    How easy are these things to lift again afterwards? We are relaying laminate now but the carpet on the other side won't get renewed for 6 months or so.
    Previous thresholds have just been laminated paper board(?) and may be pulled out once or twice but with some risk of disintegration. This one has an aluminium bar, so it comes down more to the durability vs grip of the plastic studs.

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  Год назад +1

      Hi there, I would say not easy to lift up and replace again. I think I would recommend not putting in the plastic nails at this point and using silicone to secure it down. Then you can lift it and fit properly when carpet and laminate down ? Thanks

    When drilling into concrete is there any need to plug it? Or just straight in?

    I appreciate your video thanks. Question... How would you install it when one surface is higher than the other. Surely the screws won't angle the strip?

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Jonathan, apologies for not getting back sooner. If the angle is slight like between carpet and laminate, it would work. For larger differences this is not the product for that.

    Do you have to leave a 10mm gap between the middle of the threshold bar and the wood on laminate flooring? I'm about to lay my floor, but am not sure if the threshold bar will have an effect on the expansion and contraction. Many thanks!

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, sorry for super late reply, I’m sure it’s been fitted many months ago but I would place it equally between the 2 surfaces.

    I’m running laminate throughout my downstairs and have bought these strips for end profile use. So, front door, patio door …into concrete floor. I cannot understand the instructions. Please can you do a video talking me through that. It does say they have three uses…end profile, transition to different floor materials and different floor levels

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, I’m sorry for super late reply on this, notifications weren’t coming through. To answer your question when it comes to front door and patio door, I would prob not colour coordinate with the flooring. If you have white skirtings and white doors, I would use a pvc trim or white scotia to cover the gap. The finish in my opinion always looks better that way.

    Any tips for installing this where one side is laminate and the other is a large door frame threshold (almost like a plank of wood). Not sure whether to sit this on top of the laminate and the existing wooden doorway threshold or more over the laminate and just touching the edge of the door threshold

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  Год назад +2

      Hi Jack, if I understand you correctly there’s no way to establish 1 level between the new laminate floor and the existing threshold. If so, my initial thought is to install the floor as close as possible to the existing threshold and colour match caulk/seal up to it. Avoids the need for 2 thresholds and if colour matched, will blend in. This is presuming the floor is laid well and the planks terminate in the same place across the doorway. Hope that helps, good luck!

    • @diytipstricks1749
      @diytipstricks1749  Год назад +2

      Of course if you can lift the door frame threshold then you could replace it with the one you’ve bought.

    • @jackpollard3151

      @@diytipstricks1749 unfortunately the ‘professional’ that laid the laminate left a fair big gap, so we got the b&q threshold to try to cover it. Hoping to try the drill method and see if that makes a difference. We want to install a door but at the moment the laminate slightly sits up so we need it pinned down to stop the door scratching. So annoying but you never know with some tradesmen until it’s done! 😠

  • @cybersteve1
    @cybersteve1 2 года назад +2

    Thanks for the video. I've just started installing one of these and the instructions are not very good at all.
    A couple of points I'd like to add - On the plastic sprue that has the fixing "screws" there is also a depth gauge so you can check the holes are deep enough before inserting the screws.
    There are also some other plastic pieces which are designed to be slid onto the strip in between the screws. These are presumably designed to support the edge in between the screws and can be cut to length to suit the thickness of flooring.

      @diytipstricks1749  2 года назад +1
