I was in the similar boat as you when it comes to this movie. I grew up watching and enjoying “Spirited Away” as a kid, so that was my only frame of reference for Ghibli films at that point of my life. I remember seeing “Howl’s Moving Castle” playing on cable when I was a kid, but I couldn’t really get into it like “Spirited Away”. I think I was just too young to understand what was going on in the film. Sure enough, after finally watching “Howl’s Moving Castle” in its entirety almost 3 years ago as a young adult, I had a newfound appreciation for the film, Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. The feelings of insecurities felt by Sophie really resonated with me as someone who struggles with not feeling pretty enough, and seeing Sophie and Howl’s mutual love for each other blossom despite their flaws is really heartwarming to watch. I also have a bit of a crush on Sophie, too. 😏🫠🥰 Howl gets all the spotlight (understandable, though, as he is attractive), but I feel like the odd one out as a woman finding Sophie more attractive, LOL. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

I love this movie. I also got to read the book, and to be honest, they're so different, but i feel that they complete each other and are both incredible
