I got the Fokoos after Frank suggested it to me while looking for a replacement for my old printer. I can tell you that the standard print quality is much better than I expected and the heated bed keeps the print from warping at the bottom. The only issues I've had is that the print sometimes struggles to stick to the bed if I haven't put down enough glue but that could be down to the ambient temperature of the room it's in or any number of other factors. I had been using the Fokoos slicer for the prints but I would suggest anyone to use cura for the slicer software. You aren't able to change the support options much in the Fokoos slicer and I think that might play a large part in some of the failed prints where the support structure has come unstuck from the print bed. Edit: After using cura to slice one of the models, it is actually very similar to the Fokoos slicer. I am just used to using the Flashforge slicer that came with my old printer where modifying supports felt much more intuitive to me. That's my mistake for not taking the time to properly understand how it works. Bottom line is, this printer is great! And even on its poorest quality print settings the results are still really good. Straight out of the box I have done several 24hr+ prints and other than some of the aforementioned problems with supports (that can easily be fixed), everything else has printed well and the printer itself has never skipped a beat.
I agree about the locking pins for setting this up. There are probably people (not me) who would like to use the printer for a project, then fold it and put it on the shelf until the next project. Also impressed with the print quality.
Got this printer a few weeks ago and so far it has been pretty good. The only issue I’ve had was the wheels/rollers being garbage. The metal center had separated from the black wheel on nearly everyone and cause multiple printing issues with bed leveling, layer shifting, etc. After replacing the wheels it’s been working very well.
Thank you so much for sharing all of the stuff you have made on RUclips!! This is what got me into 3D Printing and I just got my first one yesterday! Thank you so much!
One very good thing to note about many 3d printers is that their initial quality is almost always great. If it works, then it works great. But the problem comes with how long such quality will last and how much maintenance it'll need
Because of you making this video, I’m gonna save up to get this printer, it’s so easy and simple, especially in terms of unboxing it I mean an already put together printer, sign me up!!!, thanks Frank for doing this video it really helped me out with finding the right starting printer!!!
I’ve had this focus Odin 5 printer for about over a year and 3 months I grabbed Cura settings from thingiverse and it is the most reliable most consistent my favorite machine out of 12 printers I have including an ender 3 anycubic Chiron and even there new kobra max pro which new so maybe my settings could be A little off Because it does cause a lot of stringing on the kobra but this fokoos is crazy good
I have multiple questions (cuz I want a 3D printer) 1:where do you get the visors for your helmets 2:where can you find filaments I think that’s how you spell it 3: what is a good computer or laptop for 3D printing
Wasn’t the one you recommended most the Voxlab Aquila or Sovol 3 sv03? Or is this the one you’d suggest buying instead, I’m trying to make decorations like Guts’ sword
so so happy your video made me get one lol i was kind of sad when i went to there store and it was out of stock so i looked on amazon and it was $350 but they had a coupon on the amazon page for 50% off so i got it for $175
The funny part is that now the ender 3 V2 cost aboutd $270 and this one cost $179 on Newegg. So yeah this printer is an incredible deal. I really hope I can get one soon
Fook ya!!!!!! What a great video I have 2 of these and they are beast, granted I ran them 24 hours a day for 6 months and definitely went through some spare parts and a few conversation with Dora on the Facebook group. Bad Filament sensor, an exploded hot end and few nozzle changes. I serious printed 100 planters on 2 of these in a month. Great recommendation for a beginner printer and also great job on explaining the name.
Its such a great time to step into 3d printing right now. With all these new midrange printers like the Mingda Magician, Anycube Viper and then this? So jealous for new commers.
I think you could print most of it. 3d printed wheels are horrible though and you would need a motor. I don't know if the plastic is durable enough to take a crash though.
Hey so a cheap (possibly akg) condenser microphone will make the world of a difference. Just need a interface with phantom power and your all set. Its like 100-150$ depending on what you get and it will make the world of a difference. Love the videos! Deffinetly gunna get into 3d printing!
Hey! I wanted to get into the hobby for a long time now, and this looks great! Problem is, I live in the Netherlands and it's not really readily available. As such, I'm mainly looking to get an Ender 3 V2, is that still great?
Hello buddy watched your videos on this unit and the aquila wanted to know which you recommend for a beginning that could afford either 1? Thanks for the advice and the videos awesome stuff
So I really want to get into 3D printing. Im really into making props. If I wanted to learn how print props and stuff like is this a good printer for that? I’m trying to research it and I really love your videos and you are go to for me.
I'm wanting to get myself my first 3d printer finally, is this still a good recommendation for me? I want to print action figures, helmets, and possibly stuff like thors hammer or god of war blades.
I used an Ender 3 for a year, and I learned a lot from it, got a few nice prints and I pushed it, but towards the end when it started clogging constantly and breaking down, it stopped being fun. I want to sculpt in 3D and print shit. I don’t want to worry about tinkering and fixing this thing and having constant technical problems.
You need this fokoos I am on the same path and fokoos never let me down Even with crazy nomad sculpts that I have done on my iPad Not to mention the x and y axes are better on the fokoos with less ghosting And shows a lot more details Compared to an ender 3 Truly my favorite machine after I got my cura setting off of thingiverse that’s the most reliable the most quietest tpu filament super easy I literally have it right next to my bed don’t hear a thing just make sure you remove the yellow cover For some reason it makes less noise but truly out of 12 machines that I have this is one of the best
So you mentioned near the end that this is the perfect first printer for smaller items. If someone wants to do larger prints would you have a different recommendation? Trying to find the best first printer! And as always great video man! Keep up the great work and great content!
So, the build volume is not very large. I think I could print comic book statues with this. Would I be able to print Arkham Origins Armor though? I hear it is just a matter of slicing right. I am wanting to just get my feet wet though. I do not want to spend $500 YET. Mainly because of needed software and cost of filament and stl files. I just want to see if doing cool stuff is possible before I throw more money into the hobby. For me it is a matter of wanting to surround myself with art.
WARNING !!! I have discovered a very serious and potentially highly dangerous flaw with the Fokoos Odin5. When the ribbon connector that connects to the print head becomes worn over time it can lead to highly erratic temperature readings, for me this lead to thermal runaway with the hotend reaching over 300 degrees centigrade, smoke was pouring out of the print head and this could have lead to a real disaster if I hadn't been in the room when it happened. Please anyone who reads this help to get the word out there, this is a very serious issue and could possibly lead to tragedy. Thanks for your time and stay safe.
I’m curious because this hobby isn’t super expensive but I think I might start trying to make stuff the same size that you are. How much have you spent of 3d printer food (plastic spaghetti)
For a newbie like me whose going to be using the printer for rebuilding my costume, the ender 3 is slightly to small without splitting, I'm lost on going with the CR10 V-2 or the Ender 5 Plus, both are in my budget, would love to have your opinion since your familiar with both, thanks in advance.
I about to start with 3d printing. I think ender can be better because of all the upgrades and because there is soo many ppl who use it. But if you are not going to make the upgrades then i would recommend FOKOOS ODIN5F3
Good catch haha yeah I don’t type really anything special in review video descriptions. Apologies haha we have templates now for description boxes to speed things up but that was a silly mistake
hello I would like to ask if you could make the pegasus seiya helmet, the one with the covered shape, I hope you see my comment and I like your videos a lot
HELP NEEDED!! i had to reformat my micro sd card that came with my cr10 max and now my printer has stopped working and when i start a print the z home is set to like the middle of the printer like 10cm high off the bed and ive tried so much to get it levelled again, and nothing works. im not sure if it is because of the drivers and files that come on the micro sd card for the printer and now that they arent on there that its not working properly or something like that but i have tried to find those files everywhere on the internet and no where seems to help even the creality website doesnt have those specific files they only have like updated firmware files and stuff and i have no idea what to do to get my printer working again since ive only had it for less than a month. any help given from anyone would be great.
F@ck it. I am pulling the trigger on this one. I found an awesome file distributor with pre keyed and pre supported files. This is about the same size as the Anycubic Kobra direct extruder. A bit bigger actually. I saw someone printing a full-face mask on that one, so this one should be big enough with the right slicing for cosplay. The only advantage that one had was the magnetic bed.
Would love to see a revisit of this printer in 3 to 6 months, even just a quick update to see how it's doing for you (if you keep using it of course).
I have owned 3 of them for over 3 months, level bed and print.. Great printer just wish they had one with a bigger build volume.
I love mine. I use it more than my Ender 2 V2. The Odin comes with all the "upgrades" everyone pitches and "recommend"

Have you seen the Jeremy Renner interview where he was working with a French director who told him to “focus”. Same exact energy
I've had mine for 3 days and not a failed print yet. Love it!!

The printer is $190 at Newegg now, pretty good deal for what it is
Hahaha nicely done man. Going to need you to Fokoos a little more for me ;)
