Several weeks ago I made a batch of fungi tea. I didn’t see it happen but it foamed over about 1’ and made a mess on the 2 corner walls. Question; on my next batch, should I apply it to the garden when the foam reaches 1’ high? I don’t use a heater anymore.
This was a great video. I am sorry but after seeing his design I am goin out to make my own small 30gal tote system based on his design.
So yeah im stealing his design lol.

In some of the FB groups, knowledgeable horticulture folks were really adamant with me that brewing compost tea doesn't really add any extra benefits over just fertilizing with the same ingredients. I look at a few studies thereafter and they seemed to suggest the same. Do you have other considerations to add that counter the idea that brewing isnt worth the time in the home garden? Maybe it is that in a commercial setting, the resources are there to monitor bacteria and fungi levels of the brew and ensure its good bacteria? I dont know these answers myself.
It's important to distinguish compost that was used from municipal waste (which is the commonly tested and talked about form) from biological inoculum using compost as a medium (which is extremely hard to find unless you know how to do it yourself). They are monitoring this compost and the teas and extracts constantly for quality purposes. It's important to note that compost tea also is something poorly understood. I'm sure those horticulture folk have no idea that plant roots perform rhizophagy as their primary function i.e. consume and digest microbes whole - there's a definite benefit to good compost and good compost teas, but the science wasn't there until recently, most folks have not been reading the most recent releases, and good compost has only been tested in a few areas like the Johnson-Su New Mexico University study/published literature. I would also be careful with FB groups - I've never seen one that was truly reliable with information. I have to constantly prune and edit my own groups because misinformation springs up there like sprouts after spring rains. My work is all cited and I work with university scientists and some of the most published researchers in the world.

You are right I dont hear many folks talk about the rhizophagy in those groups nor in other RUclips channels, besides you. You have made me aware of those areas over the years and I know you always look at the science, which is appreciated. This is the reason I knew better than to just leave a comment here with a blunt, "this doesnt work". Instead I thought, wow, with Matt's reliability in science, what if there really is something to this. Now i think I am understand a little better. Thanks! Will miss your presence out west btw ;)
