Beautiful.. touching.. Shila. Your Korean pronunciation is excellent. It's very surprizing, considering that you haven't had formal Korean lessons yet. Keep up the great work. The only pronunciation snag I heard is how you said "빨" in the rap line "빨주노초" which means "red, orange, yellow, green." I assume you have already learned hangul. There are five pairs of hangul consonants that come in single and double of the same letter: ㄱ/ㄲ, ㄷ/ㄸ, ㅂ/ㅃ, ㅅ/ㅆ, ㅈ/ㅉ. Let me give you an accurate guide to pronouncing these. The doubled consonants are called "된소리(duen-sori)" which means "thick sound." The doubled consonants sound "thicker" than the single counterparts. You give more muscular stress on the tongue as you say the double consonant than you would to the single consonant. ㅂ sounds very much like the English b in "boy" or "bun." Compared to that, you would give more stress to the lips as you say ㅃ. If you know French, the Korean ㅃ is exactly like the French "p" as in "Paris" or "pas." This French "p" is completely different from the English "p." I hope you already know French or have some French man or girl you can ask about the accurate pronunciation of the French "p" which is exact equivalent to the Korean ㅃ in sound. In the rap though, you pronounced this ㅃ not in the correct Korean ㅃ or French "p," but in the wrong English "p" sound. The English "p" sound in Korean hangul is equivalent to ㅍ. In other words, in the rap part, you said "팔" not "빨." "빨" means "red", but "팔" means "arm" or "8." It just dawned on me now. You can actually get correct samples of ㅃ sound easily from K-pop songs you already know. One is the very first Word in the lyrics of PSY's Gangnam Style, "오빤." The other one is Black Pink's "Boombaya" where they shout "오빠!" in the song occasionally. "오빠" as you already may know means "older brother" to girls. So you can refer back to these songs for the accurate sampling of ㅃ sound.And for the sake of completeness, let me also jot down the pronunciations of the rest of single/double consonant pairs. ㄱ = "g" as in "guy." But ㄲ is exactly equivalent to the French "c" as in "commes" or "collage." ㄷ = "d" as in "do." But ㄸ is Again exactly equivalent to the French "t" as in "TGV" or "tolerance." ㅅ is actually more difficult to find the exact counterpart sound in English. The English "s" sound as in "sorry" is exactly the same as ㅆ, not ㅅ. ㅅ is spoken with much less stress on the tongue than ㅆ or English "s." The only ㅅ equivalent sound in English I can find are the "s" sound in "slow" or "snap" where "s" is followed by another consonant which softens the sound of "s" part. ㅈ = "j" as in "jelly" but don't protrude your lips forward as you say ㅈ. Korean language does not use protrusion of lips at all. All Korean sounds are made with tongue and lips (but without protruding). ㅉ is more difficult to explain because we don't have equivalent sound in English at all. You would give more muscular stress on the tip of tongue as you say ㅈ, then you get ㅉ. German language, however, has ㅉ sound equivalent. If you know German or can ask a German person, it would be nice. The German "z" as in "Zeit (time)" or Zeitung (newspaper)" sounds very similar to the Korean ㅉ. People who didn't have formal Korean lesson will pronounce as what they saw in the lyrics .. What I mean is they read Korean using Romanization .. I've learn Korean.. I read Romanization before , and my pronounciation had a lot of mistake .. thats why I used another method such as watching drama, listening a song and learn more about pronounciation.. Also, I read Korean by myself everyday so that my korean will be better than before. She will learn Korean , by the way .. Let's hope her pronounciation will be good one day.. and thanks for your explaination (even though I already know) ^^

i just stumbled upon this shila amzah's cover after 3 years like wtf why did i just found out this now
She pronounced Hangul word by word using Romanization .. thats why its heard as 'hard' and tough. Korean words cannot pronounce using Romanization because it will make it sound different from original pronounce .. But, its okay . She will learn it though .. Don't bash critizers because she can improve by it .. Please calm down , guys.. This is a simple matters. Why bother so much -.-
