Yk, I find it funny how I get that game + a Wii U gifted to me by my boyfriend the exact day you release this video, and it’s certainly an interesting version.
I remember a few years back when the Mario Mash up pack was still new, my brother and I were getting ready to play and somehow I was able to play on the gamepad while he got the full TV screen. It was a pretty cool bug that I only recall happening once :(

I played this game nonstop when I had it, I made a lot of friends but the sad thing is that we all eventually fell to the "Last online 7 years ago."

Yeah, I have a full friends list on Wii U and every now and then I'll boot it back up to see only one person out of the 100 that still even plays.

Minecraft on Wii U nowadays is full of modders due to the fact that the Wii U has no moderation.
Same! Wii U edition may be…interesting but it’s my favorite.
fun fact: there is no commands in this version, you had you use "host privileges" which is a menu with buttons to change the time and weather and stuff, this also means there was no command block, barrier, and structure blocks, but some people could hack them in to a world
There are actually, but you'll need to mod your game for it. (It's also not used with a command block.)
Same applies for all legacy versions, so most people know already.
I remember going into a hacked world and seeing a Barrier block for the first time.

That would also apply to the Xbox One Edition since both have a limited world size, making woodland structures generate closer, unlike bedrock or any more other version of minecraft which either have a larger world or infinite generation.

I never thought anyone would acknowledge this versions existence, let alone make a whole video on it! I appreciate you for bringing this into the spotlight. This version defined my childhood! I always wanted to own Minecraft but never had a fancy PC to run it or an Xbox to play it on console but then came along Minecraft Wii U edition! Finally, a version for a console I actually owned and with a Mario Mash-Up Pack too?! It made my eyes sparkle and I remember convincing my grandpa to buy it for me behind my mom's back because I NEEDED IT lol. Anyway, it was probably the best buy of my life because the memories made on there were immeasurable. Meeting all sorts of people, roleplaying with friends, and rage quitting the minigames were just some of the many things I did on there! Heck! There are still aspects from that game that still stick with me to this day! I made a minigame world called "Minecraft Arcade" which I've continued to reiterate on, even now! I've even made a couple friends through it too that I still keep up with. Every now and then I'll go boot up my old Wii U and feel a little saddened by the fact that there is only one kid from a full friends list that still rarely plays but I'm happy for the memories it made!

This was the first version of minecraft me and my bro played... the nostalgia is unreal, we had this world called "My lab world" and we did everything in it! but unfortunatly we lost that world somehow and then our wii u broke down :( I have huge respect for that version
i have so many memories with this game, i grew up playing it with my brother. one thing i wish you did was play the minecraft battle mini games. because alot of wii u players actually still play the mini games

I litterally played Minecraft Wii U edition for about 7 years before I switched to the nintendo switch and eventually Windows 10, but the reason I had stayed on the WiiU for so long was 3 simple reasons:
1: In Game Voice Chat- This feture was probably the most important, as it built friendships that I am still in today. I remember hopping onto battle lobbies and just meeting new people and friending them. That was so fun.
2: All my worlds and friends were on there- After the aquatic update, where the Wii U stayed as legacy, I didn't know how to transfer worlds, and the friends that I had stayed on Wii U so there was no point.
3: It was Legacy Console- In my opinion, legacy console edition was the best version / versions to ever exist. They were perfect. They litterally had both Java and Bedrock fetures combined with fun minigames you couldn't get anywhere else. It had Java redstone which is superior, and had bedrock exclusive fetures like potions in cauldrons and had a really easy friend request system. The perfect version.
I also remember modding the game so I had custom skins, and I made a skin on the Wii U that is still my main skin today, a nether creture with a tuxedo. When I modded the game, I also had some fun times in battle servers just like building a house or making a staircase out of bounds so people could explore. I almost never modded the game to win a bunch of matches and make people mad. Modding Wii U also gave me Nuker, which is basically a bare-bones World Edit, so I made crazy things with it like a massive volcano. There was so much more I did with modding the game, and I really want to go back to that feeling of showing my friends custom potions I made, and getting cursed blocks.
However nothing lasts forever. In 2020, I tried to log onto my Wii U and the gamepad was acting weird. None of the buttons worked, and the touchscreen was unresponsive. It is still like that today. I have never been able to go on my Wii U ever since, and tell my friends what happened. My profile is still the same as it was 3 years ago, and it still says "last offline over a month ago" If I can, I would do anything to go back in time to the good days when I would hop on the Wii U, join my friends world, and just have a fun time. But those times are over, and if anyone knows how I may fix my gamepad problem, please reply with a possible solution. Whenever I see someone go back onto legacy console, the nostalgia kicks in to when I was playing battle with my friends or playing one of my minigames in my large minigame world. as someone who had a wii u and got minecraft in February 2016 during my middle school days and put in countless hours doing stupid funny things with people. I can confidentaly say, this version is a MASTERPIECE FOR ONE REASON ONLY, this game has built in voice chat using the gamepad. No other wii u game had built in voice chat (i could be wrong). But i have so many memories of so many great friends i made on this game. I played this so much in 2016 and 2017. Its apart of me now. (the wii u is my left leg now)

It was my first version of Minecraft, I used to play it with my brother all the time
It wasn't my first but I did play it a lot, it was great since you could always play with strangers and the gamepad had a built in mic.
Here's a bit of an odd story, but one time I randomly went on the Mii Streetpass Plaza on the 3DS this year, and surprisingly, ONE PERSON showed up at my plaza out of the blue, and just waltzed in.
I wasn't expecting one person to still be active on such a backwater and obscure means of online interaction 💀

Thanks for talking about this edition! Personally, this is the version I've always played on, and even though the limited worlds, lack of controls, and stop updating the game, the performance is EXTREMELY better than the Switch by example, and the render distance is also very good

Nah, the performance is about the same as the Switch legacy edition. I assume you're talking about the Bedrock version tho which in that case you're right, but that's basically a completely different game.

I played this game so many times as a kid with my friends from school, it was either we built houses in creative or tried to survive in survival, it was all super fun. It was sad when I realized that updates stopped and we had to play on 1.13 but although that’s not that old it just brings make so many memories, and the background music totally fulfills to be in a special part of my childhood. And not to mention, the worlds that you can create, my favorite was the Fallout world, at that time I never played Fallout but my brother loved it so we played it always. I loved this game and I still have it laying around on my shelf in my room.

DUDE I used to play this version so much when I was younger. I remember making a skywars map--which was literally a bunch of rectangles since I've never been a good builder--and getting a friend of mine from Miiverse to see it. I started a few multiplayer survival worlds--again, with Miiverse friends--and we got pretty far in one of them. I got addicted to the battle mode and became pretty good at it. I even tried glide on my own and became a pro at the only three free maps because I was broke and could never buy any.
I genuinely have so many fond memories of the Wii U Edition, it was essentially my version of the Xbox 360 Edition at the time because my family never owned Minecraft on an Xbox. I haven't played on my Wii U in years man, this vid brought back so much nostalgia for me

This was my first Minecraft version other than pocket edition. I have so many memories of it. The Mario Pack was awesome, I remember starting a survival world on it and me and my siblings got so overpowered by all the structures and the diamond blocks in Delphino plaza
I was an cabochon gamer, I got a wii u in January, got Minecraft and went into the festive world. No it wasn’t the same console, but the nostalgia was still there, I missed the console editions man…

When I was a kid, I owned a copy of this game.
Every time I watched a video about some sort of unbreakable bank or amazing redstone machine, I would try to recreate it in vanilla.
It's actually fun to just revisit and let my imagination run wild.

When I had a Wii U I bought Minecraft on the Wii U it definitely gave me nostalgic flashbacks of Minecraft of the 360.

i had gotten my wiiU in 2016, so i guess it was a year old. Minecraft was the one and only game i ever played on it, its where i got all my friends on it (and first love). I look at all the skins on modern Minecraft and know its just a remembrance of what it used to be, like how I’m staring at my friends avatar from the redstone skin-pack. I miss it, i really do. i had such a great time on it, especially after coming home from middle school after a long day, or sneaking to play it in the middle of the night. i wanna cry.

Not beeing able to use the gamepad in multiplayer is the worst decision they have made.
I actually once had a sleepover and i brought my wii u with 4 controllers + gamepad.
I tought we could play with 5 people but nooooo, one player always hat to wait.
But at least you can still block with a sword.
Edit: The voice chat was kinda fun too I guess. I think it's the only wii u game to support voice chat and random player matchmaking meaning you can just talk to random people.
Mario Kart 8 had voice chat, but it was only for the voting segment of an online match (In a friend room). Minecraft Wii U has a more open voice chat, since it's universal (As in usable in both minigames and worlds.)
Of course, this was my jam. Played this with my sisters all the time, flew through gliders with friends and snowball matches all the time. Survival battles online too! Crazy times
Me and my brother had a world where we built a bunch of stuff. I did my best to build a bunch of horror maps. I also loved playing the battle minigames. Those servers are actually still up, and it's been so much fun coming back to it just for that.

I still play Minecraft WiiU to this day and have found some glitches to share. In survival in swim mode in a 1x1 high tunnel you could block yourself into a single block using stone and you can sometimes see out of two sides of the blocks along with the ceiling which is transparent like usual when swimming up into it. By relogging you would teleport to the surface. Yesterday I was clearing a lava lake and found out you can collect it through a corner of a block. Signs reverted to censored a while ago on my world too. Bedrock is obtainable by spawning a bunch of snow golems then two sideways ones and a pumpkin on the other side of the bedrock. In creative water sources are obtainable via breaking a fence and pick blocking around the same time. When killing mobs in this version double enchantments like double FeatherfallingIV. You can also break the block beneath a pumpkin stem and it won’t break. You can make invisible bubble columns via non flowing water and dispensers. With a spawn egg enderman are spawnable under a block if there is air above that then another block and air and it will spawn in a block. Most wall mounts placeable before and therefore behind a painting. Pushing a rail onto air next to a rail a block below will lift it up diagonally. Both potion of luck and decay are in the creative menu. If you have a dispenser or dropper being burned by a piece of redstone and 3 torches and a lever for on/ off then paired with a crafting table when holding down a 9 item craft of the items being thrown you can dupe items like iron or wheat. Can get to roof by tall boat and can move by minecart and can break by tnt and get down by chorus fruit. Maybe possible to get water source by breaking seagrass super fast. Also most farm distances are changed because spawn/visible range is different from other mobs. The controls say it is 1.12 but it is 1.13 . When depositing lava on the ground where an entity is in flowing water, the lava disappears. When crouching through a portal you will be able to place things like hoppers without interacting. Fish farms work. In creative you can enchant anything with whichever enchantments, making a knockback flame apple for example. Mobs in boats or minecarts despawn unless named

I still play this version currently daily yes I have a PC strong enough too play bedrock and java at very good performance and have those versions.
I remembered that me and other people would create are own mini-games servers for people to play. It was so awesome, I remember making skywars but I had to teleport the players to their starting cages and I used daylight sensors to release them and start the game. So many memories.
I remember it since it was my first console edition of Minecraft. I had Java but non of my friends could do local co-op until I got the Wii U version.

The Minecraft WiiU community is still fairly big and its growing a lot with Cemu now also they got working commands now its pretty cool
Ooooh boy, now this was a treat! I remember playing this back in t he day with my siblings, we had fun with our survival worlds, and I remember our most promissing world was everyone living in a woodland mansion. We also enjoyed the side modes that came with it, those being battle, glide, and spleef.
But alas, as time went on, we went our seperate ways as we transitioned to the Switch version, and the Wii U was lost...
Also the moddifier packs were fun to explore, like the greek mythology one or the adventure time pack.

I was so excited for this version of minecraft, at the time I only had a wii u, a 3ds, a wii, and a ipad. I was waiting for a damn port of the game, i asked multiple game stop employees, until i saw the announcement for the wii u port, I was so excited for the game that i pre ordered the game, when i got the game 2 days after the game launch I spent hours on the wii u version until my disc broke and i didn’t get to play the game for five years, and i recently bought the digital version and i still love it.

Minecraft wii u is probably the most important game in my life, since it let me meet some great friends that i still talk to to this day. Booting the game up today just makes the good memories from 2016 flood back, being excited for the console minigames and messing around on my friends' worlds.
This brought so many memories back even though I still play it, I remember coming home from school and getting on to play with my cousins and brothers, it would’ve been cool if there was cross play for minecraft on 3ds
Minecraft on XBOX 360 was the first version of Minecraft I ever played. Eventually, my older cousin bought me Minecraft on the Wii U.
For the next few years I made creative mode builds with a friend from school. We created a hotel, a restaurant and some roads, almost like a city. My friend and I had hours and hours of fun and always called on Wii Chat. I remember just waiting for the blue circle to light up on the gamepad’s home button (this indicates a call or notification, and, in this case, it would be coming from my friend).
After Nintendo released their new console, the Nintendo Switch, they eventually made it clear that Miiverse and other social apps on the Wii U, including Wii Chat, would be shut down.
My friend and I abandoned our Minecraft server. Not being able to communicate to each other through the Wii U felt so betraying.
The Wii U as a whole was not an awful console, but it wasn’t really anything too special, even at the time of its release. The Nintendo Switch improved on basically everything; games, handling, menu, communications, and so on. But the Wii U still created so many memories for me and my friends.
After over 7 years, I still have the Minecraft world. I also still talk with my friend.
When i got my wii u back in 2016 when i was 6 it came with minecraft wii u edition and it came with all the packs, i absolutely GOD DAMN LOVED IT (it was my first experience of minecraft at the time then after this i played on the 360 edition which was the same expect with less dlc). AND THE MINIGAMES SERVERS ARE STILL UP WITH PLAYERS!
i played the wii u version of minecraft (and black ops 2 lmao) everyday for like 2 years straight. some of my best childhood memories and some of the coolest people i met online was during that time, all of those people are now "last online 6 years ago" but it is what it is i guess
still kinda hoping i can get a chance to talk to some of those people at some point as they basically saved my childhood while i was getting constantly bullied at school and by other kids in my neighborhood

This is the Minecraft I played, and my favorite part was definitely the enchants.
For the uninformed, you could stack enchantments as much as you wanted, and me and my brother would put knock back 2 on a raw steak like 273728 times, and you would send someone flying so far the game would bug out.
My heart sinks everytime I look at minecraft wii u, all the mini games and friends, eventually the friends were last online 10 years ago today, the maps were free, no need to spend money, great times at playing mini games and finding out there is the oldest map underneath the new map, abandoned, this gives me so much nostalgia it is making my heart sink
I have this edition of the game and it was my main experience with the console edition. I mainly got it for the splitscreen multiplayer since I was (and always will be) a Java player. It was a fun novelty, but I guess if I ever get the itch to play the Mario Mashup Pack I'll just use the Java port and use the Mario skin pack through Figura or something.
Actually, the Mario Mashup pack was the main thing I got out of the Wii U version - I did a one-man roleplay story (since I had no friends) involving Bowser destroying the Mushroom Kingdom by using TNT towers down to the bedrock layer as a way of destroying all the statues while the denizens of the kingdom fought back (all dying by the numbers as the prebuilt structures were all destroyed by TNT towers) until an ancient demon (represented by the Stronghold Overlord skin from the villains skin pack) upon the kingdom who turned it unto a dystopia as a ragtag group of minions tried to beat the demon - while there was always a simdgeon of hope that the world could be saved, nobody could ever face the overlord and were basically biding their time as sun never rose and the kingdom was cloaked in an eternal thunderstorm. Peach's Castle also got drowned in lava because of course it did.
I found minecraft through the Wii U. Has a special place in my heart forever. Found in 2016. Still play it to this day.
Wii U edition will always have a special part in my heart. I played this with my friend all the time. We not use the voice chat to talk while playing. it was so fun. (Btw I too am a huge nintendo nerd)
