I just met him last week and we talked for almost an hour. Very friendly, down-to-earth and good sense of humor. He graciously signed an autograph for me - I didn't want to seem like an idiot, but this guy's a MAJOR TALENT. For me, it was like meeting one of the Beatles or Stones. His group even outsold the Beatles in 1969 for single 45's (remember those, Baby Boomers?) - TJ & the Shondells are not even in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame yet - unbelievable!
I'll never have the good fortune of meeting Tommy. I'll never have the opportunity to personally thank him for making my life so much better because of his incredible music. All I can hope for is that maybe, just maybe, he will stumble upon this post one day. So with that in mind, I love you Tommy. You are my hero.
Hey shyman99, I just interviewed Tommy James a couple of weeks ago (on my you tube), I was going to email him on some updates and I'll send a photo copy of what you wrote here to him to make your dream come true of personally thanking him. He will see it.
@@LeahTillock - Thank you so much!!! That would mean the world to me. I was so close to seeing him in concert about 7 years ago but I fell very ill right before the concert. Someone there told me he met fans after the concert and I cried knowing I missed the opportunity.
@@shyman99 I will definitely get this to him and he will have your you tube handle, if he says something to me about your message, I'll write back here and let you know.
Tommy James is BRILLIANT - Crimson and Clover still sounds great, nothing lost through the years. Clever, inventive, and trendy - I've heard it 3,765,322 times, and it still sounds fresh every time I hear it. NEVER gets old.
I was lucky enough to see Tommy James and the Shondells back in Pittsburgh Pa. 1968, on their tour with the Beach Boys, with many other great bands. It was fantastic!! The music was so energizing and I will never forget the '60's It was fun!
This is a great & interesting interview. Wow! you had more hit singles than the Beatles that's a really cool accomplishment. You & your band were and are great! Tommy it's great to see you smile and hear you laugh. 😊❤
yes, i saw Tommy James in 1986 at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City,Mo. He was great! The local music critic gave him a bad review, but I thought he sounded great, especially when I found out his equipment was stolen at the airport or lost..Still love his music. It stands the test of time!
Cool. Would be the same for me. I can't believe they aren't in the hall of fame yet. I'm amazed to hear they still sound good looking at the vids of them from 2005 on youtube.
@shyman99 If you get the opportunity, you will not be disappointed. I have had the pleasure to meet Tommy James several times and he remembers me now by name when I see him. He is truly a changed man and all for the better. Oh, and the music is so good too. Get out there to see him if you can.
@wintercat2 I have a disability that prevents me from traveling or I would attend every one of his concerts. If I knew of an email address to write him at , I would do so in a second. But I will always have the music. And that's a gift from Tommy all of us can be very thankful for.
"Crimson and Clover" is definitely one of the GREATEST singles of all-time. A much-deserved No. 1.

@shyman99 Tommy James is touring regularly. I'm confident you will have the chance to see Tommy live in concert.
I saw Tommy James and Ronnie Spector perform in Central Park about 10 years ago.

@proudgram61 who were some of the other bands you got to see?
Tommy James and the Shondells is one of the most underrated groups of all time. By the way, anyone know what a Shondell is?
@artman102 I think he prefers smaller venues so he can meet and greet his fans.
He made GREAT music.
George Vreeland Hill
