Whenever they say the phrase "Oops, all shotos." I imagine a guy making a diverse cast of characters, and then turning away for a split second only to see that the entire roster is wearing a Gi now.

Because of the weird interlacing of the capture, I keep imagining it's going to degenerate into a horror movie.

This game literally had the best version of Dan Hibiki than any game he's been in. The fact he has a large arsenal of moves where he stole two of Ryo's and has his own and can actually hold his own in this game was awesome. To bad this never came out for PS2 in the US even though it wasn't that popular but this is a pretty fun game.
I unironically just really enjoy this game and yes I recognize its glaring flaws. Even while CVS2 is better I like comparing the two because of the cast of characters they both used and the art direction. I think they both have the same pros and cons are far as sprites, the many of their own characters are shamelessly reused while the borrowed characters have a very nice makeover from the other company. I LOVE how Geese and Rugal look in Capcom's sprite art style and REALLY love how beautiful and dark Demitri and his animations are in the SNK Playmore style. Guile's hair looking even more outrageous in an SNK game is just plain funny and enjoyable to watch. Again while CVS2 is clearly better I still like it better than CVS1 and I really have to say that one of the few things it has over CVS2 is that the game is much less safe with its character choices on both side in comparison. As far as the Capcom characters in CVS2 yes there are a few nice editions, Kyosuke was very unexpected and nice and Batsu looks very nice in sprite form. Maki pleased a lot of folks and how wonderful it was to see Eagle for the first time in a long time, but I feel they where much too safe with their own characters. The use of the Alpha sprites and good Jedah that Morrigan sprite which really made me sad since its was a lazy representation of my favorite fighting game and the fact that Morrigan has good portrait art in the game made it worse. Maybe it was lack of concern for the characters that are not theirs, but I really feel the SNK side Capcom was more adventurous with from Hibiki to wait is that Todoh!? Raiden who was struggling to get in a KOF game for a while, Rock made me really happy and helps with the salt of no Leona or K'. SVC: Chaos was more adventurous on both sides bringing back strange faces like Earthquake, and Goenitz of all blokes and after all that time(and a long time again from there), Mr.Karate and Mars People as that token "what the hell" character. First playing Zero was absolutely the most lovable character to me given my old obsession with the Megaman Zero series and still one of my most beloved in the game, Hugo over Zangief to my surprise and my current main Tessa all make a nice cast. Anyway if you have watched a fighting game nerd vent through typing this far thank you and happy fighting!
P.S. This game has really good art portraits, but Balrog(boxer)'s is one of the most terrifying ones I have seen in the history. Serious that fellow should draw for Darkstalkers or a straight up horror game with that kind of literally scary talent.

To be Fair the description I gave applies to both 1 and 2 but since 2 had no limit on assists its way more abusable

Why is it almost all the backgrounds of this game are of depressing, post apocalyptic landscapes? Is thia SVC: Fallout or something?

I remember playing this on my PS2 for a few months when I was still a teenager. And, to be honest, this was the game that introduced me to The King of Fighters; my first ever KOF game being KOF 2003.
And, although I feel that the game could've gone better (looking back on it after all this time), I know a few good things came out of this game. For example, the pre-battle dialogue concept was reused for The King of Fighters XIII. Plus, SVC Chaos also shed light on a few obscure characters like Demitri Maximoff and Firebrand (although he may not be the Red Arremer in this game).
I can't get over how there is a stage in this game called "Nude place"

One of the slightly funnier things about rewatching these older Fisticuffs/Scrublords is the pharmacy joke they make a number of times when talking about SVC Chaos. Except the pharmacy in the states is CVS. So it's a funny joke but about the wrong game! Could even expand it to joking that a pharmacy got a sequel with CVS2.
Liam is my hero for winning with the Motherfucking RISING STORM. In clutch I might add.

Believe it or not, Dan is actually pretty solid in this game......... Aside from his fireball. It's literally just a small orb that moves an inch away from his hand. It's not even shaped like a fireball. It's just a tiny circle. Literally the worst Gadouken ever.

There is nothing quite as stressful as watching somebody pick Zero in this game and then never doing 623+LK (which links into itself on hit)
I veemently disagree with what you say about Megaman Zero's Zero. He's the coolest Zero, IMHO. Plus, the Megaman Zero games are the collective shit. Not one bad game among them.

For games like this where you can't switch characters after a win, why not just make a save state at the character select screen and after a match just reload that save.
So they can keep track of wins I guess..? I mean, not that they have problems doing that, but you know...

I remember playing this game online on Xbox live. I beat so many Shin Akuma and Serious Mr. Karate players with Mai and my friends brother beat same players with Dhalsim. Good times.

This is exactly the quality of video that this game deserved.
This game is actually pretty good, it just came out at a really bad time and was running on hardware that was 13 years old by the time it came out
this is perfect, not only for the weird capture issues, but the weird game in general.
What put me off about this game the first time playing it was the sound effects. It's like someone slapping raw steak on their butt

Aaah, my first SNK fighting game ever. I bought this on PS2, because it had Zero in it. Then I saw the SNK side of characters and thought "These look cooler than the Capcom ones". After that I bought KOF 2002 and I was blown away, because I could actually move, unlike in Street Fighter games.
Only got like 4 hours of sleep after moshing it up at a heavy metal show, now I'm watching this at 9 AM I am LITERALLY A Saturday morning SCRUBLORD

Violent Ken's Exceed Move is 2363214+AC. You can only do Exceed Moves once per match, and can only be triggered if you have less than half your health taken away. To signify that you haven't done your Exceed Move yet, your character's name flashes.
