It's always fun coming up with inventive ways to mount everything. I just did this for a buddy of mine where the final design (3D printed) is angled like your bracket, but on both sides so he has lots of real estate for his MeLe and Powerbox with room to spare. The new plate bolts through to his rings so there's no concern about strength. Also, I think it was Chad from Patriot Astro that did some temp tests with the MeLe and discovered those factory stickers hold in heat and make the PC run hotter, so you may consider removing them.

Hi Rich! Thanks, I was just getting ready to head over to Lowe's and see if I can find an angle bracket that I can attach to the ring mount and run down the other side of scope. I should then be able to mount my power hub on that side away from MeLe. It would be great if i can because all of my cables will be terminating in the same area and make it easier to tidy things up.
Thanks for the head's up on the stickers retaining heat! I had not thought of that!

I really enjoy your videos mate... I've just gone through a similar process of figuring out how I'm going to mount up my Mele Quieter 3 to my rig, I got some spacers for the rings for my scope that raise it up 35mm from the dovetail, and it slotted neatly under my scope... It does block 3 of the 4 USB3 ports, however I use the one available port to go to my WandererAstro Powerbox ultimate that is mounted above the scope, that provides me with 3x USB3's and 6x USB2's so I'm more than covered there.

Alex, thanks so much for the kind words, I really appreciate that!
I was looking at how I might orient the MeLe underneath, between the rings. It would definitely block the 3 USB ports and I don't have any others outboard (except for the Hub on my ASI camera). I'm using all 4 too.
      Cheers!

I was out last night working on my guiding and my cables were flopping all over the place. I really need to do something like you have done. Are you happy with the Mele Mini?

Hi Lance!! I must’ve had 10 or more Amazon orders for different cabies/lengths. I’ve got a good supply of backup cables now lol! I think it’s important for safety and longevity of your cables, I’d go for it.
So far very happy. Very stable and very good wifi built in. Setup was somewhat complicated but doable. Good videos out there already.
      Cheers!

I had a similar dilemma. What I came up with was putting spacers between the dovetail and the telescope so I could utilize the real estate on the top of the dovetail. Clear Skies.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I like that idea a lot, Deon! I’m guessing you haven’t noticed anything with heat from MeLe affecting your optics? That was my only concern with going out under the scope. Not sure if it’s a valid concern though.

@@AstroAF I have some air between the scope and mini pc with the 50mm aluminum SHS spacers I made. Plus the mini pc isn't working hard running Nina so it doesn't generate much heat. Also lol, once you create some space underneath the scope there are limitless possibilities for how to mount something with brackets/cheese plates.

@@deonster1 good to know about the air space and not excessive heat. Thank you!
I just checked and I don’t have clearance between my rings to get the MeLe in there without making it so I can’t push my Dew Shield in. I’ll have to think about that with my cover and the “AFO” dome.

    Nasa space velcro

Great stuff, especially with the interlocking plastic hooks… until you want to remove it 😁. I use that stuff on my guitar pedalboard and you have to get a screwdriver in between the layers so you can start to peel it apart. Then the glue side sticks so hard I fear it’ll remove paint.
