I'm training for a professional MMA fight and also have two months of Wing Chun under my belt right now. I like many of these techniques and counters and I think many can and will work inside the Octagon/cage/ring (some *will not*, unfortunately) but it's painfully obvious that Shifu Janis has not fought or trained properly with an MMA fighter or at least not against a competent one. I do not mean any disrespect at all, I'm just saying that if he wants his students (and himself) to be effective they need to spar with and against real, highly skilled mma practitioners. Most MMA fighters and trainers are extremely humble and kind, contrary to popular misconception, and would be happy to train with Shifu and any other Wing Chun fighters. Shifu runs a risk of setting his students up for a false confidence if he fails to implement live, safe, full contact sparring which allows the throws, takedows, strikes and sumbissions one finds in any MMA gyms and competitions. Please understand I mean no disrespect, I just continue to see the same problematic theme of American/Western Kung Fu schools failing to train full contact on a frequent and consistent basis and wind up getting embarrassed in a competition or seriously hurt in a fight against an MMA fighter or even a competent Brazilian Jiu-jitsu practitioner. We have to humble ourselves and break this cycle as representatives of the Kung Fu tradition in the West. Best regards, -Thomas

groin kicks, eye pokes, strikes in the back of the head (especially when they tackle to try bring you to the ground) and throat strikes are key for wing chun's success. what you suggest makes sense of course, but protective gear on those areas makes techniques or strikes not working when they will work without gear. how do you then set up this practice between the two styles.

This is so not accurate this teacher clearly has no idea how a MMA fighter fights look up any match between a MMA fighter and wing chun and the MMA fighter always wins I saw the MMA guy take out the wing chun dude in 40 seconds also this instructor does unrealistic training as you can see the guy he is demonstrating on just stays in the same position while he is getting hit while in real life the guy would be getting out that position and fighting back I'm not trying to hate but it's bullshit

+JOHNNYwxw why no just u go fight?
Ufc still a sports.its banned many dangerous attack.
Anderson silva,Lyoto machida and several other also learn a wing chun. that why its call Mix martial arts.
Go learn and think dont just talk. If jiu jitsu was perfect why learn Muay thai,If muay thai was perfect why learn Karate, that mean u need more technique for MMA.Every martials arts have their unique style.

'this teacher clearly has no idea how a MMA fighter fights'. And how is that exactly? The very definition of MMA would indicate there are many ways how they fight. So, I did a lot of striking previously - I guess all I have to do now is a a few months wrestling training to magically become an MMA guy? Then would I be able to learn how to 'fight how an MMA fighter fights' - or do I suddenly just 'know' and instantly assume superiority and be able to find faults in any other style, because everyone knows that all MMA guys are unstoppable. Yes, the top MMA guys are very good, but many of the rest just use the MMA label - because anyone can. You might try being a bit less smug.

RAWICE511 you need to do some research. This guy has fought and trained MMA. And he is very good. If you have doubts go and try him. You would be lucky to last 10secs. Guaranteed. :)

+Zayne Carroll Does he have a professional fight? I'd be surprised is he even has an amateur MMA fight under his belt, to be honest. I'm all about Wing Chun, but as a professional Mixed Martial Artist whose primary base is Wing Chun I just can't sit back and watch seminars like this and not speak up any longer. A number of the techniques presented here will work but many will not and will set up many for failure and even danger should they feel confident enough to cross the wrong person with some competent level of MMA or even BJJ or wrestling traning :/
