Having seen James Brown twice, I can confirm that he has "style", by the truck load. Before the first show we were speculating if he would bust out a cape. First song, the purple cape with the white interior, and sequins all over. Third song, another cape, fifth song another cape. And one at the encore. It's not a Man's World. It's James Brown's world, and Luciano Pavorotti's world too. RIP to both superstars.
Oh man. I was born in the wrong time. Never got to see JB live. But my older cuz saw the concert in NYC with BB King when Michael Jackson and Prince came on stage. RIP to all 5. The music legends and my cousin
That truly was amazing. I didn't know how it was going to work but it did. The respect between the two of them was visible and then the embrace at the end told it all.
James Brown is something else, his presence on stage and the way in which he commands that legendary recognizable voice of his is just amazing, truly one of a kind I can only imagine what it was like to see James Brown live
Same here. I saw him when he was in his 70s a few years before he passed and he was absolutely electrifying. He was probably only on stage for a total of 45 minutes, but they were all sizzle. His band was fantastic, and they made the whole show about 75 - 90 minutes long with their long intro and outro sequences. So glad I got to see him. One of the all time greats for sure.
Brad, you should see vintage James Brown with his amazing James Brown Band where he is doing all these dance moves and doing the splits while just singing like crazy. They didn't call him the Godfather of Soul for nothing. But yeah, the original definitely has the orchestra and everything in it. This was 100% the James Brown version and Pavarotti just worked into it perfectly. What a beautiful collaboration.
When I saw the thumbnail for this I thought "What?? This can't be a real thing!" But that was REALLY cool! Loved the mutual admiration they had for each other.
This is definitely a meeting of the Icons, doesn't matter that one is the Godfather of Soul, and the other is urguably the Greatest Tenor that ever lived, this is one for the ages,So Good.
Thank you, I didn't know how much I needed to see James's passion right now. Thank you James Brown, you are one of my soul brothers. You make my heart sing and feet dance Mr. Brown. Pavarotti was great too. Wow, his voice was amazing!
The huge amount of admiration and respect they have for each other that is just open and obvious despite being from two different styles is amazing. Also it worked very well. I wasn’t sure the first time watching but A+
I loved and still love James Brown.. I was a kid and my uncle had his first mono albums with the famous flames. As I got older I saw him a few times and had the opportunity to meet him and talk to him for a few minutes.. I never saw or met Pavarotti … I wish I had.
The original version has a string session and operatic/grandiose arrangement too. Most songs back then had real instruments and many times lush productions. There was a whole team of musicians creating pure magic.
Pavarotti did a good duet with Skin from Skunk Anansie of You Follow Me Down, check that out. In fact definitely react to some Skunk Anansie. I think Brad will love the singers voice and Lex will enjoy the music.
Great performance, one of the best. James Please Please Please is exceptional also. Christine Aguilera a top tier singer did a fantastic cover of It's a Man's World.
The orchestra is used even more in this version but the original does feature a string arrangement. Jazz and Soul are significantly related to Classical, Marching Band music and Opera.
Check out JB's "Prisoner of Love" of love for another example. A lot of Doo Woop and Early Rock was based off of classical motifs that became transposed to these styles. "Heart and Soul" is one example.
Yeah kids when I was around I don't know 8 years old I used to wait I had this little philco radio and I would just listen to that thing until Tucson's came on one that I waited for was The Troggs they did a song called wild thing and the other was Papa's Got a Brand New Bag by James Brown man I was already in the crossover. Way back then I mean here's this little Suburban white Punk Justine first or second grade and I'm listening to James Brown I'm digging it and of course I still do yep he was the hardest working man in Showbiz
Pavarotti's verse translated: Man runs the power but doesn't know great limits has to be how it will be done In his palm he holds an idea that doesn't live in his imagination… he wanted If you don't notice that then nothing makes sense if you live only for yourself There may a couple of errors in it!

I highly recommend Cecilia Bartoli, "Agitata da due venti." What she does with her voice here is unreal. Then try songs from her 1992 album If You Love Me.
Mr.Pavarotti was singing that "Nothing makes sense, when one lives only for themselves "

I got the privilege at Woodstock 99 and even at his age atm absolutely brilliant showman
That truly was amazing. I didn't know how it was going to work but it did. The respect between the two of them was visible and then the embrace at the end told it all.

Lucky enough to have seen James Brown in concert. He was older but still delivered. 👍❤🤙
Same here. I saw him when he was in his 70s a few years before he passed and he was absolutely electrifying. He was probably only on stage for a total of 45 minutes, but they were all sizzle. I got to see Pavorati back in the 90s. I regret I never saw James Brown live. This duet is sublime.

One of the coolest collabs I've ever seen! 👍
Pure genius........and that children is how its done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
James Brown was called the hardest working man in show business. You should watch more of him even if it's not for reactions.

James Brown, the hardest working Man in Show Business.
The original version has a string session and operatic/grandiose arrangement too. Most songs back then had real instruments and many times lush productions. There was a whole team of musicians creating pure magic.

Pavarotti was one of a kind. You should check you "Ave Maria" and "La Donna e mobile"
This is amazing!
Great choice!
Classic!! Pavoratti did duets with a lot of pop artists
James sang with orchestras as well. Orchestras are for any style of music. The timing is still the way James wrote the song.
Panis Angelicus
Sung by Luciano Pavarotti and Sting. Arguably best duo.
guys... James Brown & Pavarotti turn " A Mans World£ from a great song into a MEGA song - dont you agree
Pavarotti with Tracy Chapman and her song, " Baby can I Hold You".
Ooohhhh…..yeaaahh
The orchestra is used even more in this version but the original does feature a string arrangement. Jazz and Soul are significantly related to Classical, Marching Band music and Opera.

James Brown was the coldest.
That is so fantastic, in my opinion only equaled by stevie wonder and parotti performing together.
Brad if you interested in learning more about James Brown, check out his performance at The TAMI Show.
One of my favorites! Great reaction! But, tell me true anyone. What does a girl have to do to get The Year of the Cat on the ticket? LOL
Please react to some James Brown. You will love it
I highly recommend Cecilia Bartoli, "Agitata da due venti." What she does with her voice here is unreal. Then try songs from her 1992 album If You Love Me.
There's an orchestra in the original. You should give it a listen.
To me it was a little odd, but I enjoyed it anyway. Pavarotti sung with a lot of pop stars later in his career.
5/11/22, 7:30 p.m.
James has more teeth than the average man.
Brian Adams & Pavarotti
How bout that Bobby Brown singing with the great Man!
New to me!
