Best thing about halo 1 and halo 3 is the texture details, halo 1 has the neat little detail textures that shows when you stop and look really close halo 3 has the same but with also added bumpmaps it really gave depth to the game world as you zoom in on cheif and notice little scratches and dents in the armor unfortunately detail textures isnt so popular in the remasters or newer halo games they just generally amp up the texture resolution but have no added detail textures that improves the look up close so you dont see the individual pixels because you do even in h2 anniversary.
I don't like how they seem to lighten up certain areas and reduce the contrast unnecessarily, it detracts from the art style and aesthetic of the original that I adore.
Bro, just turn down your UI GAMMA for halo mcc and the problem is completely fixed. Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 has its gamma to about 4.6 or 4.4 while the gamma for halo mcc has it set automatically to 5. There is literally no difference (thankfully) from the original game.
Original: 960x540 Low quality textures No anti-aliasing 30fps target but unstable fps. Remastered: 1920x1080 High quality textures 4x MSAA Locked 60fps You still think the original is the best?
The Remastered version with it being 60 FPS (and higher FPS in general) also gives you better control of your character's actions. It allows you to be more precise and less jerky in your aim. Having a higher framerate allows you to give more input faster from your controller or M&K into the game compared to someone who has a lower framerate.
It's just a polished port of the original, the real remaster is coming in 2017, at the 10 year anniversary, just like they did with Halo: CE and Halo 2. I'm very sure.

guys halo 3 and 4 are only upgraded to 1080p and 60 fps, there wasnt supposed to be a huge difference, the focus was on halo 2 being completely remastered. the focus wasnt on 3 or 4 but the remastered versions of those will most likely be coming soon
1. It's not Halo 3: Remastered 2. The bump up to 1080 removes a lot of horrible jaggys that were there previously, and let's you see the textures in a higher resolution. 3. The bump up to 60 frames a second makes the animation buttery smooth, take a look at 0:57 4. There are some lighting changes, makes some bloom and reflections look really good. I think it could use a little more contrast especially with the shadows but still an improvement overall.
Just to say on that No.3 point, I'm basically 100% sure that footage is purposefully slowed down to show the shot of the pelican for a greater amount of time as opposed to the frame rate tanking, I've played a lot of Halo 3 on original hardware and the frame rate was never so terrible there at all.
All they did was crank the fps to 60 and the resolution to 1080p. Not a very good comparison video as the other half of the changes they made can't be present with your video capped at 30fps.
@InfiniteGamingHD lmao this aged like milk. The game looks and plays great in 4K on my PC plus reshade makes the lighting look way better than the original. Only an idiot would hate on the PC port.

I think it was a wise decision for them to prioritise 60fps and leave the graphics more or less unchanged (with improvements to anti aliasing, resolutions etc).
Maybe, the 10th anniversary remaster of Halo 1 came out too soon for another remaster 3 years later. But I think Halo 3 will be remastered next year for the 10th anniversary of that game. I don't have the M.C.C. so is Halo 2 the only newly remastered game?
Doomguy thing is... You paying for better optimization in all seriousness. Which is like what 30 to 40 bucks? Lol with a sharper image? 60 fps isn't that great to warranty paying more for. Can it upscale to 1080p? It says 1080p on the back of the box but some people are saying it runs sub 720p. Also does that fiber optic fix the crappy assault rifle sound?
If you play splitscreen it looks like sub 720p. Other then that it always looked sharp and good on my Samsung tv. The fiber optic 5.1 sound was great for directional sound. Plus if you are playing with a loud group its much better to be able to crank the volume up.. The assault rifle sound is taste dependent. It never bothered me much.. Better then in Halo2. Overall one of the best games I got to know back in the days.

Imma be honest even with glasses i really don’t see much of a difference compared to halo 2 remastered and I know it is a few year difference but still I think halo 2 looks better in comparison
My theory is that they will do a Remaster after Halo Infinite, using the Slipspace engine. It would make A LOT of money, since the engine is already there, and Infinite mostly uses 3's art syle, they could simply reuse a lot of assets from Infinite to make a 3 Remaster. Similar to how the Halo 1 remaster reused a lot of Reach assets.
daniel lawl Make a screencapture to the comparation between the original and the remastered, open the image and put all the zoom, then you will see the magic
Friend: "isn't halo that one game where you stand on beaches and kill alien zombies with a gun that allways says 32 on it?" Me who has played every halo game: "no, it's more than that, it was a game that gave us childhood, memories and friends with its AMAZING campaign and unique gameplay, it was the good days"
***** I don't know where I was complaining, honestly. I was just making sure everyone knew, y'know, help the community. I say we drop this and move along.
When you actually play halo 3 on the master chief collection you can tell right away there's a significant boost to the fame rate it feels much smoother but other than that there's not much different but honestly the game still looks amazing
i have it running on the Xbox One S on a 50 inch hd tv. it looks unbelievable. never thought i would see such good framerate and resolution on a big screen. Surround sound to go with that
The original and remastered version are pretty much the same, except for the remastered version having more lighting and is more HD and with an additional frame of 60fps. To be honest when I first played the remastered version, I wasn't entirely impressed; I felt like I was playing the same exact Halo 3 from my xbox 360. 343 should have at least updated Halo 3 with a little more better graphics; maybe by making it look real as Halo reach or a bit realer than reach. They should also have made Halo 3's cinematic cutscenes with actual CGI like how they did Halo 2 anniversary's cinematic cutscenes. Hell, Halo 3's cutscenes look awful compared to Halo 2 anniversary's cutscenes.
Maybe. It depends how much money Halo 5 will make, and if they actually are gonna make a Halo 3 anniversary. The mcc was great to me. It was just the remastered Halo 3 that I found a bit disappointing, it needs a little bit of better graphics than its original. Don't deny it.
Point man I don't know where you get this idea that I'm denying it - in my original post, I give various reasons as to why that is the case, that's one step past acceptance, y'know. Halo 5 is going to make a lot of money considering the vast amount of preorders they are getting (mine being one of them, since my birthday usually coincides with the release of a new Halo, so why not), and the servers have an astronomically low chance of failing at launch, so there's not going to be a fiasco like MCC. The gameplay is good (for once), and it will have already scared off the people who don't like the look of it from buying the game, so there's not a lot of chance of many people returning it. Considering that, Halo 5 will very likely at least meet predicted sales quotas and has a low chance of being a flop. Though, 343 have said that they're drawing the line at Halo 2 (which is really a shame, because Halo 3 is my favourite Halo), and if they want to start developing it, they have to start by the beginning of 2016 at the latest, lest they run out of time (and I'm certain no one wants that to happen).
They shouldn't stop at Halo 2. But you're right and time constraints is the issue. However, they don't need to focus on making a Halo 3 anniversary, if time is truly the case; they can at least remaster Halo 3 again, more later rather than 2017.
Point man Besides, while Halo 3's graphics are undoubtedly the most dated in the collection, I doubt remastering them in 2017 would update them THAT much. It'd look nicer, sure, but remastering them in, say, 2020 maybe would be a better course of action in my opinion. There are more positives to doing it later rather than sooner, at any rate. In my opinion, they should remaster the entire original trilogy as a tribute to its success.
2:21 is probably the best example why people prefer the original version and if you can't understand why please do not ever work in post-processing for any industry.
Typhoonproductions Dammit! We'll, at this point, i would just play all the original games separately, cuz at least i get a working multiplayer. Fuck it, i'm getting a new 360...
I don't see it as a waste of time, cause it probably didn't take much work at all. Plus if you are a fan of higher resolutions, anti-aliasing, antistropic filtering (texture filtering), and 60fps it'll be quite noticeable on the feel of the game
the main key difference's remastered as its called was rendered at 1080 - 1920 60fps the original 1152 - 640 at 30fps so lighting would been seen and work more dynamically it was just the limits of the hardware in the day the one just showed off how it should have looked if rendered in true 1080 back in its day so the only change is resolution and fps the remastered just shows the original beauty for what it truly was meant to be shown at if hardware wasn't an issue back then.
It's the same just some improvements on the resolution, the original was sub HD 1152x640, the "Remastered" is just 1920x1080p native, no other difference.
I would hardly class this as a remaster so much as a touch up its like the difference between a 780p and a 1080p video there's a enough to notice a little but if you never told anyone about it I don't think many people would have noticed
I don’t know why they titled the video “remastered”, it’s literally the same game rereleased in a collection on newer consoles. The real Halo 3 anniversary sadly never came out.

It's slightly brighter? It really looks like they didn't have to enhance very much at all. Original still looks good after nearly 13 years
The original Halo 3 had so much better saturation. But many will only notice the resolution in MCC has been upscaled, which may appeals more than the saturation level.
Okay, i will have to say while i can make out the slight improvements it is HARDER to spot the better graphics when everything is shown from either different angles or in one of the forms the figure is covered in shadow.
I'm sad being that Halo 3 is my favorite and it wasn't given a true remaster.

I love Halo and i will probably end up buying MCC, but there is hardly any fucking difference, is it just me?
Fucky FuckPants Halo 3 and 4 just had their resolution, textures, and framerate touched up. Buy it for Halo 2.
Frame rate and resolution bumps are much needed over original
It looks a bit more polished but I want a remastered like Halo CE or Halo 2
Halo 2 remaster was 10 times better than halo ce remaster because blur studios did it
There's like.m
no difference at all
daniel lawl Only the fps.
daniel lawl Make a screencapture to the comparation between the original and the remastered, open the image and put all the zoom, then you will see the magic
It's not as easy to tell on a RUclips video capped at 30 fps
but as a person who has played it on an Xbox One, Halo 3 MCC looks a lot better, trust me
daniel lawl things are just less pixely
There is a big difference.
To me it looks like they fixed the laddering effect the older generations had but mad the shadowing to bright
Friend: "isn't halo that one game where you stand on beaches and kill alien zombies with a gun that allways says 32 on it?"
Me who has played every halo game: "no, it's more than that, it was a game that gave us childhood, memories and friends with its AMAZING campaign and unique gameplay, it was the good days"
Far less jaggies, better texture resolution and 1080p all at 60fps. Awesome.
They fucked up a lot of the shading, but apart from that, looks great.
Id have to disagree there
the people who made the video really just needed to lower the gamma level and that pretty much fixes the problem
I hate that when people compare they don't put it side by side
GUYS, LISTEN
Halo 3 is NOT remastered yet. It will probably be remastered in 2017
AIphawolf meh, doesn't really matter
AIphawolf Why are you being unnecessarily offensive? lmao
AIphawolf yes.
AIphawolf Anywho, thanks for hitting me up to correct me.
I'll keep the differences in mind next time :)
***** I don't know where I was complaining, honestly. I was just making sure everyone knew, y'know, help the community.
I say we drop this and move along.
This is not a remaster - it's a re-touch. The resolution has been increased, because the processor can handle the right frame rate.
After playing halo 2 remastered this was painful to play
+Alejandro G. Well, you should have played the game when it came out kid.
+TheELLanOs well you should've made a better comeback kid.
Whats the name of the mission at 2:24
When you actually play halo 3 on the master chief collection you can tell right away there's a significant boost to the fame rate it feels much smoother but other than that there's not much different but honestly the game still looks amazing
i have it running on the Xbox One S on a 50 inch hd tv. it looks unbelievable. never thought i would see such good framerate and resolution on a big screen. Surround sound to go with that
Halo 3 remake I can so not wait lol
Even though for an old game this looks pretty good!
it isn't happening...
Slightly off-topic, but: That's some of the best stock music I've heard!
Mind telling me what it is, Candyland? (artist and title)
Point man While their budget could likely handle updating Halo 3's cutscenes, time constraints were a big issue. There's always 2017, right?
In my opinion, they should remaster the entire original trilogy as a tribute to its success.
the only difference is the resolution which is either scaled up from below 720p or 720p up to 900p or 1080p
1 and 3 should have been remastered like 2. Just saying.
I really hope you guys know, the only remastered games in Halo MCC are Halo CE and Halo 2, 3 & 4 were ported the exact same
Nice :)
WTF
At 3:31 the soldier is like trying to kick the alien, LMAO :)))
The new graphics are just brighter
@@PKNproductions I never knew of that trick. That is rather cleaver.
2:21 is probably the best example why people prefer the original version and if you can't understand why please do not ever work in post-processing for any industry.
Original actually looks better
+Ron Swanson lol
+Ron Swanson lol
does the remaster have higher fps?
if it does then this comparison is pretty bad not including it
2:22 original wins
NO TI TODESENT LOOK AT EVEYRTHIGN ELES KGFDSIJFSJADSIFJADASR32432FFREGFHJG
Literally how? They look exactly the same, what is sub 720p better than 1080p cause nostalgia?
Halo 3
,the one and only, it still makes me cry everytime I put the disc in
BottleCap Guy Wtf
Original looks better but Remaster has a higher resolution.
and framerate
Who the fuck cares about the graphics, does the MCC even fully work, or does it still act like crap?
AnIconForYou They done great on the campaigns, it's the multiplayer they fucked up
Typhoonproductions Dammit! We'll, at this point, i would just play all the original games separately, cuz at least i get a working multiplayer. Fuck it, i'm getting a new 360...
AnIconForYou Dude, I was talking about the visuals, not the multiplayer ;)
Halo 3 needs a full remaster by itself
Why didn't they do What they did with halo 2
+Cynical Movement not halo 3 anniversary yet.
That's a lot more work. The game was too ambitious as it was (which us evident by its release state)
I couldn't agree more. what they did with halo 2 was amazing, this was basically just a waste of time because you can't tell the difference
I don't see it as a waste of time, cause it probably didn't take much work at all. Plus if you are a fan of higher resolutions, anti-aliasing, antistropic filtering (texture filtering), and 60fps it'll be quite noticeable on the feel of the game
I only notice the slightest of changes in the graphics, they look pretty much the same. 343 just cleaned up some small stuff
original is better end of story
That's where you're wrong.
+MajinHaku have you ever played halo 3 vanilla?
Yes, I have.
literally how
Hahahahahahahaha
the main key difference's remastered as its called was rendered at 1080 - 1920 60fps the original 1152 - 640 at 30fps so lighting would been seen and work more dynamically it was just the limits of the hardware in the day the one just showed off how it should have looked if rendered in true 1080 back in its day so the only change is resolution and fps the remastered just shows the original beauty for what it truly was meant to be shown at if hardware wasn't an issue back then.
The MCC version had improved anti-aliasing, but that hardly justifies the existence of this vid.
Should I Buy the MCC or by the original disks backwards compatibility
It's the same just some improvements on the resolution, the original was sub HD 1152x640, the "Remastered" is just 1920x1080p native, no other difference.
umm lets wait until 2017 so that the fully remastered version is released
Did it come out yet?
how about now?
I really wish they remastered halo 3 like they did with halo 2, halo 2 looks soo good now.
Remastered is only improve HD Texture and does not improve the environment?
That's really a little mistake
I would hardly class this as a remaster so much as a touch up its like the difference between a 780p and a 1080p video there's a enough to notice a little but if you never told anyone about it I don't think many people would have noticed
Literally no change but the brightness..
Looks a lot cleaner and crisper. The contrast and colors could be improved simply by adjusting your monitor
I don’t know why they titled the video “remastered”, it’s literally the same game rereleased in a collection on newer consoles. The real Halo 3 anniversary sadly never came out.
Halo 2 Anniversary was made from scratch for the MCC, and Halo CE Anniversary was given minor enhancements.
I just realised Sgt Johnson is smoking a fat one, "then they must love the smell of green" haha fuck man 10 years later.
Just got the Master Chief Collection
Was surprised Halo 3 didn't get much of a remaster. Especially after the insane buff Halo 2 got
Does anybody knows the name of the song at 0:47 I like it!
It's just generic copyright-free music from the RUclips library, I think... :/
basically like upgrading your pc and going from medium visuals to high visuals in settings. cool
It's slightly brighter? It really looks like they didn't have to enhance very much at all. Original still looks good after nearly 13 years
The only difference is the resolution and a little bit of the lighting but that's it.
The original Halo 3 had so much better saturation. But many will only notice the resolution in MCC has been upscaled, which may appeals more than the saturation level.
lets be real. we all remember how 'remastered' looks now as how it looked back in the day.
Okay, i will have to say while i can make out the slight improvements it is HARDER to spot the better graphics when everything is shown from either different angles or in one of the forms the figure is covered in shadow.
Wow, Halo 3 still having nice graphics.
Um
What’s the difference again?
Looks like they turned on lightbake for all objects. Anyone get the forge reference?
what happened to the shaders of Remastered...
I can feel more shaders in the original
