I drove the 90Hp TD. It wasn't even common-rail and slow up to the point that merging on the highway was downright dangerous. I remember the ride to be really comfortable though. The T4 was on my wishlist at that time, but most were beat-up or too expensive. Great that they found one for this money!

I absolutely love my 2004 V40 2.0T Classic! Bought mine for 1100€ with 295k km last summer and had to put another 1000€ onto it to fix litlle issues. Since the fixes it has been so reliable and fun car to drive so far. Safe, comfortable and fun car! If any of you are looking for one of these, get the 2.0T model from 03-04. You get the best performance and modernised look compared to the older ones. Glad to see you guys trying this video format, works great and love to see more videos like these!
Nice find! I had a V40 2.0T for 3 years and it was great. Be sure to check if the wastegate actuator still opens at the correct pressure. They tend to wear out and you won't make as much boost as you should (ask me how I know...)
This engine is actually the same engine as the T5 or the T6 from Volvo but in the S40/V40 with only four cilinders. It's called the Volvo modular engine. Like this type of video, last year I bought myself a XM V6 with 200hp and a manual gearbox for 450 euros with APK. Bodywork is pour but it is a lot of fun to have a "fast" cheap car. Cruises nice at 210km/h in Germany.
My friend has the same volvo with 200 hp but just an S40 from this year. It wasn't serviced properly for years and kt still runs just fine, and it's pretty quick and shocks a lot of drivers on the road. Has about 340 000
Very nice, i like this format. Cars on the continent seem expensive! I didnt catch the first video but in the UK you can get a decent car for £1600 which is just under 2kEur. For example there is currently: Jaguar S Type 4.2 V8 (300bhp) for £999 but there is ABS light on Jaguar S Type 3.0 V6 (240bhp) £1,395 BMW 745i (329bhp) £1,500 - no MOT so a bit of a gamble - but thats half the fun in this price bracket Volvo V70 T5 (260bhp) - £1,495 Ford Mondeo ST220 - £1,000 BMW 330d (204BHP) £1,000 BMW 330i (231BHP) £1,200 All do 0-60mph in less than 8 seconds and theres lots more. V40 T4 is a great bet though and i have always loved them. A sports / decat along with an air intake and a remap should see a good improvement in power and acceleration.
Have had a Volvo v40 t4, a silver one. Such a great car. I bought it 5 years ago for 1500 euros. Drove a whole year in it without any issues. Such great value for money. And like you said, no one knows about them. They have also been released as a Mitsubishi charisma. The engine is the same as the legendary 5 cilinders, but with 1 cilinder less. Leuke video! :D Groetnnn

One of my friends had one like 15 years ago, and we went on a trip, it was about 5celcius so cold but not freezing. We set of and with 15km/u in the first corner, he understeered straight on into a sign. Slowest crash I've seen to date! Also hilarious to see. He was less pleased.
I ve been driving one for about 70k now, and had some issues with handling first, that got fixed with new tires and new springs. I drive it on the autobahn with 150-180 kmh, got the laguna diesel engine on it and get perfect mileage. My 2.4 s60 doesn't handle better. Volvos do tend to understeer overall, that s no surprise. Have some decent maintenance done and you ll see improvements, I'd expect.
If anyone is wondering what these types of car costs here in sweden where they exist in an abundance on the second hand market. A normal v40 from 2000 with 130hp driven by a grandmother for the last 20 years costs about 1000 euro. The same car with 163hp from 2000 costs around 1500 euro.
