put the 4runner in the sun to heat up the soft topper naturally then attach to all the snap grommets.
Definitely getting it in the heat helps.
I ran the softopper on my 4runner for three years. You probably figured this out already but you simply did not pull down on the rear pitman loop straps hard enough, that is why that last button is giving you trouble. Give each side a good umph and you will be good to go.
did you have any issues with theft? or just parked it in a garage maybe? i want a soft top for the summer but not sure about leaving it parked outside.
@@natemendez1324 I've run a Kayline soft top on my 4Runner for 20+ years. I installed a Grant security steering wheel for that concern. Unlock and take the wheel with you and unless the thief comes in with a loader and trailer, they won't get very far. I had one time someone popped in a stole a cheapo Harbor Freight volt meter out of the inside and another time some tweaker cut the catalytic converter out, but never took the vehicle.
I'm just getting ready to replace that top with a Killer Toy Top today.
I ordered mine in January 2021 and got it in April took forever to get here. Love it tho. My kids love it also. I stay in Cali and left it in safari mode since I've installed it.😁😁

Park it in the sun. Then unsnap the whole side and snap just that last snap and then the others. My Softopper is 7 years old and getting a little faded. The company will sell just the soft top. I never installed the velcro and it's been through hurricanes and car washes. I appreciate the video. I just posted a link to it so maybe you'll see some traffic. Your 4Runner is gorgeous and I know your kids love it!

@Pickett Build, does install of the top require any drilling into the body/tub of the truck? Or does the soft top rail simply use the same bolts/holes as the hard top?
No drilling necessary. Uses the factory hard top bolt holes.
I just received my soft topper for a 1979 Bronco a couple days ago. I plan to pay a local company that specializes in stereos, interiors, and accessories to install it for me. What do you think is a fair number of hours for the installation? Yours should be pretty similar to mine. I want to get a fair price, but I also don't want them to underestimate and be in a rush.
If it’s similar to mine you should be able to tackle it yourself. The instructions are easy to follow. Either way no more than than 1hr or 2 to get the job done. Thanks for watching!

I found one in below average condition for $3,500..
@@slammah5010 price is only going up and harder to find. I paid $9,500 and I thought that was a premium. But I am seeing similar go for 15k range or more these days. If you can find one that’s savable for less I would snatch it up.

How fast can you go on the highway in this?
Full speed! 70mph+
The velcro on the back is the only reason I have not bought one.
I am not sure there is a better solution for the rear. I do like the way it seals up, however I don't like the look of the velcro patches either when the top is up. If I put the hardtop back on those patches would look strange back there. Small price to pay and I have been enjoying the top otherwise. Thanks for watching!

It worries me a bit cause it doesn’t really seem secure meaning someone can just break into the truck 😬😅
Don’t drive it to the mall or down town! It’s the same issue with jeeps, bronco’s, convertibles or any other vehicle with a soft top. I mainly use it for camping trips and joyrides with the family. Hopefully thieves aren’t eying old eighties Toyota’s, lol! Definitely don’t keep valuables in it.
@@pickettbuilt2686 I appreciate the tip, I’ll probably end up installing an alarm in it to go with my soft top cause my rear window won’t go up and it’s driving me nuts trying to figure out 1. The issue and 2. The parts 😬 I’m brand new to the Yota game, I just got mine last week and I love it 😄❤️

Has 207k but the engine has been rebuilt. About 4K on the motor now.
