As a bit of safety advice for anyone kayak camping. Do not paddle while wearing your ruck sack. If you tip over while wearing it the trapped air in the bag will put you face down in the water.
Better to risk losing your gear than losing your life!

Really great shout this! Great advice and I didn’t have it fastened and stayed extremely close to the shore, but I definitely need a better kayak so I can store it in the front!

You struck lucky there Joe, I was there the other week (paddle boarding/snorkelling) and there must of been 20+ people on the island (2 tents, multiple kayaks, paddleboards etc.). I too camped there several years ago, in a hammock (I did a video of this) and as always respected my surroundings, as you did. Great video mate !

That’s annoying! It does seem to be quite popular saying that it was nice to see no crazy burn marks or litter really when I visited

find a way of getting your backpack low down, preferably in the boat behind you if possible with the weight towards the back. works wonders for stability, unless of course theres no other way than wearing it on your back. awesome place been there myself a bit back, the weather didn’t spare me lol

    Good video pal,
I’ve noticed a few weary people commenting, just ignore them. People seem to forget that the vast majority of land in this country is owned by a tiny percentage of exceedingly wealthy people.
If we don’t make the most out of the public land what the hell are we supposed to enjoy. As long as people leave no trace and don’t interfere with wild life then I don’t see a problem personally anyway.
I agree with the others who commented in relation to PFD’s and all that.
    Keep on keeping on.

Well done Joe, great adventure in an amazing place & subcribed...👍 I must admit that I was a tad concerned, as someone else commented, when U were in boat with ruckrack on back & I couldn't see any float vest...!?🤔 I have 6 kayaks, 3 solid & 3 inflatables, but would never risk not wearing a FV & U never know how the weather & water conditions could change...!?? My eldest son is about Ur age & also named Joe...! So as a dad, ensuring his safety concerns me more than my own...🙏 I would have loved to have seen a closer look around the island with drone footage to see all of the shoreline, but I haven't a clue what sort of control range those things have or battery time...??🙄 Good that U enjoyed a cooked breakfast, but for £14🤯 it looked like an half empty plate, where was the bacon, egg, mushrooms & toms...?🙄 The Lanshan2 is a great tent & looked well pitched...👊 The only other thing I'd have done is to move the kayak closer to tent, weighed it down, tied it to something or possibly deflated it slightly, as if the wind got up during the night, that could have been long gone by morning & that's when you hope that your phone still has power for a rescue call...!🙄🤣 Stay safe dude, best wishes & look forward to watching more adventures...✔️💯

Great video - I'd have been tempted to have the kayak next to my tent, or at the very least pegged to the ground, just in case of high winds etc. - maybe a bit over precautious, but you never know.

"If your planned pitch is not above the highest fell wall this is illegal fly camping - not wild camping. The only places you can camp in valleys, by lakeshores or in lowland areas are on official campsites. A wild camp pitch must be above the highest fell wall."
    National Trust
"Fly camping is brazenly camping close to roads, lakeshores, farms and villages, without permission nor consideration for the impact on nature and local communities. Wild camping is the opposite: it is responsible and inconspicuous and adheres to a clearly defined code of ethics."
    Live For The Outdoors
"Fly camping by the side of lakes and in laybys is not allowed."

Campsite owners rn 🤑🤑🤑🤑 nature’s nature, I clearly illustrate the importance of leaving no trace being subtle setting up late and packing up early. I do understand it can be an issue wild camping is going to happen anyway and it’s important we teach the younger generations how to do it respectfully, I grew up watching a film called swallows and Amazons which was filmed on this island back before everything was monetised, some rules are in place out of respect while some rules are in place with big businesses in mind it’s important we learn the difference, thanks for the comment though

@@JoexplorezYou are very hypocritical and have a peculiar and twisted standpoint on wildcamping. You are fully aware that you are flycamping here, so don't promote flycamping. Wildcamping is something very different in the LDNP and as others have stated in this thread it's not acceptable. It's black and white and the rules are there to help keep our national park the beautiful place it is. You are not an exception to those the rules, as others aren't. @Joexplorez

He talks a lot about responsibility and respect for the environment, not going in the nesting season, pitching late, leaving no trace
Young people are lucky to work for £10/hour
Campsites charge £40+ for a night these days
Wouldn't you prefer that kids are taught to wild camp properly ?

    • @richardjennings2708
      @richardjennings2708 2 месяца назад

@@sarahsue42 I'd rather teach young folk not to trespass. It's that simple. To do so, and then post it on RUclips is totally irresponsible!

Nothing New, I used to do this in 1977 in the lakes (Particularly Windermere) ... And beyond. I bought my first Inflatable in that year and particularly remember viewing German paddlers using the Metzler Spetz (Inflatable) on the Mittenwald in 1976. I bought modern day inflatables in 2003/4 and used them all over Scotland upto and including grade 4 white water. I used to sleep in my boat with a basher, worked well.... Great video but as I say... Nothing new 👍👍 thanks for sharing

It's a tiny island. By promoting this you are damaging a sensitive location and breaking outdoor access codes. Nothing clever about this at all. The more that copy you the worse that island gets.

    • @Joexplorez

I understand where you’re coming from, I never mentioned the name of the island but I did make the viewer aware of the importance of leave No trace and also tidied up as much as I could and did no harm. Wild camping is going to happen whether we like it or not it’s important people know the rules to make sure the landscape remains in pristine condition for generations to come saying that I will try and keep the locations more secrets of going forward thanks for the comment🤝
