As someone who tore his ACL last year, I was laying down the doc sat on my foot with my knee above my heat level and pulled it towards him to feel any pullback. Even though I physically felt the ligament tear off, nice to prove it.
@@KelseyTurner-vz6hx hey we injured our knee right around the same time it's been 8 months for me too but yes if you still feel pain in your knee after a few days you can assume it's sprained if you have trouble walking then it's probably torn
I injured my knee with inward knee motion. Knee is stable to the sides and no swelling, but I cant go downstairs or kneel. My Lellis test is negative but I feel clicking/popping behind knee when performing the test. Is it meniscus?
From research I have done, it appears people who get acl surgery have no better long term outcomes than those that don't. I am 65 with limited walking due to another injury many years past. I do not plan on surgery for my recent acl tear. Not doing enough activity to warrant it. What do B&B think?
Are there particular stretches you can do to relieve stress for the ACL/PCL? I've looked on your channel without much luck. Sometimes when changing positions during sitting, I would get a sharp pain, like I'm overstretching a ligament in one of my knees. I have very good body awareness and am certain its my ACL since it's coming from within my knee. I've also done the tests you recommend and didn't get any pain indicating meniscus issue. It's fine 99% of the time during walking or running. Just in those particular situations where I might twist and simultaneously stretch my knee (similar motion to those ACL tests that you said a physician would usually do). It might be just my lack of flexibility in my legs. I have some anterior pelvic tilt too so I'm sure that would affect it, since the body is one unit. I haven't had any injury and don't play sports and am 24yrs young.
edit: a few days later and its better now. Must've been those daily leg and hip flexor stretching exercises I do. It must've put some kind of strain on it. It's much less apparent now.
@@diamanteduul8084 have u felt like bones of knee joint making contact when changing positions while sitting or changing positions whith bended knee or like ligaments get loose allow knee bones to move and slide each other little bit while they are in bending situation
When I tore my ACL, it was easily the most painful thing I experienced in my life, I was gasping for air writhing on the ground for a full minute. Trust me, you will know if you tore it.
I had some bruising around my knee joint as well as the tear, I feel like the bruising was worse but I felt the ACL tear itself and it felt like you tied a piece of rope to a point and held it, at the same time were cutting it with a knife. So you could feel the rope getting looser after every tear, only difference is that with the ACL it happened in a fraction of a second
Had a recent injury skiing and smashed my knee cap on a rock. Wondering if it’s possible to get an acl tear from this. I can put my weight on my leg still and have a full range of motion. Just hurts when I bend it while I lift it off the ground

If I passed all these tests without seeing any changes, but the MRI shows a completely torn ligament? The clinical examination is without instability, but the MRI still shows the complete rupture.
Go to a doctor. You don’t just get an ACL tear and have no pain. You know something happened. The question is what happened. This video also negates more important tests that confirm an injury. Whatever happened, you know you need help. I wouldn’t risk of hurting yourself with this injury.
I thought I tore my meniscus a while back, never got MRI & just went about life. I tore my ACL about a month ago & what you’re saying is more than correct. You know right away it’s not something you walk off.
I am Studying physiotherapy and I am currently in 3rd year and I want to Do MPT in sports medicine could you help me in recognising a good college for that
Go to the gym and start training legs. Squats, hamstring curls, calf raises and leg press, your leg musles will grow back to original size and the pain will fade away. I was in the same situation as you, but now after just 4 months of regular gym work out, not only did my muscles get back to original size but they also keep growing and I rarely have any discomfort in my knee. The secret is to train consistently for years and get your legs as massive as possible, then you can start running and jumping again. If I keep this up, I might return to football next year.
Did the test on myself. My heel lifted. Praise god.
I did it and my heel lifted like an inch or so, does that mean its still good or?
but I coudnt lift it higher then that maybe its because of the swelling on my knee because I still cant fully extend it
@@tahazahid2030 as far as I understand... the acl is the only ligament that allows it to lift...
