- The Sweet live at the #goldennugget Las Vegas last night. The band sounded great, and while no original members remain, the band is formed out of the nucleus of the band that was touring with Steve Priest prior to his passing in 2020. I was lucky enough to see that band a couple of times at this same venue just before we lost Steve, and I've tagged on a couple of bonus clips of Steve at the end.

I went to this show at the Golden Nugget. Flat out, one of the best concerts I've ever seen!!! This lineup of SWEET is unbelievable!!! I had a blast!!! Jimmy Burkhart's guitar playing is impeccable! The lead singer is absolutely outstanding! Bassist - great! A LONG drum solo, which was first-class! People, if you have a chance to see these guys perform all the Sweet hits, don't miss out. It's an incredibly fun show!!! Furthermore, to the band members. Don't listen to all these trolls. They're classless idiots. You guys played your asses off for your audience, and it showed. Everything about this show was fantastic!
Glad you had a great night with Steve’s band but lets just be honest. These guys have absolutely nothing to do with The Sweet and their hits. They’re just playing the hits as a tribute band. They are def good musicians but nothing compared to Andy Scott`s official Sweet band.
@@joakimernst694 Maybe you should educate yourself a bit more before being the consummate expert on "The Sweet." For example, read the reply from www.youtube.com/@spinaltappete to @metalmark062 a bit further down this page. So let's be honest, these musicians are great, this band is great, and that was a fuckin' great show. Now if you don't like them, or, you like the other band better, then that's your opinion - I don't give a damn...
@@joakimernst694 That's great!!! Next time I have an opinion I'll just first ask you what it is!!! Maybe read the one reply below to "metalmark062." Now, go back to trolling...
@@jeffreynowotarski8775 Again, I’m happy to hear that you had a great time enjoying the music. They’re are GOOD MUSICIANS but not Sweet no matter what you say. Andy’s band would get the same reactions if his band members continued without him. Just a fact.
I agree. I saw them with Angel.
they are trying to keep the band going
Who actually owns the name? I saw Steve Priest’s version of the band about 15 years ago. I know this is a different singer, but were any of the other guys in Steve’s band?
No idea on the name legalities, they did say that Steve had given his blessing to this version, but that's all I have. I saw Steve Priests version a few times too, and yes, this was definitely a different singer (I thought he was better tbh), and I think a different guitarist. Obviously a different bass player, but did he play keys before? I know the drummer was with Priests Sweet for nearly 20 years, but that's all I've got!.
Not this band.
Yes most of these guys were in Steve's version of Sweet...bass player was the keyboardist when Steve was alive. Drummer was with Sweet a long time. This is a different singer. The only one I'm not sure about is the guitarist, but I believe he's the same guy.
@@mikeanthony2779 ......ok if it's the drummer you say , should be Bruce Bisland , don't know why he's not with A.Scott anymore ....
I’m guessing management must have some sort of legal hold on the name or there is some sort of agreement some of the touring profits goes to the estate of Steve Priest…..
This is not Sweet. This band doesn't have any right to the name. There is only one Sweet, with the one remaining member Andy Scott.
Give it a rest.. we get nothing here in the US? why are YOU against keeping the MUSIC OF SWEET alive?
Coz they ain't Sweet simples, tribute band at best
what is the name of the singer finally ?
Patrick stone
@@austinjohnson180 ....allright ....thanks....
I just saw Sweet with Andy Scott do two back to back gigs over two nights. They sound a lot heavier than this band!
Tribute Band since there is not one original member.
so who is this ? it's not SWEET ....
Maybe drummer from Andys Sweet? But for me Sweet finished when Brian wasn't the singer. And then we lost Mick and Steve. Myself would not call this a cover band even, no offence fellas but I'm old school. Like my original members
well, I saw Pink Floyd in 1988, and can't see them anymore,. But Brit Floyd is the next best thing. The Any Scott sweet will not come to the US because of an agreement with Steve. SO this is the best we'll get here.
I want to see you guys in person do you ever come to Central Florida?
yes for sure this singer can sing, and it's hard to sing like Connolly or Priest ....
Sweet (cover) band
I would not pay to see it.-Bingo.
They did play with Steve Preist until he died. I saw them in 2008 with Steve Preist and I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Montclair Ca. without him. Still love the music and would have to travel to Germany to see Andy Scott's Sweet.
Ordinary tribute band
This not SWEET!! Just a cover band. Remaining Original member Andy Scott is alive and well and his original version of The Sweet is touring the UK, Beware of fake bands..
Largely agree, but its more complex than that. There was a UK Sweet with Andy Scott, and a US Sweet with Steve Priest. When Steve passed a couple of years ago, this band carried on with his blessing. A couple of the members have been playing with him for a very long time as Sweet. You are right of course, it's not 'the' Sweet, and Andy Scotts band has a bit more credibility. But even that's not really the Sweet, any more than Dave Hills Slade is really Slade. Sadly few bands from the 60's and 70's have all, or even any original members, and if we want to enjoy the music, I guess we'll have to live with that. These guys were very upfront about the whole story, as Adam Lambert is when he sings with Queen. I enjoyed them, and unless Andy tours the US, this is our best bet to hear this music.
@@spinaltappeteOK. Point well taken. Let's call them "Sweet & Sour."
@@danielschear556 Lol, or Sweet FA. I love the music, so while I'd prefer to see original line-ups, I'm personally happy to go watch bands that keep the legacy alive, as long as they are upfront bout it. And if I'm honest, non original but younger vocalists do come with some advantages. But everyone to their own
@@spinaltappete "This goes to eleven."
LOL!!@@danielschear556
This is so bad. As a Sweet fan from the 70's - this is blasphemy. All phony band. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sweet it ain't but not a bad cover band.
Jeeez guys….. Get another bandname now. Andy is still around with Sweet. I know this is Steve´s version but none of these guys have anything to do with Sweet at all.
I think there was an agreement between Steve and Andy. Andy would do the UK and Steve would do the US. And Stephen passed that on to the members of his band.
Correct.
@@nhrocker2765yes when Steve was alive
Andys Sweet tour the uk and europe.
@@simoncartlidge1726 right, and he can't be bothered to come to the US. These guys were awesome in NH and the best show I have seen in a while, and that includes Michael Schenker who I saw last year in NH. Why are the brits such wankers about this?
🥱😴
Not one member that were ever in the real Sweet. A cover band, not "the" Sweet. They should change the name.
Would you call Brit Floyd a cover band?
@@nhrocker2765 Ehh... yes. What has this got to do with this band? Brit Floyd is a tribute band that sometimes features musicians that have played with Pink Floyd, but it's still a tribute/cover band.
@@starkjanne It's the closest thing I'll ever get to being near any version of Sweet. At least 2 of them played with Steve. Just like Brit Floyd, and I saw Pink Floyd in 1987 or 88-forgot. Can't see Pink Floyd, but I can go to Brit Floyd.
@@nhrocker2765 But this is just a scam when they claim to play their "old hits", but none of the members were ever part of the band when they recorded any of the songs. Andy Scott still runs The Sweet, and they are the only band that actually should have the right to call themselves The Sweet. Not these clowns.
Copy Shit
