- James O'Brien and Lewis Goodall analyse the Tories' performance in local elections since 2021.
Lewis Goodall casts doubt on any signs of 'resurrection or vivification' for the Tories, describing a 'crushing defeat after defeat for the Conservatives...no sign of that trend abating'.
This comes as voters across the UK cast their ballots in local elections, with a very strong showing for Labour, and the Conservatives suffering their worst performance in decades.

@VarunnShetty -- Too harsh I think. They are on contracts just like Sangita, not allowed to discuss her awful dismissal. Same would apply to BBC or Sky staff. Management makes the hiring decisions. I wonder how they are managing the live phone ins, given the general outrage in comments here.

@@VarunnShetty False equivalence Students do not have "entire careers" to risk -- they are students. Student protests have a long and generally honourable history about injustice. Also, their power is in numbers and lasting practical support on campus, and the moral significance of the issue. Righteous about Gaza.

Please could both James and Lewis address the issue at LBC. I will remove LBC from subscriptions if action is not taken or if hosts do not say something in support of Sangita. How can they proceed with any credibility?
He won't. To my knowledge he has never defended anyone let go by LBC. Do some research on his subsequent treatment of Majid Nawaz. Maybe O'Brien sells himself to the highest bidder.

It's not JOB role to defend his employers choices. I heard him explain his position in terms of Sangita regarding her rajar ratings. Apparently, she has been dropped because she is not pulling in enough listeners. LBC is a commercial operation that relies on advertising revenue to exist. No listeners = no advertising revenue. I suspect it was a purely corporate decision. But Sangita is a talented and well loved presenter who will find a place on another media outlet. Until she puts out her version of events, probably best not to speculate.

If O'Brien is unbiased, why did he lie on air about why Sangita was sacked? He said it was viewing figures, not realising they had been going up! He then accused his listeners of spreading conspiracy theories after LBC had refused to make any statement for two weeks! I used to like him, but I don't trust him now and won't listen going forward. Slightly off topic but can someone clarify? I keep hearing an advert on lbc for Weetabix claiming the whole country has gone into decline because we are not eating enough of it. ULEZ is a non issue. Only 50% of households own a car, not even individuals. Of those within the expansion zone only 10% of vehicles are non compliant.
