Imagine being 8 years old and seeing James Brown for the first time.......I hadn't seen anything like it!!! And James influenced the world of music....Every musician and artist wanted sing and perform like him.....but you know they couldn't......he is and was the Godfather of Soul!!!! And that's the facts.

That's what I felt listening to Michael Jackson for the first time at 7. But I hear that MJ himself was inspired by James Brown and listening to him I can see why, he's fantastic‼️

Michael?....Don't forget Prince! George Clinton and Parliament! The Gap Band! Musically, performance, lyrically, James Brown, and to a degree, Jackie Wilson too had a huge influence on music in general today especially when it comes to rock, soul, including rap and hiphop.

JB, the most important man musically in modern black music. No James Brown, no rap, and no funky R&B. James taught the world to hit that beat on the one.

Oh Shawn your reaction was so beautiful. Only real men love strong wives and are the center of their strong families. Your love for your family shines in your tears. I don't know about you but my husband Tony and I are at the same place our tears come now whether we like it or not. We have come to the conclusion that it is very freeing after a lifetime of holding them all in. Being able to express our hearts without shame is one of the perks of getting older. This was an especially emotional rendition of the song. James Brown really threw himself into that live performance. You guys are on a roll with your pics the last couple of weeks. They have been so good. PS. You sure look pretty today Mel, I like your hair fixed like that. The bangs really draw attention to your eyes :).

The one and only James Brown. No one like him then nor now. His influence is so huge. You guys should check out the video when Michael Jackson and Prince showed up to the same Brown show and were Invited in stage with James. Three musical geniuses and powerhouses as both Michael and Prince were highly influenced by Brown. The audition for Motown by the Jackson Five was if a young Michael singing and dancing to James Brown. James was truly electrifying.
