I have an i3 chrome box, upgraded to a mydigital 256 gig drive and 16 gig crucial ram , no problems so far. I used cog system monitor and according to thier ram monitor It was well over the half way point with 75 you tube tabs running (yes it played well with no glitches) also the chrome store has a new system back up program to use , no problems there also , have fun!
I like to use a piece of wide painters tape for sticking those screws in some order. If I watch this video and others like it, I will be able to do the very same with complete confidence.
Now you have to run the "recovery utility" because google shutdown the image burner website months ago, you can download the app from the chrome web store for free.

The options I've heard so far is having a dual boot of chromeOS and ubuntu, and having chromeOS and crouton (which is ubuntu based I believe) switchable with just a hotkey. I was wondering if it is possible to download some of the other, more popular linux distributions (I'm particularly interested in Mint, Cinnamon). I haven't seen anything about it yet, but I've been hearing whispers around the internet in different forums and stuff that it could happen. If it is possible, a video tutorial on how to download it would be awesome and greatly appreciated; I'm sure many other people agree as well (thumb up this comment you guys, so he can see it!). I'm actually replacing an eMMC drive on my HP Chromebook with the original Kingston one that came with your Acer Chromebook lol. I don't necessary need more storage space but I do need it to load faster since I work online. Now I wish I could upgrade to more ram to keep more tabs open but I hear that most small Chromebooks' RAM are soldered onto the motherboard.
I would love it if you made a similar video to upgrade an lg chromebase.if that's even possible. I believe it can be upgraded both with ram and an SSD. best of luck!
Will the longer (80mm instead of 42mm) crucial m.2 ssd's fit? It looks like the plastic in the bottom right corner would prevent longer ssd's, but this may be removable.

Try this, it worked for me on two different chromebooks: Power on the chromebook. Leave on for at least 30 seconds. Power off the chromebook. ![Repeat 20-25 times]! The chromebook might eventually reset itself properly.
This was soooooo long ago now. I'm sorry I don't have the info. The C720 is still working though! (unfortunately it doesn't get updates so it's risky to use it these days.)

Let me just ell you that I ran around like a chicken without my head looking for that ssd card you mentioned and and when I bout it, opened my chromebook my original ssd card wasn't an ssd card at all, it was an emmc card so that the ssd card I bought was way too big. Not even the sata card nor the the card fit. I cannot find another emmc card anywhere. My warranty ran out a long time ago and I am beyond pissed. What to do?

Sorry for the late answer, but I hope I can still help you :D No, only if you are an absolute pro in soldering.... If you want to upgrade your RAM, you'd have to buy a motherboard with more RAM, but I doubt those are still available...

Kevin Leers I have 16GB on my phone, I have only had it 8 months and it is already full of apps/stuff and slowing down because of it. Pain in the ass. 64GB or 128GB would provide a large buffer for anyone to put the apps they want on there and have storage for things they want to access when out and about.
128 GB and 256 GB SSDs work fine. The Adata large capacity SSDs require a smaller mounting screw in some cases (Acer GB5-571-xxxx). The Transcend large capacity SSDs do not.

3:50 warranty void stickers aren't legal but just fyi apply a little heat and it should slide right off if you want to keep it intact

did you have the boot/recovery files preloaded on SD card or did google load it on to it when it was reformatting the ssd
