Sorry for the stutter in the waveform during playback! Found out how to fix after recording the video and will have fixed for the next video! Thanks for watching 🙌🏽
Hey I have been having the same problem as well, i even messed with the settings, uninstall reinstall rekordbox, and make sure my performance from the rekordbox application is on high performance on my labtop settings. Anything will help thank you!
I’m already quite an experienced dj over 25 years but it’s good to see fellow DJs point these things out around EQing. A lot of DJs make the mistake that it’s just about beat matching, it isn’t…knowing how to kill certain frequencies of a track so the new track coming in doesn’t sound all over the place is so important. 👍 good video
Shit in the early 90’s all our time was spent fighting to get the turntables in sync. I think I was 10-15 years in before people starting cutting bass etc on a mix.
Mix sound with your ear! That's how I learned to dj in the very early 90s Also " beatmatch" too with your ear. We all learnt to mix with our ear and brain before software was around.
Hello ! Great video for the beginners ! I would add to this that the "trim" are also important and need to not be pushed too much on the right too, I personally let them a little on the left to be safe :)
First time here and first time I even investigated this; what it does and how to do that best as possible. I found your style and explanation very pleasant and informative! In particular how you turned the knobs, in a clear rhythm/cadance. Not 'telling' but 'showing', works really well in storytelling, and teaching, obviously ;-) I learned something, indeed about something that most people assume they know what it does and why. Thank you!
You should've demoed the same track from the start. But overall, the effect is the same applied to all tracks. Nice vid. DJ's should watch this and learn the real basic way to sound good and great in the long run.
is there ever a time where you would wanna have an eq knob above mid range or is that pretty much a constant rule for all djs to keep it up at mid or below? im trying to discipline myself to keep it under halfway but i keep getting carried away for that extra boost. sounds alright from my headphones but i can imagine to a trained ear on big speakers itd sound kinda cringy. but why do they even make it so you can boost the volume that high on ever single mixer then??
I always only use mid for vocal house, but you would need to dictate lows for bassline and deep bass tunes, good video very well illustrated, around frequency response.
Hey first of all it was a very helpful video. Could you make a video on how to get music as a beginner dj? I personally think about streaming music for example via tidal, what is your opinion?
Hello, thanks for the video. I can't help but notice you are not using any output speakers for your controller. In my case I am using the DDJ FLX 4 without any speakers. The thing is i only can control one deck and have no control over the mixer section including the fader. Can you please tell me the settings you are using if you are on rekordbox? Good video
@@prodjacademy Hey thanks for the reply. I have changed the driver to my laptop's speaker. Yet the only thing i can control is only one deck and the filter knob. the eqs and fader do not work. do i have to have any type of pro licence on ekordbox to fully control my Deck? and please if you can make a video that would be great. Thank you so much
@@yaredlikawent8062 Not sure what the problem is. Can you hear the song that’s on the other deck? If not, is the crossfader in the centre? If that’s not the case then maybe there’s something wrong with your decks.
Hey guys, I want to start DJ-ing on a budget console, but it lacks the Mid EQ (I don't have yet the money buy a better one). How important it is for a beginner (minimum experience on laptop DJ-ing) to have this knob ? Thanks in advance !
Not important ! That is important is that you have fun and learn along the way. If you like djeing you will be able to buy it in the future if you need it. Dont let limit be a problem for your creativity. If you arrive with two knobs, you will find it easier with three So have fun and enjoy your way amigo
If you play MP3 or any digital music you want to cut down a bit on high and mids, and leave low on 0 or +1. Now, if you play 12", you want to bust highs and mids and cut on the lows , due to pressing on a vinyl and process of the sounds... That simple...
Look up Bozak and Urei DJ mixers which were some of the first purpose built DJ mixers used by pioneering DJs like Frankie Knuckles and Francis Grasso Often they were set up with an isolator on the master channel to control the high/mid/low freqs.
And jesus, no one is going to blow a system by turning up the eqs, you'd need to be redlining like fuck to do that and anyone playing in a club that doesn't know that shouldn't be getting gigs from promoters

Could you kindly educate how to fix the stutter in the waveform? im keep getting stutters here and there dont know what to do. please help.

Thank you man. DJing 15 yrs and still see lot of people skipping the basics. This is such simple easy education.
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for this tip! I was just self teaching me and by accident watched your video. It instantly improved my mixes so much. Thx a lot.
Glad we are able to help! Make sure you check out our other videos on RUclips or courses on our website 🙌🏽

Thank you. That makes so much sense now why I have to adjust the eq
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for as learn!
Thank you for this awesome video!
Does your advice for beginner djs to focus on the low EQ know apply to those mixing songs with vocals? Like hip hop or dancehall reggae.
stay consistent bro🔥
Always!

u do mid cut and low cut for vocals and bass? i dunno, seems to clean up a mix, my opinion
As a newbie - is this possible to cut off bass AND the kick using eq knobs?
Nice bro i use this a lot
Thanks for that

Yes of course thanks for the suggestion! We will have a video covering where to download music uploaded tomorrow, make sure you check it out!
Beatport
I’ve got the Numark Mixstream Pro+. Allows me to stream from Amazon Music, Tidal and Beatport.
The less EQ the better, volume control is more important (imo)
Good feedback! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽

Yes indeed!

Try going to settings/audio/output and changing it to your laptop speakers! Hope this helps, let us know if you need a video elaborating on this

What do you mean
So what did DJ’s do before these 3-band EQ’s were the norm?
3 band EQs have been around for quite a while now! But I’d assume before that they would find the balance using only the volume faders
Look up Bozak and Urei DJ mixers which were some of the first purpose built DJ mixers used by pioneering DJs like Frankie Knuckles and Francis Grasso Often they were set up with an isolator on the master channel to control the high/mid/low freqs.

If you didn't see the first close up of the 3 band, see the red clipping and just die inside.. You should watch this video untill you do 😅
OMG, I'm so old. Young DJ's never will mix two 6 min long house track with 2 min transision - just playing only with EQ and BAL knobs...
i agree 1000% ...1 year of vinyl house mixing=1m of no platter touching
what the hell is going on with waveforms
There was an issue in the screen recording! Sorry about that!
whats wrong with ur waves?
They drank coffee on an empty stomach
