they mostly stick to single player games, like 90%+ of them, so ps+ for them is an optional thing.
6700xt? during the covid shortage? No way. In 2022 maybe, but it still would have cost €400. Even the PS5 Pro was scalped to shit. Then add a €100 1TB SSD, Motherboard, CPU and RAM which were more expensive back then and I'm certain that it would have been more than €800. People who are buying a PS5 don't know wtf modding, fps and other technicalities. At €500 it was perfect for normies. PS5 Pro has no target audience. No one's gonna buy a €800 console, and people who want better graphics will buy a PC.
People don't remember that PS5 was not readily available in shops. I bought mine from store not from scalpers, with 2 gamepads and F1 24 for 700 Euros almost. If I had to shelve out 900Euros for PS5 Pro with optical drive + stand, that in total would set me back 1600 Euros for both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Yes, I know you can sell PS5 and make some money back, but 1600 Euros is enough to buy pretty decent PC or gaming laptop these days. Also those mid-gen updates shouldn't be a thing. The whole DLSS/FSR debate opens up again and while I do like the technology, I think it made game programmers/developers lazy when it comes to optimization. Most games you showcased could run at 60fps on base model IF the games were actually optimized. Why I say it like that? Because we have seen those problems on PC for few years now. Devs who don't know what optimization is are unfortunately starting to become majority in gaming industry. We go back again to: can't run it, buy better hardware loophole, which SHOULD never be the case. Last true console from Sony was PS3 where devs actually had to learn how to code for this console, but when they did, they became top tier programmers who knew what they were doing. Last bastion of such programmers remains with CryTek and id Software. I believe the guys who make a port of Ys series, spoke about how simple code optimization led to 200+ fps increase on same hardware without using upscaling techniques. STALKER 2 devs also do it for XSS, optimizing the game. There needs to be demand for optimization, otherwise we will end up in bad spot.

@@KaNe-007Glad to see you made the jump. Enjoy!

You lose the disc drive and get more SSD space so you can... pay $60 for a game that could be had for $15 on disc used... Is it still good value?
My main issue is that the PS4 to PS4 Pro was a 100% performance increase at the same launch price while PS5 Pro is almost double the price for only 45% higher performance. And we know they can do better. Even in the PC market the RX 7700 XT is nearly 60% better than the RX 5700 XT and at only $50 more. So for such a small upgrade at such a massive price hike, it's a complete waste.

The backlash on PS3 price was so controversial that Sony had to lower the price of the console much later.

Oh it will be fun times. More competition is needed on this market.

Sony should revert back to the good old PS3 days where PSN wasnt required for online gaming.
That would never happen sadly 😩. Sony make a shit load of money off of paid PSN charge service
I was waiting on the PS5 Pro to buy into this generation. I still use lots of physical PS4 games and Blu-Rays. An $80 add-on for a disk drive is a kick in the teeth.
Anyway, my refurbished PS5 from Sony's website has been great so far. And for half the price of what I would have to pay to consume physical media on a PS5 Pro.
I hear you that the $80 is an annoyance, on principle. Still, in the grand scheme of things, I'm surprised so many people see it as make or break. It's hardly a bank-breaking amount. Really annoyed me having to buy one separately, but hey.

The Pro is very clearly a luxury upgrade item.
I already had a PS5 with a disc drive and a stand, so I would have zero need for those two extra components. They are designed to be modular on purpose. I am thoroughly pleased with the performance improvements. On the Pro, I've played Armored Core 6, Helldivers 2, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Elden Ring, Lords of the Fallen, and Spider-Man Remaster all with very clear performance improvements. The games are smoother and sharper in significant ways.
I also understand the market, the features added (PSSR is a big deal, man, seriously, most people do not appreciate what this means moving forward), and the state of the global economy and inflation. The price is reasonable, if a little bit high, but still not nearly as bad as all these complaints are suggesting. Yea but that difference isn’t worth $200. You’re basically paying for more storage, that’s the real draw of the PS5 pro.
@navyvet05 to me it's definitely worth it.
Remember that you have to pay a monthly subscription to gain the full digital access that makes going digital only worth it in the first place!

You're comparing used PC parts in America only to the price of the console
6700xt? during the covid shortage?
@@NineS5 Pretty sure most gamers know what framerate is and mods
@@Boss_Fight_Index_muki where tf are you going to buy used ps5 pro today buddy?
linus, oil up
People don't remember that PS5 was not readily available in shops.
*_I love my Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Pro._*
Kojima just bought Death Stranding licenses, so there probably goes the only reason I was considering getting any PS5.
Death Stranding 2 is gonna be on PS5 for at least 2 years before it comes to PC. It took 5 years to come to Xbox. But I'd say 1 year to Xbox after PC.
Your box emptying prowess is perfection sir, well played!
my pc is perfectly fine for games, thanks
I have a disk original ps5. I would have sold it second hand and bought the pro happily even at preorder IF they included a disk drive. One extra tb of storage i can see how that is a 100 upcharge plus i can also justify the "pro"ness of the concole being another 100. But with the disc drive the original still goes for 500. I am

I don't mean this in the condescending way that people usually say it, but you do realize you can get a disk drive for it, right?
@@Highlander77If only you could get one......😂
@@Highlander77 Your are okay. I know that you can buy the disk drive but its $80 bucks right? That means it an extra 100 to the total cost and that personally tips me over to the not buy it side of this comparison. Like I said before the price hike is justifiable, especially with how pc's had a price hike over the last 3 years.
It's already got bandwidth issues and not even getting full power. Told u all os5 was gonna hold it back like series s does the X
The PS5 Pro should have been the base PS5. "Pro" means professional, so it doesn’t make sense to label a console as "Pro"-it’s not a laptop or phone. Professional gamers play on PCs, not consoles. Come on Sony...
90% of PC gamers aren't professionals. And plenty of professionals play on console so your argument isn't valid.
