Hey dude thanks for this video. I remember coming home from school in 2012 and my dad installing Minecraft for me on my Xbox. He was mad because the game was download only which is something we both hated. Looking back that was definitely for the best because my best memories were the survival only splitscreen and making my home in caves.
Yeah it's always good when you can go back and see things exactly as they were. Becoming more and more rare now with every game having a million updates. Doing this same thing with the Xbox One version is a pain!
I can’t thank you enough for this video, worked in dec 2024 but the site has up to TU73, which is what I installed. I played Minecraft with my friends religiously from when it came out til 2016 or so. Recently I tried accessing the worlds and the game was on TU0 and super bugged out; wouldn’t load any worlds and mobs textures are messed up if I created a world. This worked and I’m able to reminisce on all my world worlds I’ve put hundreds of hours into with my old buddies. Thanks again

Thanks a lot, I remember spending a ton of hours on TU5 with my cousins, even if the End wasn't implemented yet we had fun finding the stonghold and building a lot of original stuff on Creative, gosh the memories are so fantastic, I also remember when those versions of the game had the Super Meat Boy skin which was later removed from the game, I assume for licensing issues or something
Yo nice video, I use xenia canary to emulate MC 360 on PC and works like a charm especially if you edit the toml file remove the tearing and upscale the resolution and put the FPS limit to 120 or higher it will run at higher refresh rate and looks super smooth I have it 165 as I have a 165hz monitor and it runs at 165fps. I was downloading each TU before i realized I only needed the TU I wanted, fortunately I had only downloaded 10 or so. I was trying to figure out how to manually update my app on XBOX360. I turned it on for the first time in 3 years so my 7 yo could play it but when it opened it wanted an update but it gave an error. I moved the original TU1 to my flash drive and then started the app to see if it would update and it began the download so I really didn't need it however I may end up reverting to an earlier update so that I can play TU9-TU1 depending on if I'm happy with TU75 or not. I'm on Minecraft Downloaded Edition

It works, but the tutorial world isn’t there, is there a reason why? I had the game when it originally came out, so for the tutorial world not to be there is odd. My version should work. I don’t have the disk, I have it digital. Idk why I can’t have the original tu1 world.
tysm this worked. wanted to get it cus my consoled glitched everytime i tried to get tu75 the normal way. though unfortunately i forgot to copy my terraria saves of the usb stick i was using but i dont mind cus it just means i get to play more old terraria now all my characters are gone
Would this work to get dlc's and skin packs with a modded xbox since they are shutting down the store? I never got the chance to buy skin pack 1 before they removed the ability to buy it due to the licensing for some of the collaboration skins expiring.

Please help why does my game keep crashing? I've searched for weeks and I cant find anyone else having this issue. I want to play the day 1 launch version with no updates installed at all, so I deleted the title update and launched the game with the console offline and every time I try to create a world or play the tutorial level it crashes every time. The world doesn't even load, the whole console just freezes during the loading screen and I have to hard reset. And I am NOT trying to load any existing worlds because I have a fresh 0 saves. This keeps happenning with BOTH the downloaded version AND the disc version. So I'm unable to play. And I can't find any help anywhere. Please help.

can these worlds bs imported to xbox one edition and played in xbox one edition, as there is a world i love playing on 360 (has 65+ spawners) but on xbox one there is a lot less (arond 25).
Yeah it's possible providing you have 'Minecraft Xbox One Edition'. If it's just 'Minecraft' on your XB1 then it won't work, you specifically need 'Xbox One Edition'. They don't sell it anymore so you will need to find a disc version if you don't have it. You obviously need to have an Xbox 360 + Minecraft as well as you need to upload the world from that console first.

@@jameshhilton You upload your world via the 360 then on xb1 you sync your world. You can even bring it into 1.20 as well coz you can then further sync it on current bedrock.
Back up your old worlds by copying them to a usb stick or something before you start switching TU's. As soon as you start playing/saving on a newer TU in theory, that means you can't go back to an older TU on that same world. You can try but weird things might happen like chunks being regenerated or it might just not load at all depending on the changes that were made to world gen on newer updates.

When I did this as soon as I opened Minecraft, it wanted me to connect to Xbox live I obviously didn’t because it wanted me to update it also so then when I pressed play Minecraft, the screen that usually loads and then shows me all my worlds it instead it crashed on the loading screen
This is the same problem as other people have had here in the comments. If you have ANY dlc from a NEWER version of the game than the one you are trying to play then it will crash. Copy/delete the dlc.
Hey, I seem to have a problem with my disc version, when I delete the TU it puts me to TU9, but the problem is, when I try to create a world or play the tutorial world, it freezes the whole Xbox 360, and I’m not sure how to fix it, I tried playing with internet, without internet, and I’m completely stuck with only playing the recent version, if you know a solution, I would appreciate it!
If you have any dlc (skins etc) that came out AFTER the TU you are trying to use, the console will freeze because the game doesn't know what to do with it. You will need to remove (copy off or delete) the newer content. Also, the lowest version of the game you can go to with the disc version is TU9 as that is what the disc version was when it came out.
Hello! I recently bought a second hand Xbox and used Minecraft Disc and only seem to get the old version of the game. I believe it’s TU-9, yet I want to access later versions of the game. Like TU-70 or something. Given that Xbox Live servers are now down. Will this still work ???

hey im having an issue where no matter how much i delete files or reinstall i get forced onto what seems to be TU6 like even the xbox menu knows about a bunch of new achievements n such. when i check storage its the 114mb game and 3mb title update i want for TU4 but im having no luck. i can go forward in versions but not further back despite being a digital copy that has played TU4 back in 2012. any suggestions for fixes? update: ok its 6am now but turns out deleting cache files and actually going through and using the proper clear option is what made the difference. keeping this comment here in case others have the same issue. thanks for the video again anyways im going to bed now ROFL
One small problem ive encountered... I tried to do TU67, but when i booted up the game (and ofc skipped the update) I was in TU0 .-. And on top of that, i was in the trial version.. a solution would be greatly appreciated 👍
Update: I managed to get to TU67! But I'm still in the trial version... I have indeed tried the solution you've said in the other comments (aka redownloading) but it didn't work..
Have you tried completely deleting the game and redownloading through your purchase history? You'll be the first person I've heard of that this hasn't worked.
@overcrumbled well, I actually got it to work yesterday :D I think I didn't do the solution you posted in the replies of the comments entirely right... I was re-downloading minecraft, but I guess I had to perform a license transfer too :p after the transfer, it works fine ^-^ Thx for the tutorial man 👍

If you're connected to Xbox Live (the console is connected to the internet) it will always prompt for an update if the game version isn't TU75. You have to select cancel, which will then sign you out of XBL. You cannot play an older version of the game while connected online.
You might have the same problem as someone else in the comments. I'd recommend finding the comment with 10 replies and reading through that. You'll probably need to redownload the game via your history to restore the game licence 👍
@@overcrumbled so I redownloaded minecraft via my history after I uninstalled it from my console and deleted everything, but it still says unlock full game. I had to boot it up before I could uninstall the title update though so maybe that bugged it? Or could it be my Xbox?
Something weird is going on then coz you're the first person I've heard of that doing the redownload from history hasn't worked at restoring the licence. Possibly a stupid question: are you 100% certain you redownloaded the actual purchased FULL game and not the XBL Arcade trial/demo?
Sounds like a licence issue. Using the account that bought it originally, sign into xbox live on the 360 and go to the account settings > download history. Find the game and then redownload it (you will need to delete the game that is installed already - check to see if Minecraft is in your download history first!).

The base game download from xbl is 1.0? I don't know what to suggest, I've never heard of this and can't find anything from searching online. You should have the base game download like I do in the video and nothing else, then copy/apply the title update of your choice.
So you can't play TU-14 on the disk version because TU-9 is burned on the disk correct? Because I have the disk version. And if I have to download the digital copy I'll have to do it before July 29th because Microsoft is ending their support for the 360.

I've replied to your other comment. Xbox Live is still up, it's just the Marketplace/Store that has been shut down. Your worlds will be small on the 360 all the time, newer updates do not make the 360 version have larger worlds. The limit on 360 is 862x862 worlds.
for some reason it only shows as the demo version when im playing on older versions, but on the latest update it works fine. any ideas? i tried redownloading minecraft and it still does it.
Try doing a licence transfer to that console. Settings > Account > Billing > Transfer. This will transfer ALL licences for everything you've ever bought to that specific console.
I take it you mean using a hdd instead of a usb stick? It will work with any storage device provided the 360 recognises it and you format it using the console itself: support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/xbox-360/accessories/using-usb-flash-drive

Thanks for your reply! No it's not a zip file. On the archive page, I go over to the right, click on show all files, then I click on TU73 (I've tried others too), it then shows tu0000001 (1.3gb) I click on that and it downloads, takes quite a while. Then in my download folder, I'm stuck with this file, when I open it, it says open with notepad? When I drag it to Horizon, it says to extract all, I clicked that to see what happens, it extracts skins, sounds etc but that's it. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong?
Right, I've just watched that part of the video back. I don't drag and drop the file straight into Horizon, if you do that it will not work. I drag and drop onto my desktop and then using Horizon I inject that file into Horizon from my desktop using the interface of the Horizon program. Watch it back and do EXACTLY what I do, I did it that way for a reason! 😁 Let me know how you get on 👍
I've just tried that, thank you. The file is in my desktop, on Horizon I've clicked inject to new file but it won't do anything. I think I might know what the problem is??? Horizon isn't recognising my usb stick. It keeps saying make sure I'm running Horizon as an administrator. I've changed my settings and now running as administrator and I've disabled my anti virus. Still the same. I might have to give up! Or I'll drive you mad 🫤
All you need to do to run Horizon as an Administrator is right click on the program and select 'run as administrator'. Are you 100% certain that you have followed my WHOLE tutorial exactly? You have right clicked the folder where you have downloaded the update files and made sure they are NOT checked as 'read only'? If they are read only it will not work.
Licence issue. If you own the full game digitally then go through your purchase history on the console and redownload it through there which should issue a licence for the game to that console to allow it to be played offline.
No this doesnt work with the xb1. Theroretically the process is similar but you need to use apps that aren't available to download anymore from the xbox store.
Have you tried injecting it into a different storage device like the hard drive / redownload the TU/ download a different TU to make sure it's not the file itself?
The Minecraft game will only have disappeared if you have accidentally deleted it along with the title update. Go into your account history on the console and redownload the game or go to the store page and redownload it through there.
When you open the page on the right hand side next to the description is a box with things like zip, torrent etc which are links. Or you can just drill down into it and just download the specific update you're looking for.
Does the game say it's the trial version/ asking you to buy the full game? If so, you're either not playing the game with the account that bought it or you're not playing on the console that it was bought on originally.

OK. So you're not playing on the console that you bought it on originally. You NEED to be playing on the gamertag that bought it originally & you NEED to be connected to Xbox Live or what I'm going to tell you will NOT work! Go into the system settings, account, account history. Scroll through your account history until you find Minecraft. Redownload it. It will restore the licence for the game to the Xbox 360 you are using now.
im having a hard time downloading the archived versions, everytime I click on download it just takes me to an image of the xbox 360 title screen and thats it or it says "total size of requested files (54 GB) is too large for zip-on-the-fly", any help on how to download the archived files?
Click 'Show All Files' - Click 'Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition TUs' - Click on the TU you want to download - Click on the file name (letters and numbers), that is the title update. Don't mess with it, don't rename it or anything. Follow my tutorial EXACTLY and it will work.
Tbh I'm not sure, I've never tried it on Playstation. I know it works on Xbox One but on the Xbox you need to basically backdoor your way into the Xbox One file system using file explorer programs that you can download via the Xbox app store. Can you access the equivalent on the PS4?
It's not really viable to do on the Xbox One edition, it's not as simple to do as the 360 version and I'm not even sure if the program you need is even still available to download on the Xbox. You can't manage files the same way on XB1 as you could on the 360..
What happends with the game if you don't have the console connected to xbox live? So I mean have all options for the console to connect to the internet removed (wifi settings deleted / ethernet cable removed).

The update you may be trying to download might be modified. Unfortunately in my case i wanted TU68 which was the last update before the Update Aquatic, and i had the same issue. The reason was that it had been modified and there is currently not an unmodified version of that.
@@LiterallyLuxxz Sorry if I'm a little late but the: "modified versions" like TU 68 are not the unmodified for regular consoles. Modified is for the modded Xbox 360's with emulators. If your 360 isn't modded or have an emulator then that TU file will not work.
No you can't, because title updates are free to download xbox live. This is just installing the TU's in another way. But if you pirate games or get DLC, then for sure, you will get banned.

1.0 is literally just Minecraft 360 edition with no updates applied. Like the base download from xbox live is 1.0. You delete the live update downloaded to your console, stay offline and that is 1.0

I have no idea. I don't have a modded 360. I'd assume it would work the same way. This method would work with the skin packs that were free.

I have a question, what would happen to your saved worlds after the downgrade?

I did this with a different method but when I went to TU1 it worked but still had mechanics leftover from TU5+ like hunger and running.
You're not running TU1 then. You don't get mechanics left over if you do it properly, it's a different version of the game.
Hey, I seem to have a problem with my disc version, when I delete the TU it puts me to TU9, but the problem is, when I try to create a world or play the tutorial world, it freezes the whole Xbox 360, and I’m not sure how to fix it, I tried playing with internet, without internet, and I’m completely stuck with only playing the recent version, if you know a solution, I would appreciate it!
If you have any dlc (skins etc) that came out AFTER the TU you are trying to use, the console will freeze because the game doesn't know what to do with it. You will need to remove (copy off or delete) the newer content. Also, the lowest version of the game you can go to with the disc version is TU9 as that is what the disc version was when it came out.
Oh that explains it, I do have some dlcs, so can I just copy them to some other device and delete them so that I don’t lose them?

Hello! I recently bought a second hand Xbox and used Minecraft Disc and only seem to get the old version of the game. I believe it’s TU-9, yet I want to access later versions of the game. Like TU-70 or something.

The Xbox 360 store has been closed, Xbox Live still works. But this method doesn't require Xbox Live, so yes it will work.

hey im having an issue where no matter how much i delete files or reinstall i get forced onto what seems to be TU6 like even the xbox menu knows about a bunch of new achievements n such. when i check storage its the 114mb game and 3mb title update i want for TU4 but im having no luck. i can go forward in versions but not further back despite being a digital copy that has played TU4 back in 2012. any suggestions for fixes?
update: ok its 6am now but turns out deleting cache files and actually going through and using the proper clear option is what made the difference. keeping this comment here in case others have the same issue. thanks for the video again anyways im going to bed now ROFL
One small problem ive encountered... I tried to do TU67, but when i booted up the game (and ofc skipped the update) I was in TU0 .-. And on top of that, i was in the trial version.. a solution would be greatly appreciated 👍
Update: I managed to get to TU67! But I'm still in the trial version... I have indeed tried the solution you've said in the other comments (aka redownloading) but it didn't work..
Have you tried completely deleting the game and redownloading through your purchase history? You'll be the first person I've heard of that this hasn't worked.

If you're connected to Xbox Live (the console is connected to the internet) it will always prompt for an update if the game version isn't TU75. You have to select cancel, which will then sign you out of XBL. You cannot play an older version of the game while connected online.

You might have the same problem as someone else in the comments. I'd recommend finding the comment with 10 replies and reading through that. You'll probably need to redownload the game via your history to restore the game licence 👍

Something weird is going on then coz you're the first person I've heard of that doing the redownload from history hasn't worked at restoring the licence. Possibly a stupid question: are you 100% certain you redownloaded the actual purchased FULL game and not the XBL Arcade trial/demo?

Sounds like a licence issue. Using the account that bought it originally, sign into xbox live on the 360 and go to the account settings > download history. Find the game and then redownload it (you will need to delete the game that is installed already - check to see if Minecraft is in your download history first!).

The base game download from xbl is 1.0? I don't know what to suggest, I've never heard of this and can't find anything from searching online. You should have the base game download like I do in the video and nothing else, then copy/apply the title update of your choice.

Yeah but you can only go down to TU9 with the disc. You cannot do TU1-8

So you can't play TU-14 on the disk version because TU-9 is burned on the disk correct? Because I have the disk version. And if I have to download the digital copy I'll have to do it before July 29th because Microsoft is ending their support for the 360.
No, you can play anything AFTER TU9, you cannot go LOWER than TU9 with the disc version.

I've replied to your other comment. Xbox Live is still up, it's just the Marketplace/Store that has been shut down. Your worlds will be small on the 360 all the time, newer updates do not make the 360 version have larger worlds. The limit on 360 is 862x862 worlds.

Try doing a licence transfer to that console. Settings > Account > Billing > Transfer.
This will transfer ALL licences for everything you've ever bought to that specific console.

I take it you mean using a hdd instead of a usb stick? It will work with any storage device provided the 360 recognises it and you format it using the console itself:

Is the file you downloaded a .7z file? If so, you need a free program called 7zip to open it.
Thanks for your reply! No it's not a zip file. On the archive page, I go over to the right, click on show all files, then I click on TU73 (I've tried others too), it then shows tu0000001 (1.3gb) I click on that and it downloads, takes quite a while. Then in my download folder, I'm stuck with this file, when I open it, it says open with notepad? When I drag it to Horizon, it says to extract all, I clicked that to see what happens, it extracts skins, sounds etc but that's it. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong?
Right, I've just watched that part of the video back. I don't drag and drop the file straight into Horizon, if you do that it will not work. I drag and drop onto my desktop and then using Horizon I inject that file into Horizon from my desktop using the interface of the Horizon program. Watch it back and do EXACTLY what I do, I did it that way for a reason! 😁 Let me know how you get on 👍
I've just tried that, thank you. The file is in my desktop, on Horizon I've clicked inject to new file but it won't do anything. I think I might know what the problem is??? Horizon isn't recognising my usb stick. It keeps saying make sure I'm running Horizon as an administrator. I've changed my settings and now running as administrator and I've disabled my anti virus. Still the same. I might have to give up! Or I'll drive you mad 🫤
All you need to do to run Horizon as an Administrator is right click on the program and select 'run as administrator'. Are you 100% certain that you have followed my WHOLE tutorial exactly? You have right clicked the folder where you have downloaded the update files and made sure they are NOT checked as 'read only'? If they are read only it will not work.

Licence issue. If you own the full game digitally then go through your purchase history on the console and redownload it through there which should issue a licence for the game to that console to allow it to be played offline.

No this doesnt work with the xb1. Theroretically the process is similar but you need to use apps that aren't available to download anymore from the xbox store.

The Minecraft game will only have disappeared if you have accidentally deleted it along with the title update. Go into your account history on the console and redownload the game or go to the store page and redownload it through there.

Does the game say it's the trial version/ asking you to buy the full game? If so, you're either not playing the game with the account that bought it or you're not playing on the console that it was bought on originally.

OK. So you're not playing on the console that you bought it on originally. You NEED to be playing on the gamertag that bought it originally & you NEED to be connected to Xbox Live or what I'm going to tell you will NOT work!
Go into the system settings, account, account history. Scroll through your account history until you find Minecraft. Redownload it. It will restore the licence for the game to the Xbox 360 you are using now.

You have to either download it via torrent or click through and download specific TU's individually.

Click 'Show All Files' - Click 'Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition TUs' - Click on the TU you want to download - Click on the file name (letters and numbers), that is the title update. Don't mess with it, don't rename it or anything. Follow my tutorial EXACTLY and it will work.

Tbh I'm not sure, I've never tried it on Playstation. I know it works on Xbox One but on the Xbox you need to basically backdoor your way into the Xbox One file system using file explorer programs that you can download via the Xbox app store. Can you access the equivalent on the PS4?

It's not really viable to do on the Xbox One edition, it's not as simple to do as the 360 version and I'm not even sure if the program you need is even still available to download on the Xbox. You can't manage files the same way on XB1 as you could on the 360..

100% back them up before loading worlds in older versions of the game or you will mess them up.

What is the exact (word for word) error message that you're getting?
The update you may be trying to download might be modified. Unfortunately in my case i wanted TU68 which was the last update before the Update Aquatic, and i had the same issue. The reason was that it had been modified and there is currently not an unmodified version of that.
@@LiterallyLuxxz Sorry if I'm a little late but the: "modified versions" like TU 68 are not the unmodified for regular consoles. Modified is for the modded Xbox 360's with emulators. If your 360 isn't modded or have an emulator then that TU file will not work.

DO NOT DO THIS WITH REALLY OLD VERSIONS. A 1.0.0 version can go for up to $200
1.0 is literally just Minecraft 360 edition with no updates applied. Like the base download from xbox live is 1.0. You delete the live update downloaded to your console, stay offline and that is 1.0
