Michael was honing his dance moves for his solo career. I grew up on the Jackson Five and followed Michael through his Solo career. My kids once asked me "How do you know Michael so well?😂😂"
Nah, Michael was always a great dancer...do a RUclips search for stuff like Dancin Machine (when Mike was even younger than he was here) and you'll see what I'm saying.
Yes, MJ was the star for sure but don't discount ALL (6) the brothers. It was magic with all of them. They got plenty hits. Then the 3 sisters too obvi esp Janet.
@@SandraSealySeawomanBDS the whole family couldn’t compare to Michael at 6 YEARS OLD. Let that sink in. When Michael was 6 he was at his maximum potential. He was singing notes that were unheard of.
Before they were famous, my wife was in charge of the entertainment for a High School dance. The Jackson's of course lived in Gary, right next door to Hammond. My wife somehow knew about the Jackson's and booked them to play at the dance. If she had only known their future.
They were HUGE in the 70s. There used to be a great fan magazine aimed at black teens called "RIGHT ON!"' , and these brothers were featured in many of the issues. I was fortunate enough to see The J5 twice in the 70s. Great vibe!
R&B Soul music royalty right here at their best! If y’all haven’t jumped down the very deep Jackson 5/Jackson’s rabbit hole, you are in for a treat! You have the late 60’s, early 70’s, mid 70’s, late 70’s(here ), early 80’s and late 80’s. And all that doesn’t even include Micheal’s incredible legendary solo career (as a child, teen and adult, Jermaines legendary solo career, and of course Janet, Rebe and Latoya’s section. And even now Tito has released a few great solo albums recently..
I remember the Jackson 5 from my childhood and Michael was all of 4 feet tall. They even had a Saturday morning cartoon along with the Osmonds that we never missed! Simpler times and fond memories. PEACE!!!!!
Hi guys, I love the new picture wall behind you, it looks great. I also really liked this video, it brought happy tears to my eyes to see them all again and Michael so young and happy. His dancing in that video was joyous. I would love to hear more Jackson Five videos and songs. Michael was a super star indeed, but the stuff he did when he was in the Jackson Five should not be forgotten because they were absolutely amazing together.
This will always be one of my favorites by the Jacksons. The talent is just beyond. It just puts me in a good mood. Every time! Where have those days gone?
MJ was born to be in entertainer. As talented as his brothers are, they were just background when MJ performed. Brilliant! Janet happens to be an amazing performer, as well…
Jermaine had already left the “Jackson 5” in 1976 and was replaced by Randy (I think) .From 1976 onwards, they called themselves “The Jacksons” .As an FYI,the first concert I ever went to was The Jacksons concert when they did a 2 city performance in Trinidad 🇹🇹 back in 1978

My cousin who worked for CBS records back in the late 70’s sent me the album with this amazing hit when I was like 14 or 15. It’s one of my favorite songs by The Jackson’s.
Anything the Jacksons do or Michael Jackson or Janet Jackson or whatever freaking Jackson is truly unbelievable!!! I am obsessed with Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson, periodt!
We used to call him "little" Michael Jackson when he first performed and, even then, he had an amazing voice and stage presence..... We miss him so much!
I love this song, not so much all the lyrics. There was just something about the Jackson 5 and then add Michael. There's just no words. We witnessed such a special gift and the world just destroyed him but his fans kept him going on many levels.
This was recorded after four of the original Jackson 5 left Motown to gain greater creative control. Jermaine stayed behind because he was in the awkward position of being married to Motown president Berry Gordy Jr's daughter. He therefore embarked on a solo career there while the remaining brothers switched labels and drafted in youngest brother, Randy. Had this decision not been taken, it is doubtful Michael Jackson would ever have been given the opportunity to become the icon he developed into. Marvin Gaye and even Stevie Wonder had to threaten to run down their contracts before Gordy would allow them to make the music their hearts dictated. Just imagine, no Off the Wall, no Thriller, no What's Going On, no Talking Book, no Songs in the Key of Life. It doesn't bear thinking about! Curiously, although Blame It On The Boogie was written by Michael Jackson, he is an English songwriter who happened to share the King of Pop's name. He wrote the song with Stevie Wonder in mind but was persuaded to record it himself using the handle Mick Jackson. At around the same time, people from The Jacksons new label, Epic, were looking for material, heard Mick Jackson's original in Europe and took a recording back to the group, who liked it and were no doubt amused by the strange coincidence. Mick Jackson wasn't about to miss the opportunity to have The Jacksons record his song and its predictable popularity played a large part in the chart success of his own version.
my fave song of the Jackson Five. Their voices, harmonies, dancing all combined to make this a great song. This song was originally written and performed by a British group. You should listen to their version to see how the Jacksons made it into a great song
I loved the Jackson 5 who later became the Jackson’s, although I love all their music , this was my favorite time frame of the Jackson 5, they were all grown up here , young men at this time , Jermaine was not in the group, it was Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Michael, Randy. Jermaine was doing a solo career at that time and stay with Motown, he rejoined the group later on. check out : The video enjoy yourself, shake your body down to the ground & destiny, can you feel it, if you want to react : to their older music , start with their first song, I want you back & who loving you , I really enjoy both of you , I love ❤️ your reaction to our music
I love both this song, and this post -Motown, pre-Thriller era of The Jacksons and Michael Jackson's solo career (1975-1981). This song was from their "Destiny" album, which also had "Shake your Body (Down to the Ground), "All Night Dancing," and "Push me Away." You should also check out their "Triumph" album with the excellent tracks "Can you feel It," "Lovely One," "Time Waits for No One," and "Walk Right Now."
Jermaine Jackson was not in the Group he had going solo, this song I believe came out just before Michael went Solo with "Off The Wall" Album which made him a Superstar, then after Thriller he was a Mega Star and Icon...
There's a live version of this from London. I think his mother said Michael came out dancing and couldn't be still 😂, but she would wake him up from his bed or doing his homework and say that Jackie Wilson or James Brown was on TV and he couldn't take his eyes off them (hence new edition, Usher, NSYNC,and Backstreet Boys. So look up the live version of blame it on the boogie from London.
Always loved this song. And yes it was definitely a hit. I like the video cos it was before Michael started messing with cosmetic surgery. He was such a handsome young man, it's really very sad. 🎵❤🕺💃
Jermaine wasn't a member of the Jackson's he was a member of the jackson 5 Randy took his place in the jacksons The Jackson's is the name they had to change to after they left motown
The sad part is that people forget that there was a VERY GOOD reason why Michael became that legendary superstar, and it had nothing to do with autotune or a team writing all the songs and basically had him looking good on stage.
The next video you need to see from the Jackson5 is Dancing Machine from the Carol Burnett show. Michael invented the dance ,” The Robot” which evolved into pop and lock.
the one who was playing the guitar is Randy Jackson. Jermaine wasnt in the video because he was marry to Hazel Gordy the daughter of Motown founder Berry Gordy
Should obviously delve into more Jacksons but also Motown and early R&B and Soul music. Lots of great music and great artists often underappreciated and underestimated in their influence on music and other musicians.

Fun fact . Jermaine actually wasn’t on this record . He was replaced by the youngest brother Randy. By this time Jermaine he left Motown. Michael also went solo very shortly after this.
This song comes after their run as the Jackson 5. Jermaine didn't go with his brothers when they left motown to go to Epic records as they wanted to write and produce their own music. The Jackson playing the guitar is Tito. Jermaine plays bass and didn't rejoin his brothers until the victory album.
In 1975 The Jackson 5 wanted to leave Motown and sign up with Epic Records. Jermaine didn’t agree and on top of that he was married to Berry Gordy’s (boss of Motown) daughter, which put him in an awkward position. Jermaine stayed with Motown but since Motown owned the rights to their name they changed it to The Jacksons, and little brother Randy joined the group.
Gladys Knight sent a demo tape to Barry Gordy, but he rejected it. All the Jackson children were extremely talented, but there was no doubt who the "star" was, from the very beginning. Gone too soon, Michael.
