- Feeling pessimistic about the Seahawks now after their ugly 29-20 loss to the Giants at home on Sunday?
Well I'm here to (at least try to) help you see the light.
The Seahawks CAN absolutely beat this 49ers team on Thursday Night Football in what has become a massively important early-season matchup for both teams.
How can they pull it off? I'll share my 3 reasons, and try to explain them as thoroughly as possible.

I’ve rewatched that game 5 times, and another few more times watching the 22’s. It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought. Other than the tackling and some poor coaching decisions. I think everyone was expecting us to come out with our hair on fire, and kick their asses. But they didn’t. It’s early, the staff is new and young. My expectations have completely changed, and that’s fine. In the last decade plus, 9 wins was a bad year! So if it’s a rebuilding year, so be it. I was thinking, hey, maybe this is a 10 win team, scratch our way into the playoffs…I don’t think that will be the case, but I’m going to cheer on my boys, and enjoy the season, regardless of the outcome.
Honestly, as long as Metcalf doesnt fumble the ball leading to a score we can beat any team.

I think the best game we’ve seen the Hawks play so far was their loss to the Lions. So much was clicking that night for them, despite how many we were missing due to injury. We’ve seen flashes of what the team can be in other games, but I think they’re still searching for their identity and may not even find it before the end of the season. I don’t think Macdonald or Grubb’s jobs are on the line at all at this stage. Maybe if they were to have two back to back losing seasons they could be in the hot seat, but not this year. I still have faith that our guys will get better & continue to gel as the season goes on, but I do worry about making the playoffs now. A few weeks in and I felt certain they would. But as I look at other teams around the league, I’m seeing similar problems for many. Even teams with winning records have shown a lot of sloppy play several times. I agree with Dan’s statement that just about every team could beat any other on any given day at this point in the season. Only time will tell whether this is a year where the Hawks will improve under the new coaches and systems, or the next. Regardless of the 2024 season outcome, I’ll still enjoy cheering on the Seahawks and the fun times that come with watching games!

There's a YT channel called All 22 where the guy does some excellent analysis. A disturbing trend from the Giant game was a variety of guys making assignment mistakes, especially at the LOS. Two guys filling one gap, leaving another for the runner to hit for good yardage. I can see that as bad prep, or difficulty with a new, and possibly complex system. Not sure which it is, but it's on the coaching staff to fix that. You can bet Shannahan sees that and will test that early and often............and his system is built to slaughter those kinds of mistakes. Macdonald has had a slow start before with a very good Ravens team, so no need to panic, but will this group recover in the second half of the season like that Ravens team did? Likewise, Grubb, I hope, is getting a lesson in the need for real balance at the pro level, please, don't think you can get away with a heavy dose of passing alone.
I mean, the niners got humbled themselves by the cardinals as well, right?
After listening to the Cohn interview, I have some hope.

I’m with the must win people! 3 straight that includes losses in back to back home games!!!! That locker room is gonna be in the dumps and it will be really hard for them to rally in the coming weeks. They most definitely need this win!
Even if there record is worse than last years they're still heading in the right direction. It takes 2 years to properly install the Mike Macdonald defense and we need better O-line men but it takes time for a unit to Gel, Luck, the draft and getting the correct players in free agency. "Patience" my fellow hawk fan's. Next year and the year after will be a great time to be a Seahawks fan.

Go watch all our field goal they are taught to lay forward and down giants seen that in the first two field goal and game planned that play in game great eye bye the giants special teams coordinator or whoever noticed how we block during field goal check out the tape on it and hands down to one of you who seen that and pointed it out sorry cant remember which Seahawks youtuber who picked it up

No. The game is won or lost in the trenches. D Line has not stopped the run yet.
O line does not block well whether run or pass.
Niners are hurting but they still have better lines on both sides. Unfortunately.
I definitely think the Seahawks have paths to victory. I'm just not convinced they have as many, or will be as desperate, as the 49ers.
After the Giants game, I'm really just more interested in seeing if the Seahawks can clean up some of the errors we keep having, especially against the run.
Winning would be awesome, of course, but I don't think this is the year to care as much about their record as about their ability to learn, grow, and improve as a team.
Show some positive signs as to where this coaching staff is leading this franchise.

After watching the film on the rush defense I’m really concerned. Dremont Jones might be the worst overpay of John Schneider. His effort was embarrassing in the giants game. I was high on Jenkins but he’s looked suspect these last few games. Baker and Dodson have gotten exposed these last few games as well. Last point, where are the splash plays from our number 5 pick Witherspoon? He’s been invisible this season for the most part.
Man people are overreacting. This is a learning year. Learning the system. Learning how to be a head coach/coordinators. Learning each other. That loss hurts but it will make the hawks as an organization better. Mike Macdonald is gonna be a helluva coach and we will be grateful he’s on our side. Be patient. I have no expectations outside of watching everyone, yes EVERYONE grow.

The NFL has handed the Hawks a brutal schedule. The remaining teams may or may not have a similar schedule. 3 games over 10 days does not allow the body to heal. How does the NFL expect viewers to see team players perform at their best? NFL needs to consider this not only for the viewer and player safety as well.
I bet on games all the time! The Giants game was a “trap game” for Seattle! Seattle has Offensive & Special teams coaching issues! Giants are real good in the trenches! Seattle had too many guys coming back from injuries with the SF Game looking Thursday! Grubb wanted to keep our RB’s fresh for the SF game, Ravens lost a game earlier this year doing the same thing!
The SF game this Thursday has always been a must win especially with SF’s poor play & injuries! Seattle had no choice but to look ahead but the coaches can’t tell the players that!
Seattle will be 4-2 after Thursday & SF will be 0-3 in the division! Seattle is a good team right now = they can beat anybody & lose to anybody right now! This is exactly where we want to be! We need the full season to be a Great Team this year! Hopefully next year we will have a chance to be a Great Team by Mid Season!
Macdonald may be the guy, but he has not fixed the missed tackles situation that continues from the previous regime.
I said it before the giants game there are no gimmie games in the NFL you gotta earn it , and look at the teams that played the lions the week after how many times teams lost , they beat teams up , might be why they lacked energy, shoulda won but hey they didn't, after DK fumble I knew they wouldn't recover from that , go Hawks 🦅🤘

SF is not a better team than the Giants right now nor are the Lions right now! The Giants Dallas game were signs that the Giants are Good! Dallas will probably beat Detriot & is sure to cover as a 3 1/2 dog against Detriot!
When a team is missing a starting LB & starting Safety watch out the opposing offense has lots of opening especially when the Defense lacks inside pass rush! Jerome Baker was flat against the Giants that was expected being his first game but we had to play him because we need him against SF!
Seattle should easily beat SF because SF is a poor team right now!

Yes Sharps over looked Geno’s tendencies to regress we ignored it because Geno was Awsome in training camp & the beginning of the season! We thought 34 years old barely used last decade gave him an advantage over typical 34 year olds! We were wrong lesson learned! FYI Seattle didn’t go all in on Geno or the Free Agents look at the contracts! Dremont Jones is the only 1 not playing to his contract but he’s being asked to drop back into coverage something he’s not good at! Again I never said Seattle was Great I said SF was Terrible & we are better! We are 0-1 & SF is 1-2 in the division, 3 games in 11 days is behind us now!
