  • Taking a trip to Mansfield on an extremely bitter and cold rainy day, Michael Rodgers and I catch a rare occurrence of two Acela Express trains meeting at Mansfield at speed. This speed of 150mph for each train creates a closing speed of the 300mph respective to each train!
    Enjoy!!

    "Train approaching. Please remain behind yellow line." For something like this, don't say "please." It's almost like saying that request is optional. The announcement should say "You must remain behind yellow line, unless you want your body parts picked up from the tracks and placed in a sack." That yellow line is awfully narrow, for something passing you at 150 mph.

    • @WKPExpressMovies
      @WKPExpressMovies 3 года назад +1

      I agree. In germany maximum speed on platforms is 200 km/h (124 mph) and the lines are much wider. And on platforms where trains pass faster there are barriers along the line. Fastest track on a platform is 230 km/h (143 mph).
      Something like shown in that video would be unimaginable.

    • @roachtoasties
      @roachtoasties 3 года назад +2

      @@WKPExpressMovies Agree again! That all too narrow yellow strip at the edge of the platform I've seen all over a place. It must be one company that makes it, with them thinking "one size fits all." I think the problem in the U.S. are companies, transportation agencies, governments, etc., are too concerned about their customer service image, so it's all "please" and "thank you." For a train track, forget about the "please" and "thank you." Just say, "If you stand too close, you'll die an agonizing death." That will get people's attention.
