      Ever consider that maybe, the whole SW story is being told BY R2D2 in a robo-bar? He’s in all the movies, and is the hero… just like a guy telling a story.

      @@tringalij I have never looked at it from this point of view, but if I do, I would change the bar into an auditorium in which thousands of listeners are focused on talking about R2D2.
      But I remind you that he hung up for some years, so he could not know what was happening at that time, ... well, with C3P0, he later told him everything he knew.
      In my opinion, someone should make a copy of R2's entire memory, just in case.

    R2 deserves his popularity. I've lost count of the neat and emotional lore tid bits of his story. One more emotional post pointed out that R2 both watched Laih be born in episode 3 and watched her pass away in episode 9. The camera angle and lighting was able to imply sad emotions in that very last screenshot of R2 and Laih.

Both C3PO and R2D2 are like childhood friends. some of the other cool things that a R2 unit could do was to have it's head detached when there wasn't room for the whole R2 without lose of it's brain. The other is that R2D2 (I'm not sure about the others) could extend it's "neck" to fit in a slot that was too tall for him like when he was in the Naboo fighter. I love how the creators thought through those little details that few would even think about!
    The biggest question I'd love to ask George Lucas is if R2D2 never had a memory wipe, why hasn't he ran out of data storage? Did R2 have to go in to the shop every so often and get an upgrade to his hard drives?
    I'd also want to ask, why didn't R2 tell anyone that Vader was Anikin, wasn't R2 aware of what was going on?

    • @Halfscreen
      @Halfscreen  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, I knew about it but decided not to animate the detached head and why wasn't his memory wipe, I'm assuming George Lucas probably avoid this subject matter.

    • @jeffd8465
      @jeffd8465 3 года назад +1

      with Halloween here in the U.S. it could have been fitting to have a headless R2 unit running around. ;P
      thinking about the memory issue, what if the Star Wars universe had figured out quantum computers? That way they would be able to store data at the atomic scale instead of the nano scale that we use today.
      Yes I'm over thinking fiction but I find it fun and good for the mind.

    • @Halfscreen
      @Halfscreen  3 года назад

      "the inner workings of R2-D2" should have literally been an interview with Kenny Baker about playing the character.

    i think head plate of the r units are made of beskar, in order to deflect laser shots when they navigate on battle

      "DEFLECT" laser shots? He lost most of his head thanks to Vader in the Death Star trench dog-fight.

    Wrong Huey, Duey, and Luey. Lucas was referring to the robots in a movie called "Silent Running" (ruclips.net/video/8FM0j_NSWLg/видео.html). Bruce Dern's character names the 3 robots, Huey, Duey, and Luey.

      You're more right then you might think. Lucas drew some inspiration from a Japanese film called The Hidden Fortress (which gets a call out in a New Hope) which told the story from the point of view of two earnest but kinda dim witted peasants who end up playing a part in winning a war. He loved that idea and well, you already know where he went with that idea heh.

    OK let’s be honest R2-D2 is like a roach in the Star Wars universe in a good way he is very useful and very friendly as well and it is basically impossible to kill him
